But the seed sown on rich soil is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold." - Mt 13:22-23 M Y D E A R S I S T E R S A N D B R O T H E R S I N C H R I S T, I asked Fr. Wilfred Joseph Yinah to write up soething about hiself to help us know ore about hi being our new Parochial Vicar. He was born on March 2, 1980 to Sauel Aua Yinah (deceased) and Suzan Mbaeren Yinah. They hail fro Ukan Mbaivende Mbajoho in Ushongo Local Governent area of Benue state, Nigeria. Fr. Wilfred attended Kusaki Nursery & Priary School fro 1984 to Then he was sent to Gboko International Nursery and Priary School where he got his irst school graduation certi icate. Fro there, he attended W. M. Bristow Secondary School in Gboko fro Septeber,1993 to July, 1999 where he obtained his West African Exaination Council (WAEC) results with distinction. Although Fr. Wilfred was born fro a faily that belonged to the NKST (Nongu u Kristu u i Ser u sha Tar) or the Universal Refored Christian Church, he answered the Lord s call to serve hi as a priest of the Roan Catholic Church. He converted to the Catholic faith and went to St. Thoas Aquinas Major Seinary where he studied philosophy and theology. He was ordained priest on June 30, 2012, for the congregation of the Via Christi Society by Most Rev. Dr. Willia Aoave Avenya, Bishop of Gboko Diocese in Benue State, Nigeria. Fr. Wilfred began his pastoral work as Parochial Vicar at Holy Ghost Parish in Makurdi in April of He was very diligent in his duties as he started a healing inistry called "HOLY GHOST PRAYER MINISTRY " in which he held prer eetings with any failies and broken hoes that needed healing and restoration. The prer inistry reached out to the poor and the needy by assisting the spiritually and aterially. They were able to do this through donations of oney, food and clothing. In January, Fr. Wilfred was transferred to Udei Parish in Gua Local Governent of Benue state where he continued to shepherd the Lord s sheep and see that nothing given to hi is lost. He was able to achieve this through constant prer and dedication. He left a lasting ipression on the people of that counity with the establishent of Nule Nursery and Priary School, aong other things. He also helped with the Zanaria Huan Aid Foundation (a non pro it governent organization). Through his inistry, any children were helped in their priary, secondary and university education. Many failies and individuals were helped by setting up sall business ventures through which they are currently aking a living. Aside fro preaching the gospel of the Lord, bringing healing and deliverance to failies, he is also a fantastic singer. He has produced three usical albus to his nae which are Light, Coander of the Lord s Ary and Magni icat, the latter being the ost recent one which was launched on Noveber 9, 2016 at the Ainu Isah Kontogora Theatre Arts Coplex in Makurdi, the Benue state capital. Rev. Fr. Wilfred Joseph Yinah is a very caring and hard working priest. He is a power illed an of God, whose legacies are all over the places he went and worked. We welcoe Rev. Fr. PARISH WIDE SERVICE PROJECT SPONSORED BY THE YOUTH MINISTRY PROGRAMS Resurrection Parish will be collecting school supplies for the students along with clothing and health supplies all to bene it the Sequoia Charter School. ITEMS NEEDED INCLUDE Crons, arkers, colored pencils, scissors, coposition notebooks, watercolors, construction paper, backpacks, index cards, hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, band aides, chap stick and clear, calaine lotion. "But soe seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold." n the parable of the sower that Jesus tells in tod's Gospel, the ideal is to be "the seed sown on rich soil" that yields an abundant harvest. As Jesus explains, this eans we should strive to be "the one who hears the word and understands it." So how do we place ourselves in this category? How do we assure that we will hear God's voice (i.e., the word) and actually understand what he's sing to us? The answer coes in the parable itself. Jesus explains what we need to avoid in order to ake sure our seed bears fruit. First, we ust beware of "the evil one" who coes and steals aw the seed of God's word. Faithfully pring the Lord's Prer, with its request to "deliver us fro evil," is a good starting point here. Placing ourselves under God's protection every d is like taking up a shield against the forces that would seek to derail us. Secondly, we ust be coitted enough to God's word that "tribulation or persecution" do not uproot us or ake our faith wither and die. Here, too, sincerely pring the petition in the Lord's Prer-"Thy will be done"-can prepare us to accept whatever coes our w without waf ling or wavering. Finally, we ust be careful that "worldly anxiety and the lure of riches" do not "choke" us. Again, we turn to the Lord's Prer and ind an antidote built in: "Give us this d our daily bread." We pr not for a new car or a winning lottery ticket, but for our basic needs. So let us ebrace the prer Jesus gave us, indeed the words he hiself gave us to s, as we seek to truly hear and understand God's word. In addition, 8 clients were counseled with job searches and we had one successful placeent. The faily of Doris Macias wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the people of Resurrection Parish for their kindness and support during a dif icult tie. Mo s service was beautiful and we were grateful for the opportunity to share your eories of her years at Resurrection.
