And even though prac cing some of Lent's disciplines may have slipped through our hands, there is s ll plenty of me to begin again. There are daily Masses Monday through Friday at the parish, 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. and a special Mass at 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We also offer an 8:00 a.m. Mass every Saturday morning. We have Eucharis c adora on twenty four hours a day in our chapel. I would venture to guess that almost everyone knows someone who is in a nursing home or some other extended care facility. Why not make a short visit to see that great aunt or make a phone call to that former neighbor who now is no longer able to be in his home? Or, iden fy a person or group of people to pray for each day: Children preparing to receive their First Holy Communion, 8th graders preparing for their Confirma- on, Rite of Chris an Ini a on of Adults (R.C.I.A.) candidates in this parish and elsewhere, migrant families at our southern border, young men preparing to be ordained priests, the neighbors we assist through our St. Vincent de Paul Society, just to name a few. Whatever you do, do it for the love of God. God s blessings to you and your family. Sharing all of our gi s, our me in prayer, our talent in charitable works and our treasure to support Church needs helps us keep God first in everything. It helps us from pu ng other gods before God. It helps us to use our gi s for the glory of God and not for our own honor.

VINCENT DE PAUL Jerry was a hardworking man trying to get his life back together. He had a place to live and an OK job. But his job was far away and he had no transportation. Just the act of checking s regularly during his job search was nearly impossible. St. Vincent first got Jerry a bike to make getting to the bus easier and a voucher to the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store to get a much needed winter coat, hat and gloves. Finally, we were able to purchase a refurbished laptop. I will never forget his reaction when we gave him the bike. He cried tears of joy! He gave me a hug and told me he had never received a gift like that. It was truly humbling as I reminded him that it was a gift from the people of Holy Infant and he is always welcome here! -Member of Holy Infant St. Vincent de Paul Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic lay organization dedicated to providing person-to-person service to all in need right here at home. 5 Ministry of the Month: Venturing Crew 627 Venturing is a co-ed program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women of high school and college age. Venturing Crews can decide their purpose and objectives. Our crew primarily seeks high adventure experiences in the outdoors. We also do other fun things, having about one activity a month and a big trip in the summer. Because we are part of the Boy Scouts, we have available to us the excellent facilities of the Greater St. Louis Area Council, and the national High Adventure bases. We also belong to an active Venturing Officers Association which sponsors several large activities each year for Crews, Posts, and Ships in the St. Louis area. We are open to new members at any time during the year, and those who are considering joining may participate in up to two activities before making a decision. You can join Venturing if you are at least 13 years old and have completed eighth grade or when you turn 14. You can remain a Venturer until you turn 21. We also welcome adults of any age who need more adventure in their life. You can be a member of a Venturing Crew while you remain active as a Boy Scout or Girl Scout, and we also have members who have never been a scout. Former Boy Scouts who reached at least First Class rank can continue to advance toward Eagle Scout within the crew until they turn 18. We meet every other Sunday. 7 SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS: This year we will elect one (1) member to the Holy Infant School Board. Please take some time to read the bios and vote for one (1). Ballots will be available this weekend, April 6 and 7. John (Jay) Czarnecki: I am excited and honored to be nominated for a posi on on the Holy Infant School Board. My wife, Mandie, and I have three children; Bailee (9), Mia (7), and Cora (19 months). We have been members of the Holy Infant Parish family for just over four years, and have been involved in the local community for many more because of the deep family roots we have here. Bailee and Mia are the third genera on of our family to a end Holy Infant School. Mandie, along with her siblings, cousins, aunts, and uncles, have all been fortunate enough to receive the grace of the Sisters of Mercy! I grew up in Hillsboro, MO and a ended Hillsboro through both primary and secondary schools. Much of my youth was spent in gymnasiums and on fields, as I played every sport I could! Baseball was my first love, and I played un l my second year in college, when a car accident brought my me in compe ve sports to an end. I ve always felt very fortunate for that me as a team athlete as it taught me how to be one part of a greater whole. A er my sports career ended, I transferred to Southwest Missouri State University (now MSU), where I majored in Computer Science and minored in Mathema cs and Physics. My degree focus was on process op miza- on and algorithm design and analysis. In short, I focused on finding prac cal and useful solu ons to large problems. Because what good is a solu on if it isn t useful and prac cal? A er gradua on, I moved back to St. Louis and took a job as a so ware developer. Within about a year, I had bought a home and met Mandie, and we began building our life together. With that new life came new challenges and new opportuni es to use my talents. Some mes these opportuni es were obvious blessings, like the births of our daughters and the chances to advance my career posi on. Other mes, these challenges were blessings in disguise, like when a tree fell on and destroyed our house, or when we took on the daun ng task of completely rehabilita ng our dream home on the cliffs overlooking Castlewood. But even through the obstacles that have tried us, the blessings we ve been given have been extraordinary, and they have led us down the path that has brought us back to the parish of our families and into the wonderful parish family that is Holy Infant. I believe each of us is set on a path and given talents to use on our journey. To use those in the service of others is the greatest gi we can give! It would be a great honor to use my God-given talents to help Holy Infant find useful and prac cal solu ons to the everyday challenges we face so we can con nue to be the shining beacon that has drawn so many wonderful people home for so many long years. I want to give back to the community that has given so much me, energy, and grace to my family and me. I know I ve benefited greatly from the history of love in this parish family, and I d like to make sure that our children, and their children in turn, get to con nue to experience that extraordinary love! Judy Hess: Hello, my name is Judy Hess and I am extremely honored to be nominated as a candidate for the Holy Infant School Board. I have been a member of the parish my en re life and a ended Holy Infant School from Kindergarten through 8 th grade. I con nued my catholic educa on through high school at St. Joseph s Academy and college at St. Louis University. I currently work in Finance at St. Luke s Hospital. My husband Cary and I have been married for 12 years and have two daughters that a end Holy Infant School, Caroline is in 3 rd grade and Abigail is in 2 nd grade. My involvement at Holy Infant has included Pre-School of Religion (Coordinator and Teacher), CRHP (Lay Director), and Vaca on Bible School (Snack Coordinator) as well as several volunteer ac vi es for both the school and the parish including St. Pat s, the Fall Fes val, the school Auc on, class par es and various other classroom ac vi es. When deciding where to send our daughters to grade school, my husband and I felt it wasn t exactly a no brainer decision. He went to a wonderful public school at his hometown in northern Illinois and we live in a great school district that could provide many excellent opportuni es, but in the end we felt at home at Holy Infant School and value the faith based educa on our daughters are afforded. During our me at Holy Infant, we have loved watching our girls grow both academically and in their faith. It would be a privilege to serve on the school board to assist with the con- nued growth and development of Holy Infant school. I feel as parents, we have a responsibility to our children to provide for them the tools they need to be their best selves and I hope to have the opportunity to work with faculty, staff, and other parents to con nue in this endeavor. Thank you.

Sarah Miller: Be it known to all who enter here that Christ is the reason for this school, the unseen, but ever-present teacher in its classes, the model of its faculty, the inspira on of its students. Upon reading this mission, I was immediately drawn to Holy Infant School. What powerful words that embody the heart of our school community! My name is Sarah Miller, and I am both honored and excited to be running for School Board. My husband, Corey, and I have been members of the parish for the last seven years. We have three children: Will, who is in Mrs. Offerman s third grade class; Ben, who is in Mrs. Lenger s first grade class; and Leah who is three years old, and, admi edly, the boss of our house. I grew up in St. Louis, gradua ng from Our Lady of Providence (now Holy Cross) and Cor Jesu. I have a Bachelor s in Nursing from Mizzou followed by a Master s in Nursing Educa- on and finally (or so I m told by my husband) a Master s in Nursing- Family Nurse Prac - oner degree. I work three days/week as an FNP within the Mercy Urgent Cares. On my days off, I spend as much me as I can volunteering at Holy Infant (once you walk through the doors, the posi vity and warmth are infec ous!). I have served on the Auc on Commi ee for the last three years. I was co-hrp for Mrs. Church s Kindergarten class last year. My schedule offers flexibility that would provide me with the ability to fill in as needed with School Board responsibili es. I have truly come to have an overwhelming apprecia on for the opportunity to send my children to this wonderful school. I have a passion, and great respect, for educa on, and I truly feel that Holy Infant does an excep onal job of educa ng the whole person. I have seen firsthand how well our teachers modify their teaching plans to meet the unique needs of very different students. The faculty challenges students to work towards their full poten al, and does so with caring and warmth that is unprecedented. As a member of school board, I would work to con nue the rich tradi on of excellence that is inherent to Holy Infant School. I would con nue to dedicate my me and energy towards the development and growth of a school that I have grown to love. I am honored be considered to work in close proximity of our excep onal principal and pastor and I would certainly do my part to support this school in any way that I can.
