2 GREETINGS FROM FATHER AMAL Dear friends of St. Bernard s, Now thank we all our God..With heart and hands and voices;..who wondrous things hath done,..in whom His world rejoices. Every time I think of you, I give thanks to God. I always pray for you, and I make my requests with a heart full of joy because you have been my partners in spreading the Good news about Christ from the time you first heard it until now. (Philippians1: 3-5) St. Paul is thanking the people of Philippians in the scripture like this. Similarly, I join with St. Paul in thanking God and you, the Parish family of St. Bernard's for the overwhelming support for me, as I joined the St. Bernard family this past July. We are a team in working together to build up the Kingdom of God here at St. Bernard. It is easy to express gratitude to God in our joyful times, but it is difficult to show the same gratitude during our tough times. However, I encourage you to learn to appreciate God even in difficult days in your life journey as well. Look back on your life journey and see how JESUS has helped you and carried you through difficult times; gain confidence from your knowledge that together with JESUS we can handle anything. Although you and your circumstances may change dramatically, Jesus remains the same in his everlasting love and mercy walking with you not only in your joyful times but difficult times as well because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever with his unconditional love. The Book of Hebrews says, Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teaching. In Jesus presence you live and move and have your being. A Grateful Heart is a Happy Heart. It takes a magnificent spirit to come through such hardship and express gratitude but still we are called to thank our God with heart and hands and voices who has done wondrous things through JESUS CHRIST OUR SAVIOR in whom this world rejoices. Amal Roche, Pastor SCRIP VOLUNTEER Our Co-Chair of our SCRIP program is relocating to DePere. We are in need of a replacement. The position involves scheduling the volunteer sellers on a quarterly basis, reconciling the sales and inventory after the last Mass on Sunday, setting up and selling SCRIP cards after some Masses, and filling orders on an occasional basis. The hours are somewhat flexible and approximately 3-4 hours per week. Please call Colleen at if you are interested. 3 DID YOU KNOW Faith Formation News Did you know that children need to attend first grade Faith Formation in order to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in second grade? If you have a child or grandchild in first grade please contact our Faith Formation Office at for more information. COMMUNITY EVENTS St. Patrick's Parish, Menasha will be hosting Christmas Sweet, November 30, December, 1-2. All three days will be our annual Christmas Cookie/Candy Walk. Selection of over 10,000 cookies and candies. Friday is our Fish Fry. Sunday, December 2nd, bring your children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews to select and wrap their own special gifts at our Christmas Sweet Gingerbread House. St. Patrick's Parish Annual Christmas Tree Sale St. Patrick's Parish, 324 Nicolet Blvd, Menasha. Varieties of trees include Fraser and Balsam Fir; Blue and White Spruce and White Pine. We also will be offering a variety of fresh, full wreaths, garland and boughs. 5 HAPPENINGS Angel Tree St. Bernard Parish Social Justice Committee is sponsoring our annual Angel Tree Christmas in conjunction with the Salvation Army. Our Angel Tree will be in our lounge with a child s name attached to an ornament along with their Christmas wish. The suggested gift level is from $50-$100. If you would like to pair up with a friend or family to purchase the suggested gift, that would be wonderful. Smaller donations of cash are also accepted. The cash donations will be for the purchase of needed items. Please be sure to register your name, phone number and the number(s) of the tag(s) you have taken. The sign-up sheets are available next to the Angel Tree. This is an important step as we need to account for all the gift tags taken. Please return all gifts to our Parish Office or under the Angel Tree on or before Thursday, December 6. Last year we generously donated almost 200 gifts to children in our community. CHRISTMAS EVE Children and Youth Christmas Pageant December 24 at the 4:00 pm Family Mass Children will be in biblical costume and will act our the Gospel. We need some shepherds, angels, Mary and Joseph and many others. First organizational meeting will be on Tuesday evening, December 4 at 6:00 pm in our Church. There will be 2 scheduled practices. Voices To Sing All High School Youth thru Adults are invited to share their voices with our Parish during the 9:00 pm Mass on Christmas Eve, December 24.
