6 ANNOUNCEMENTS, PAGE 1 NEXT SUNDAY we continue our reflection on African American spirituals and the journey of Lent. For a second week we will be looking at the temptation experience of Jesus in the wilderness. The sermon will be entitled Singing in the Dark, based on Matthew 4:5-11 and the spiritual Bow Down On Your Knees, also known as Po Mou ner s Got a Home at Last. Another spiritual that fits the theme is Angels Watchin Over Me My Lord. You can find both on Youtube to become familiar with the songs prior to worship. We will also be celebrating baptism and receiving new members, so be sure to be present to offer a warm welcome. MARKS OF A METHODIST SERMONS AVAILABLE IN PRINT. Copies of Dr. Harnish s sermons on the Marks of a Methodist are available in the Welcome Center. Also, you can see videos of the sermons on the church website NAME TAGS: Please wear a nametag when you attend worship. Our goal in March is to raise money to help build a classroom. This money will not only provide a classroom for the children, it will provide jobs for the adults in Haiti as they build the classroom. This project will be overseen by Faith In Action International so we can be confident that the funds will be used directly for this project. The children s Sunday morning offering and Lenten banks will go toward this important project. Because Jim Merritt will deliver our offerings when he travels back to Haiti in April, these are needed by April 2 nd. Questions? Contact Jim Merritt at mjjacken@gmail.com or Laura Burns at lburns@umcdunes.org.
