Baptism class is required for first time parents. PO BOX MAPLE AVE. WAVERLY, MN From The Desk of The Pastor Dear Parishioners: The painters will be starting soon on preparing the walls for painting. Please pray that the whole church project goes smoothly and stays on schedule. Remember the church building is off limits during the project per insurance company and construction companies because of liability and safety. There were about people to help move pew parts (They were disassembled to make transport easier.) out of the church and to move the scaffolding into the church. The process took about 1 1/2 hours! Thank-you, very much to all who came to help! Again, you are amazing! When there is a need, you respond! May God bless you for your dedication! We now go back to Ordinary Time for the weekends. Last week was the 1st week of Ordinary Time. The Baptism of the Lord was also the 1st Sunday of Ordinary Time. We will remain in Ordinary Time until Ash Wednesday which is on March 6th. The color of the mass vestment is green, like the color of grass. The green color reminds us that even though it is Ordinary Time (the time outside of Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter), we should still be growing in our love for God and neighbor and we should still be growing in faith! Let us ask God for the grace to grow in charity and faith during this Ordinary Time! May God bless our spiritual journey through Ordinary Time. Anniversary of US Supreme Court Legalizing Abortion On January 22 at 9:00 am, we will meet in St. Mary s new worship area in the parish hall in St. Mary s for prayer. This is the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court legalizing abortion. In 46 years, we have lost 60 million little ones. It is so important to remember: Our Lord is merciful to those who bought the lie that an abortion will solve their problem. There are many victims of this legal but immoral act. Please join us for prayer and for refreshments later. Eucharist Adoration is weekly in the Adoration Chapel beginning 8:45 AM on Mondays and last hour ends at 9:00 AM on Fridays. Renovation Please note that while the renovation is being done in Church, no one is allowed to enter the Church. Please respect the ribbons and signs on the doors! Come and Join Us!!! On Tuesday Jan 10:30 am Please join us for the Annual Prayer Service for Life at the St. Paul Cathedral. This prayer service commemorates the millions of lives lost to abortion and the many women and men wounded by abortion aftermath. Archbishop Bernard Hebda will be the presider this year. All are invited and welcome. Following the Prayer Service, plan on going to the State Capitol to join in the 2019 Minnesota Citizen Concerned Life March. The march will begin at noon followed by a brief program at 12:30. Please set aside one hour to speak out for unborn children and their mothers! Bus from St. Boniface The St. Boniface Knights of Columbus will provide a bus to the St. Paul Cathedral and then to the state capitol. The bus will leave the St. Boniface parking lot at 8:30 a.m. We will stop at Our Lady of the Lake in Mound and at Lund s in Wayzata. We will return at approximately 2:15 pm. St. Mary's has played an important role volunteering for the Good Samaritan Birthday Party and Ice Cream Social once a year along with other Churches and organizations. A heartfelt thank you to Ann Fitch who has lead both of these activities for several years. It's time for Ann to take a step back so we are looking for someone to take over. The date of the Birthday Party is March 4 and the Ice Cream Social is November 10, If you would be willing to consider this ministry, please contact Ann Fitch at or Mary Pettit at the parish office ext. 21 for more information. Thank you in advance for considering this important and fun ministry! Remember Rebuild Renew The pews were recently removed and are being transported for refinishing. The scaffolding was hauled in on Monday, January 14th and was set up for the project to begin. Thank you to all who came to help unload the scaffolding. Many hands make light work; it took only 1 1/2 hours to get the job done. Roe vs. Wade Anniversary Please donate new baby items (examples are pacifiers, diapers, blankets, newborn baby clothes) or cash in the stroller in the Gathering Space during the month of January. These items will help the courageous women choosing life over abortion for their unborn child. All donations will be given to Wright County Community Action. Your generous parish-contribution of $3, will enable hundreds of religious communities to meet their pressing retirement needs, while continuing to serve the People of God. Questions, call Father Daughter Dance "St. Mary's Father Daughter dance will be taking place on Sunday, February 17th from 4:30-7:30PM at the Waverly K.C. Hall. There will be great music from Ben Hanson, dancing, a photo booth, coloring and craft tables, decorating a cupcake station, chocolate fountain, Little Caesar's pizza, Silent Auction, and corsages will be for sale again. Please contact Hayley Hanson for more details. We need people to help set up and to help clean up and Virtus trained people to chaperone. Please feel free to donate items for the silent auction, some ideas would be large stuffed animals, candy bouquets, gift cards, and other girly items. Valentine items will be on clearance at several stores so you may be able to find some great deals! Cost will be $15 per couple with no additional cost for additional girls. Corsages are $5.
