Our RCIA program offers the opportunity to learn about the Church s beliefs, Biblical foundations, and beauty as well as her 2000-year-old history, traditions, and practices. Our classes focus on the teaching of the Church and the experience of being Catholic. They will prepare you to enter the Church at Easter, when we celebrate the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation. 4 HOLY TRINITY CATHOLIC CHURCH May 20, 2018 Miniatures on the Mass MARY AND THE EUCHARIST "In a certain sense Mary lived her Eucharistic faith even before the institution of the Eucharist, by the very fact that she offered her virginal womb for the Incarnation of God's Word. The Eucharist, while commemorating the passion and resurrection, is also in continuity with the incarnation. At the Annunciation Mary conceived the Son of God in the physical reality of his body and blood, thus anticipating within herself what to some degree happens sacramentally in every believer who receives, under the signs of bread and wine, the Lord's body and blood. As a result, there is a profound analogy between the Fiat which Mary said in reply to the angel, and the Amen which every believer says when receiving the body of the Lord. Mary was asked to believe that the One whom she conceived through the Holy Spirit was the Son of God (Lk 1:30-35). In continuity with the Virgin's faith, in the Eucharistic mystery we are asked to believe that the same Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of Mary, becomes present in his full humanity and divinity under the signs of bread and wine." (Pope St John Paul II) Senior/Family Dinner Dinner will be held Sunday, May 20, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm in the cafeteria. The cost is $3 per person. 5 HOLY TRINITY CATHOLIC CHURCH May 20, 2018 Holy Trinity Breakfast Celebrate our Feast Day Sunday, May 27 Holy Trinity s Feast Day is Sunday, May 27, and Mike Bartusek will prepare a delicious breakfast for the parish after the Sunday Masses. He would like some help with set-up and clean-up. If you are able to help, please contact the parish office at Adoration (From Fr John A. Hardon, S.J., Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration Manual) It is important to remember that feelings of love, fervor, and devotion are not essential for adoration. Adoration is not a sentiment. Our adoration, therefore, begins when we walk in the door of the church. When we genuflect before the Blessed Sacrament, kneel in the pew, and show Him our respect by giving Him our full attention, we adore Him. When we turn off our cell phone and maintain a reverent silence in the Chapel, we adore Him. When we make a simple act of faith in His Real Presence, we adore Him. When we place ourselves before Him as empty vessels to be filled with His love, we adore Him. In our self-centered culture and classic American emphasis on work, we often feel we have to accomplish something during our times of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. We rate our experience by how good our prayer was, how heartfelt our devotion was, or how focused we could remain. Yet prayer and contemplation are fundamentally God s work, in which we are invited to participate. We need only to give Him the opening, and He will do the rest. By coming to adoration, we are handing Him the key to our hearts, allowing the rays of His love and grace to bathe our souls in the light of His Presence, as the rays of the sun bathe our bodies in light. If we can take the time to pull away from the busyness and distractions of life and just sit at His feet, He will lead us. Join us on the first Friday of every month to adore Christ in the Eucharist. This is a peaceful and prayerful time and is open to everyone. Spend fifteen minutes to an hour with Our Lord. Adoration begins immediately following the 7:30 am Mass on Friday, June 1, and continues through the beautiful Benediction at 6:00 pm. Adult Faith Formation This weekend, we conclude Dr. Edward Sri s excellent Who Am I to Judge? DVD series of lectures on moral relativism and how to counter its effects. Dr. Sri shows the truth and common sense of classical morality and the harmful effects of moral relativism. He helps us see that simple logic and three-step proofs will not persuade relativists of their errant thinking, since they hold an entirely different worldview and speak a different language. Most important, the series teaches us how to develop clarity and confidence about moral truth and how to effectively share it with others. If so, St. Mary s High School STEM Camp is the place to be this June! Our four-day camp offers students (current 5th-8th graders) an opportunity to explore a variety of exciting, hands-on STEM activities. The camp will run June from 8 am to 3:30 pm. Cost is $189/person, and includes lunches, admission fees, transportation, T-shirt, and completion certificate.
