JERRY S CORNER I would like to give you a big THANK YOU for your generous support of our seminarians through the Seminarian Collection and of our needy brothers and sisters around the world through the Missionary Cooperation Appeal. You have helped us carry out the mission of Jesus through prayer, service and sharing. On Thursday, September 2, 2010 the Bishop David Ricken will be hosting a Project Andrew Dinner. Young men, juniors in high school or older, who are open to the call of God in their lives, including a possible call to the Diocesan Priesthood are invited to attend. It will begin with Mass at 5:30 PM and followed by supper and discussion at Bishop s residence. You need to RSVP by August 27 to Fr. Schuster at or vocations@gbdioc.org. Fostering vocations is not just their vocation, but part of ours as well. Coming up in September there will be a bible study offered entitled The Great Adventure, A Journey through the Bible. In this study, you will discover the big picture of the biblical story as it is presented in specific books of the Bible. Join us and learn the major people, places, events and themes of the Bible. Perhaps for the first time in your life, you will understand the overview of the Bible story. This then makes you Bible reading and even the Sunday Mass readings come alive like never before. This study will take place at St. Mary s Campus in the social hall from 1:00 PM 2:00 PM and St. Al s Campus in the Social Hall from 6:00 PM 7:00 PM on Wednesday s beginning Wednesday, September 15 with a information session. In other words, it isn t a matter of beating our breast or putting ourselves down. Humility is recognizing that we are gifted, enriched, and nourished by God and then reaching out to others in the same way. Each Sunday we are invited to God s banquet table. We are nourished at the same time that we are called to share the abundance of God s life by reaching out to others in need. We eat and drink in order to be gracious to others. Eagle Scout Project Christopher Lehrer from Troop 104 is doing his Eagle Scout Project this Sunday, August 29. Our program, GIFT, Growing in Faith Together, is open to everyone - all ages and stages of life. Come join us. Retreat: Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the St. Al s Campus. We will begin with Mass at 9 AM and the retreat will conclude at 6 PM. Confirmation candidates only attend the retreat and must be present for the entire retreat. Sunday Confirmation Sessions: Sessions will be from 9 AM until 12 noon at the St. Al s Campus. We will begin our morning together at the 9 AM Mass. Celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation: Bishop Morneau will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with us on Wednesday, May 25th at 7 PM at St. Mary Church. The Christmas Stars production sponsored by Aces/Xavier is seeking a new director for the Cherub Choir. This choir consists of approximately 30 children in grades kindergarten through 2. Rehearsals are conducted on Sunday evenings from mid-september through November, and performances are held the first two weeks in December. The well-qualified candidate will have experience directing young school-age or pre-school children to perform vocal music in front of an audience. Basic piano skills are needed. Experience in working with large groups of children with minimal adult supervision is also necessary. The ideal candidate will additionally have a degree in Music or Music Education.
