Many people are surprised when they hear we ve met our goal. They say, I haven t even sent mine in yet! This is fantastic, so keep it coming. God will reward us for our generosity. The Gift of Confirmation I just got done signing all of the certificates for our 2013 confirmation group. I think it is important for the pastor to sign each certificate because it gives me the opportunity to pray for each candidate. Bishop Ricken will be here, at Holy Cross Parish, on Sunday at 2 pm to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation to the young people of my parish. I am excited for a couple of reasons. First, this is the first time we have Bishop Ricken for the sacrament. It is a privilege to have the Bishop of our Diocese for confirmation. The second reason why I am happy is because of the sacrament itself. Through the sacrament of confirmation, our young people will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit so they can live their mission from God as a Christian in the world. Through confirmation, they will be fully initiated as a Catholic. They began the process of initiation at baptism, and now it is complete. Our young people will be called to profess their faith and be witnesses to Christ in their lives. They will be given the Holy Spirit to help them accomplish this way of life. The third reason for my enthusiasm is that celebrating this sacrament in our parish reminds us, who have been confirmed many years ago, of our responsibility to witness to Christ as well. I was confirmed here at Holy Cross in 1982, and I like to meditate on how the Holy Spirit is working in my life and calling me to live my faith. As you pray for our parishioners this weekend, please take some time to reflect on the Holy Spirit in your own life, and how you are called by God to live your faith in our parish. Fr. Tom Third Sunday of Easter Peter was distressed that Jesus had said to him a third time, Do you love me? and he said to him, Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you. Jesus said to him, Feed my sheep. (John 21:17) All of us are challenged to show our love for Jesus by feeding His sheep. Through prayer, ask God how you should best use your time, talent and treasure to assist those who are in need. Remember that giving is an act of worship and helps advance the mission of our parish and the greater Church.

3 Can We Say Thank You Enough? Thank you again to anyone who has ever made a donation to this parish. Ever! Most recently, we ve seen tables, chairs, a television for the gathering space, coffee urns, a screen, a dryer, a refrigerator, Fr. Tom s patio, landscaping, vestments, altar and sanctuary décor, kneelers, roofing, fixing of bells, decorating, Easter candle, candles and holders for Easter, volunteers -- anything and everything! We are grateful to everyone who has taken an interest in the upkeep and updating of Holy Cross Parish and have contributed to making it a warm and welcoming place of worship and fellowship. Yes, what if today, we were just grateful for EVERYTHING? Then, let s be grateful again tomorrow...and the next day...and the next day... Eight Holy Cross Couples Are At the Abbey Eight Holy Cross couples are experiencing a Marriage Encounter this weekend at St. Norbert Abbey in DePere. For those of you who have encountered, you know what happens on Sunday. Please pray for all couples who are encountering across the country this weekend. If you ve made a Marriage Encounter, you might want to check the Manna at for specific details. Here are two additional things to consider: 1) For any Holy Cross couples who have encountered (or surrounding parishes): We ll be starting an Image Group here at Holy Cross soon, and 2) If you haven t encountered, mark your calendars for April 25-27, We ll be hosting a Marriage Encounter weekend right here at Holy Cross. It s going to be popular, so block off the dates as soon as you have that new 2014 calendar!

Thanks to all the dedicated workers who put together a beautiful afternoon filled with vintage wedding dresses, beautifully designed wedding cakes for dessert, a marvelous salad luncheon and a great show. It was a huge success! Check out last Monday s Post-Crescent for more pictures of the event. Bonnie Golden and her committee pulled off an event that was a huge undertaking! Thanks to the committee members, models, dress donors, dress pressers, videographer, cake bakers and donors, salad makers, kitchen staff, decorators, door prize donors, set-up/take-down crews and everybody who purchased tickets for this enjoyable event. Way to go, everyone!

5 Marian Day of Reflection in LaCrosse At Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine With Fr. Rocky from Relevant Radio Focusing on the theme, Mary, Mother of Life, the Day of Reflection begins with prayer, a procession and the May Crowning of Our Blessed Mother. The morning session will include meditations, Holy Mass, rosary and time for confessions and reflection. Following lunch with fellow pilgrims, the Day of Reflection continues with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, a final meditation and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. This event is free and open to the public. To register for a $15 lunch in the Shrine crypt (200-person capacity), visit us online at keyword Marian. Help Us Form a Christian-Based Dance Academy An exploratory committee is being formed for any interested Holy Cross Parish members to look into forming a Christian values-based dance academy. The goal of this dance academy would be to provide professional dance experience in tap, ballet, jazz, and more to our young community members with a Christian-based focus. Any and all parish members interested in providing feedback and assisting in this project, please join us Monday, April 22nd, at 6:30 pm in the Faith Formation Center. A Life in the Spirit Seminar is a retreat which centers on God, the Holy Spirit. The seminar is intended for anyone who desires a new awareness and deeper relationship with God, especially through the working of the Holy Spirit. Seminar sessions will be held at the People of Praise Community Center, S. Lawe St., Appleton.
