1 St Andrew s Presbyterian Church Hamilton Kindness has no boundaries 30 September am Kiwi Service Rev Ken Wall Piano: Shirley Harland 11.30am Korean Service Rev Tae Ju Ham
2 St Andrew s Mission To worship and work with God in the world St Andrew s Vision A bridge to the city... where love and friendship meet Call to worship (adapted from Psalms/Now by Leslie Brandt, 124 and 125) Though we cannot hold on to God, God does hold on to us. Though everything changes about us, our great God cannot be changed Though the storm sweeps in upon us, Our relationship to our loving God is forever. Hymn O Lord, You Are My God and King (CH4 100, tune WOV 24) Gathering prayer Always There by John Grundy (URC Prayer Handbook p94) Great God! We praise You! We are surrounded by Your love. You keep us from harm, You support us when we make mistakes, You hold us when we are overwhelmed, You keep us safe when we feel vulnerable. Great God! We praise You! Help us remember You are always there for us, How You embrace us and guide us when we forget You, That You share our joys, That You are in all we have achieved and done. Our help is in Your name, O God, You remember us. Great God! We praise You! We welcome and greet one another: Kia ora tatou Welcome to worship An-nyeoung ha-se-yo? Kam na mauri Kia orana Nimen hao Selamat datang Talofa lava Namaste Malo e lelei Namaskaram Salaam Welkom Notices Conversation with children and others Hymn Loving Spirit (AA 94) Hebrew Scripture reading (Max Dawson) Esther 7:1-6, 9-10 and 9:20-22 (GNT) Gospel reading (Max Dawson) Mark 9:38-50 (GNT)
3 Prayer Much More Than Us by John Grundy (URC Prayer Handook p95) Broad-minded God, So often we think we are Your perfect followers. We claim You as our own, We do church properly when others don t, We are the ones who do Your work correctly, We can feel so smug and self-righteous. Those whom You have called to follow You are more than we can imagine. Your followers are much more than just us. Your church is much bigger than only us, or only me. Forgive us, when we cause others to feel excluded, inferior and ashamed, to look foolish. Save us from becoming millstones in other people s journeys of faith. Help us to encourage others to come to Your expansive way, bringing their rhythm to Your symphony, to be who You want us all to be. Sermon Kindness has no boundaries The offering will be received as we sing Hymn Tell My People (AA 132) Dedication of offering Prayers of gratitude and concern (Peter Bayne) after which we will sing The Lord s Prayer (WOV 676) Hymn Gather Us In (CH4 623) Blessing and three-fold Amen We invite you to join us for morning tea or coffee and a chat in the Mary Bryant Commons. We hope you enjoyed worshipping with us; please sign the Visitors Book at the back of the church. We want you to feel at home here, so feel free to join our activities. If you would like to know more about St Andrew s or to explore membership options, please take one of our information pamphlets. 2 Corinthians 9:7 God loves a cheerful giver (NKJV) St Andrew s depends on the generous giving of members and friends. If you would like to make a donation or support our work through planned giving, please contact the Church Office.

8 Health & Safety Please note where the Exits and Evacuation Point are located LINK HOUSE FOOD BANK Thank you very much to the St Andrew s folk who bring food on Sundays for the Link House Food Bank. The collection basket is in the Gilbert Gallery as you come in to worship in the Cattanach Hall. Your gifts are a very practical form of assistance to single-parent families in need. The Single Parent Workers suggested theme for October is long-life specifically, they are short of tins of fruit, long-life milk, shampoo and soap. You can, of course, bring other sorts of food if you wish. Non-perishable food is usually best but if you have surplus fresh fruit or veges, please phone Link House on to see whether your produce would be of immediate use.
