On November 1, we had the Feast of All Saints Day, followed by All Souls Day on November 2. All Saints Day is the Solemnity celebrated in honor of all saints, known and unknown, who have entered heaven. All Souls Day is a day in which the Catholic Church recognizes all souls who have not yet attained full moral perfection and so cannot enter into heaven. In this month of November, we will hear more about Heaven and Hell because we are approaching the end of the Liturgical Year and the Feast of Christ the King. What is your view of Heaven? Many of us view Heaven as if it were a perfect earth. Our visions may include: picturing our loved ones on the golf course where every drive is perfect and every putt goes in; the Brewers are pitching no hitters and hitting home runs; every deer shot is a trophy and every fish caught is gigantic. We may also think of our loved ones who have died and imagine them watching the Packers win another Super Bowl. The Spiritual is so much more than these images and infinitely more than our minds can grasp. We do not know what it is like to be like the angels because we cannot comprehend angelic life. We do know, however, that Heaven will be better than our fondest imagination. We were created to Know, Love and Serve God in this life and to be happy with Him in the next. Heaven is that place, or state of being, where we will be united with God forever. The Catechism of the Catholic Church, in commenting on Our Father Who Art in Heaven states Heaven, the Father s House, is the true homeland towards which we are heading and to which we already belong. In order to strive for Heaven on earth, we need to be Christ to each other. We only have one life. May we always be united in Him, on this earth and in Heaven. NOVEMBER 10, nd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME 3 Behold the Lamb of God Concert Wednesday, December 18 6:30 pm at Holy Cross Church Holy Cross Parish is blessed to host the Behold the Lamb of God concert on Wednesday evening, December 18, at 6:30 pm in church. Bring your family and friends to this very inspirational evening of story and beautiful music, performed by some of the most talented musicians in the area. Musicians from Holy Cross, St. Katharine Drexel and St. John Little Chute, among others, will present the story of the bible in song. You will not forget this evening of beautiful music and fellowship. No registration is necessary. Just mark your calendars for a night that will put you in the true Christmas spirit. 5 Sign Up Now For Novena in Church 24 hours of silent prayer each day for nine days (Begins after 4:30 pm Mass on Saturday, November 30) It may be a bit early to tell when you re open in December, but please try to sign up for your adoration hour(s) as soon as possible. It will help us plan so we have each hour slot filled with three or four people. It s going to be a beautiful nine days of prayer, and we re expecting many graces from our commitments. Thank you for being part of this spiritual undertaking. We know you will all help make it happen, and God will bless us abundantly. Love Lights Christmas Tree Fund Raiser Kaukauna Community Health Associates (KCHA) will again sponsor the "Love Lights" Christmas tree fund raiser at the Kaukauna Public Library. The red cardinal paper ornaments, which are hung on the tree, represent the living. The white dove ornaments represent our deceased loved ones. If you know of someone serving in our armed forces, we will honor them with a flag on their ornament; someone who has, or is battling, breast cancer will have a pink ribbon attached; and a gold star will be used for a special person who has come to your aid in a time of need. The cost for each paper bird ornament is $3.00. Request forms are available at the library and at various businesses in Kaukauna. Please send your requests and donations to: Love Lights, KCHA, PO Box 534,, or drop them off at Kaukauna Public Library through December 20. ALL proceeds are used in health-related areas in our community. Lighting of the Love Lights tree will be Friday, December 6, at 5pm, with entertainment by the Kaukauna High School Jazz Choir.
