4 Join Sheil Facebook Group Join the Sheil Catholic Center Facebook "Group" and read the daily Lenten reflections offered by members of the Sheil staff. This "Group" is not a public page. It can only be accessed by approval. Sheil community members, Northwestern students, faculty & staff and Sheil alums can be accepted as members. Joining this group provides another Lenten opportunity to connect with fellow Sheilites, share your journey and get to know one another better. If you have questions about accessing the group, please contact Christine Grinslade at ext.17 Pray for a Seminarian Catholic? Not Yet Confirmed? During Lenten we strive to intentionally connect with God in our daily lives through prayer, fasting & almsgiving. As we pray for more awareness of God's love in our own lives, it is also helpful to pray for one another to connect more fully with all of us as one "Body of Christ." While there is no shortage of people and causes to pray for, seminarians ask that we keep them in prayer. If you would like to include a seminarian in your Lenten prayer intentions we have cards in the Commons with pictures and names of class members at The University of St. Mary of the Lake. You can also contact the seminarians through their profiles on the USM website. The link is on the card. Feel free to pick one up. Adult Confirmation classes are for practicing Catholics who have already received the sacraments of Baptism and First Communion. Confirmation is a vital sacrament that gives the grace to remain strong in your faith in the face of life s many trials. Be confirmed in your faith! 5 For fifteen years, the Sheil Catholic Center has sponsored an international service trip for our undergraduate students to San Jose de Cusmapa, Nicaragua where we work in collaboration with LaFamilia de Padre Fabretto. We are excited to open this opportunity up to associates and young adults. Kevin Marinacci, CEO of Fabretto is a Sheil and NU alum, Kellogg MBA, Sheil's partnership with Fabretto stems from our special relationship with Kevin. Please pick up a kit in the Commons and "Share the Journey" with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are called to love our neighbor. This Lent, CRS Rice Bowl Catholic Relief Services Lenten faith-in-action program, will help us answer that question. 6 Fr. Jim Martin, SJ Thursday March 22 at Holy Name Cathedral On Thursday, March 22 at 7:00 p.m., Father James Martin, SJ will be speaking on the humanity and divinity of Jesus. "Who do you say that I am? That's the question that Jesus asked of his disciples. Even then they had a hard time answering. Come learn why the answer must involve both the historical Jesus, the man who walked the dusty roads of first-century Judea and Galilee, and the Christ of faith, the miracle-worker now risen from the dead. 7 Chicago History Museum Exhibit OPEN NOW Until July 15, 2018 It s a simple truth. People are different. Throughout history, these differences have been a source of community, strength, and personal identity. They have also been the basis for discrimination and oppression. Race, developed by the American Anthropological Association in collaboration with the Science Museum of Minnesota, is the first national exhibition to tell the stories of race from the biological, cultural, and historical points of view. Combining these perspectives offers an unprecedented look at race and racism in the United States.
