The perseverance and steadfastness of Moses as he pred to God for victory of the Israelites under the leadership of Joshua against the Aalekites proves this point. As long as Moses kept his ars raised to God, the Israelites prevailed over the eneies. When he becae tired and let his ars down, the Israelites would begin to lose the ight. So Moses was assisted by Aaron and Hur to hold up his ars until the Israelites inally won the battle. Perseverance in prer is also shown in the incident where a Gentile woan, even after she seeed to have been snubbed at irst, persisted in begging Jesus to heal her daughter- and she was granted her wish. The widow in this Sund s gospel was also relentless in her plea with the unscrupulous judge, and she inally won her case. Of course, the clearer point of this latter parable is that God, who is all good and erciful, will never fail to give every good thing to His children. (If a bad judge will soehow do soething good when soebody persistently nags hi, how uch ore will it be for a Good and Loving God when His children keep on asking in prer?) Many ties we not get an iediate response to our petitions. This should not lead us to give up. The del even help us deepen our sense of dependence on God. God knows what is good and what is not. Our liited huan knowledge will never be able to coprehend His plans and purposes. We only need to keep trusting Hi. Reinder: Every year, we hold our Parish Picnic in the onth of Noveber. It is a great tie for fellowship and unity within Resurrection Counity. We have alws enjoyed a d of good food, usic, fun and gaes. Of course, the whole activity begins with the celebration of the Eucharist at the picnic location (Dobson Ranch Park, 2359 S. Dobson Rod, Mesa 85202) This year, we shall hold our picnic on Noveber 13, 2016, fro 12 noon till 4 p. Everyone is invited to join and we will start selling tickets next weekend. In this connection, we once again call on volunteers to help us with soe tasks to ake the activity a successful one. We will have the volunteer signing-up next weekend. We also need generous donors for bingo and raf le prizes to give aw. Our Picnic Chairperson is Myrna Linares, assisted by Delta White. Of course, we ask the Knights of Colubus to take care of the grills for the hotdogs and burgers, and to help in other tasks that will need to be done. Coe one and all! The priests of Diocese of Phoenix will hold their andatory annual Clergy Retreat in Tucson this week. Fr. Jose and I will be attending the weeklong gathering. Fr. Joe Krynen will get help fro Msgr.
