Masses on Ash Wednesday will be at 6 a.m., 8 a.m., our school Mass at 9:30 a.m. and at 7:00 p.m. It is always edifying to me to see so many who make the commitment to a end daily Mass during the season. Like Advent, the daily scripture readings are specially chosen and tailored to this peniten al and reflec ve season. It is always good to orient one's day with morning Mass, but even more appropriate during Lent. In addi on to our 6 o clock and 8 o clock Masses on weekday mornings, we have added a 5:30 evening Mass every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday throughout Lent. And even if one can't quite swing that, a driver on his way to work can turn off the radio for a few minutes and invite God into his or her day. Parishioners should be reminded that every week we have all-day, all-night adora on of the Eucharist in the Adora on Chapel. Just stopping in for a few moments of silent prayer can be a way of restoring peace to our hearts. As a friendly reminder, we also pray the Sta ons of the Cross on Fridays at 7 o clock in the evening beginning on March 8 th. We will also pray the Sta ons of the Cross on Mondays at 2:00 in the a ernoon when school is in session. The women of our parish are invited to a end the upcoming Christ Renews His Parish Retreat on Saturday March 30 th through Sunday, March 31 st. Andrew Burkemper will give a talk using Sacred Scripture, stories of the Saints and personal experience to help us rediscover the great gi s of God s grace and mercy in the Sacrament of Reconcilia on. Confessions will be heard a er the talk for all who are interested. On Sunday, March 24 th, in our Upper Cafeteria, Dr. Larry Feingold will give a talk to help us gain a deeper understanding of historical and present significance of the Sacrament of the Eucharist and on Sunday, March 31 st, Pa y Schneier will give a presenta on on pain, suffering, surrender and faith. This talk will take place in church. All are welcome to all of these special Lenten presenta ons! There are many almsgiving opportuni es available to us: a dona on to our St. Wenceslaus Food Pantry or the St. Vincent de Paul Society. We have also ordered the Li le Black Book daily reflec on booklets that parishioners might find helpful for observing the season of Lent. We helped her with food and money for Christmas presents. She needed someone to talk with, but couldn't afford counseling. We referred her to Stephen Ministry. She seemed so grateful. God judges our love for Him, not by what we give to Him, but by what we give to our neighbor.
