What Are the True Signs of Christmas? In 1970, the Canadian Rock Group Five Man Electric Band popularized the song Sign. Here are the lyrics: Sign, Sign everywhere a sign Blocking out the scenery, breaking my mind Do this, don t do that. Can t you read the Sign? Christmas is upon us with tinsel, lights, Christmas trees and ornaments. The signs are everywhere. But are these the true signs of Christmas, or are the signs blocking out the scenery and breaking my mind? Jesus is the true reason for the season and, Mary, with child and about to give birth, is that outward sign. Let us grow in anticipation as we await the child they shall call Emmanuel, God is with us. Deacon Mark Ministers at Christmas Masses As you know, Christmas is just a few days away. We need a lot of ministers for these Masses, and you can help in one of these ways. 1) Sign up at one of the entrances to usher, greet or serve as Eucharistic Ministers. We need many of your smiling faces! 2) When you arrive at Mass, check to see if we need a greeter or a family of greeters at a door. Simply put your coats in the pew, and pick an unattended door to welcome guests. If there aren t four ushers at collection time (six in the gym at 4:00 Mass) then please help if you can (especially if you are a high school or college student). That would be great! We need eight Eucharistic Ministers in the gym at 4:00, so please help there if you can. Christmas is upon us once again. God is with us. Let s have beautiful liturgies.

January 4th Benefit for Michael Baudhuin 4:00-10:00 pm at Van Abel s Michael is a 27-year-old Kaukauna native who married Emily Schroeder here at Holy Cross in This past August 24, Michael was involved in a diving accident while vacationing in Crivitz with family and friends. After extensive surgery, Michael was diagnosed as a quadriplegic. Surgeries have potential to enable Michael to walk again, but they are not covered by insurance, so please come to Van Abel s on Saturday, January 4, to support him. He would love to walk and run around again with his son, Elwyn. They hope to see you there! 5 What a Month We re Having! Wow! Thanks to so many people, this has been a month to remember. First, we had nine days of prayer in Church, and we filled all those time slots -- More than 200 hours! Great job, everyone. Special thanks to the family who put up the beautiful display on the Gathering Space ledge to remind us how awesome this prayer time was. It was beautiful! We re hearing great comments about many prayerful experiences. God will bless this parish, and we praise him and thank him in everything! Last weekend, we sold choir CDs, more than 250 people showed up for a Chili Supper, then another 250 or more came for a Pancake Breakfast. The Parish Council created a museum of parish history in the music room, and many people visited it. Sunday evening, we had a Christmas potluck and caroling around town in a bus. We filled the bus! On Wednesday, we experienced the joy of Behold the Lamb of God concert in Church. Thank you to everyone who made our parish celebrations such joyful experiences for everyone.
