The Holy Spirit was at work in almost 100 men and women of the Brooklyn Diocese. Jesus enters hearts through CRHP. We see it in our own parish. If you are a man or a woman who wants to love Jesus even more, please take the time to attend this marvelous day-and-a-half retreat. The men meet March 1 and 2 and the women April 5 and 6. It doesn t take a great deal of time out of your life, but it will likely change your life in some wonderful way. We ve made it easy to register. Just complete the form on page 3 and mail or bring it in to the rectory. CRHP is so important to our parish that it s free to all participants. Let me know how you like it! Fr. Tom A letter of thanks from the men s CRHP New York Lay Director: On February 6-9, seven men from Holy Cross Parish, three men from St. John Parish in Howard and one man from St. Joe/St. Mary Parish in Appleton, traveled to New York to lead a Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) retreat for 37 men of the Diocese of Brooklyn, New York. I want to thank Deacon Bruce Corey, Joe Lamers, Lawrence Ortner, Mike Campbell, Mike Van Helvoirt and Myron Geiser from Holy Cross Parish for their support. I was the Lay Director on this retreat, but I could not have done it without the support of this group of men. I also want to thank my 4 th grade religious education class, Father Tom and the entire Holy Cross Community for praying for our safe travels and a good retreat. Kevin Heindel The women from Holy Cross who participated in the New York CRHP weekend are Julie Huss, Jenny Van Helvoirt and Kim Corey. The hearts of many women and men were changed last weekend. Now they will go on to spread the love of God in their own Brooklyn parishes.

4 4 Welcome to Holy Cross Parish Jesus Loves You Very Much Sixth grade Faith Formation students acted out plays to learn about the following prophets: Aaron and Miriam, Joshua, Deborah, Gideon and Samson. Do you know the difference between a major and a minor prophet? Love one another was the subject for the third grade Faith Formation students. They made valentines for the residents at St. Paul Home. Plans are in the works right now to take a coach bus to the Augustine Retreat Center in Petoskey, MI. We ll spend the night, visit the largest Crucifix in the US in Indian River, wake up to a nice breakfast at the retreat center and then walk five miles over the Mackinac Bridge. One side of the bridge is closed each Labor Day for this special event. Yes, it s going to be fun! Matthew 5:20 The scribes and Pharisees lived according to the letter of the law, and they used this to elevate themselves above the other people. Jesus is clear it s the love that we have in your heart that will get us to heaven. Simply following church rules out of obligation, not love, does not put us on the path to heaven. Attending Mass on Sunday and then gossiping about a fellow parishioner in the parking lot is an example of a modern-day Pharisee. FEBRUARY 16, 2014 SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME 5 Fall in Love With Your Spouse Again Join Deacon Bruce and Kim Corey, along with three other couples from the Green Bay Marriage Encounter community, on Saturday, April 26, and Sunday, April 27, as they lead a special Marriage Encounter weekend -- right here at Holy Cross Parish. We d love to have many Holy Cross couples participate. The format of the weekend is listening to presentations by married couples about key marital topics and then sharing with your spouse. There is no speaking before the group. The entire weekend is about you and your spouse. Oh, and there are lots of very nice surprises! It doesn t matter if you ve been married five years or fifty years. The weekend is for anyone who wants to make a good marriage even better!
