2 Third Sunday of Easter April 30, 2017 You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence. Acts 2:28 Today's readings look back at both the Crucifixion and the Resurrection, remembering the promise given to David that Jesus would be raised from the dead. The Psalm and First Peter look forward to our lives as we await our resurrection and consider the sacrifice made by Jesus. Luke tells us the story of another experience of the risen Jesus. The disciples unknowingly walk with Jesus and tell him of the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. Jesus himself looks back with them to the promises made to Moses and all the prophets about his death and resurrection. Still they do not know who he is. It is only when he blesses and breaks bread and shares it with them that they realize it is Jesus. Then they race back to Jerusalem to tell the others. SLOW OF HEART After the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, two of the disciples hit the road and try to escape all the uncertainty, fear, remorse, and guilt they feel. They feel the same regret that the disciples feel in Acts and First Peter. They meet another man traveling the same road and are astonished when he seems to know nothing about the events that so occupy their thoughts. These events have consumed them, have broken their hearts, have left them downcast and blind to the very person who joins them on their journey. Their companion, Jesus, takes them through their own tradition, through the Old Testament promise that someone just like him would come, be killed, and would rise from the dead. Though they do not recognize him by the words alone, they do not want him to leave. Lucky for them he stays.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx IN THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD Despite all the hints, the disciples do not recognize Jesus. They remain consumed with their own confusion and fear and they cannot see who is right in front of them. It is only with the blessing, breaking, and sharing of the bread that they suddenly recognize Jesus. No words, however insightful, can penetrate the confusion and fear the disciples feel. Through the simple act of breaking and blessing bread they recognize Jesus. Even as their "hearts were burning," their minds did not know. How often do we not see what is right before us because we are so consumed with our own worries, regrets, concerns? Like the disciples it takes an action like the breaking of the bread, a reminder of the death of Jesus, his sacrifice, to get us to understand what our hearts already know.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Copyright (c) J. 5 Suy Niệm: Chúa Nhật thứ 3 Phục Sinh Một Thiên Chúa đồng hành với con người Trong hành trình cuộc sống, nhiều khi chúng ta tự hỏi: Thiên Chúa ở đâu? Người tín hưũ đôi khi cũng bị người khác hỏi: Thiên Chúa bạn ở đâu? Bài Tin Mừng về Chúa Giêsu phục sinh đồng hành với 2 môn đệ đi Emmau giúp chúng ta trả lời được những thắc mắc như vậy.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Hai môn đệ ở trong hoàn cảnh "mộng vàng tan mây, nhọc nhằn lê gót chân buồn đường dài" như cha Thành Tâm diễn tả. Lúc ấy hẳn là họ nghĩ Thiên Chúa ở nơi đâu hết sức cao xa. Nhưng thật ra Chúa Giêsu phục sinh đang đồng hành với họ mà họ chưa nhận ra ngay. Trên đường, Chúa cắt nghĩa Kinh Thánh cho họ, khiến lòng họ nóng lên. Lúc đồng bàn, Chúa bẻ bánh trao cho họ, khiến họ nhận ra Chúa. Từ chỗ hoang mang bỏ Giêrusalem ra đi, họ vui mừng quay trở lại Giêrusalem với anh em. Hôm nay Chúa Giêsu phục sinh vẫn đồng hành với chúng ta như vậy. Và Chúa cũng muốn đồng hành với con người thời nay như vậy. Có người không biết tại sao mình có mặt trên đời để. Có người đau khổ vì bệnh tật hay vì ác tâm của người đời. Có người buồn sầu vì những mất mát... Chúa muốn đồng hành với họ, soi sáng họ, dẫn đưa họ vào con đường Chúa đã đi để đến nơi Chúa đã đến. Chúa thực hiện điều ấy qua các môn đệ của Chúa. Tôi phải đóng vai của Chúa Giêsu phục sinh đối với người này, bạn phải đóng vai Chúa Giêsu phục sinh đối với người kia. Chúng ta trở thành Chúa Giêsu phục sinh cho nhau. Lạy Chúa Giêsu phục sinh, xin Chúa ở lại với chúng con, để chúng con vượt qua những hoang mang trong cuộc sống, đạt gới niềm vui, nhờ đó chúng con cũng có thể giúp anh em như vậy trong cuộc sống của họ. 6 EL EFECTO El efecto de compar r el cuerpo y la sangre de Cristo es el de conver rnos en aquello que recibimos. Papa San León Magno EN EL CAMINO Una metáfora importante que se emplea para describir la vida cristiana es la de una peregrinación. En la segunda lectura de hoy, Pedro se dirige a la primera comunidad cristiana: Vivan siempre con temor filial durante su peregrinar por la tierra (1 Pedro 1:17). Al pensar en una peregrinación, normalmente se nos ocurre algún tipo de movimiento del punto A al punto B. La peregrinación cristiana, que comenzó en las aguas del bautismo (punto A) tiene como destino final la vida eterna con Dios en el cielo (punto B). Desafortunadamente, en el transcurso tomamos todo tipo de desvíos. Debido al pecado, tontamente nos desviamos y a veces parecemos incapaces de detectar la presencia del Señor. Hoy, el relato de los dos discípulos camino a Emaús ilustra el hecho de que, aunque nos sentamos abatidos o muy desviados, el Señor está allí, caminando junto a nosotros. Copyright J. S. DUROS DE CORAZÓNxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Después de la crucifixión y resurrección, dos de los discípulos iban andando por un camino intentando escapar de la incertidumbre, miedo, remordimiento y culpa que abrigaban. Ellos sentían el mismo lamento de los discípulos que se mencionan en los Hechos y en la primera carta de Pedro. Ellos encontraron a un hombre viajando por el mismo camino y quedaron sorprendidos cuando se dieron cuenta que él no parecía conocer acerca de los acontecimientos de los que venían hablando entre ellos. Estos eventos los estaban consumiendo, les había roto sus corazones, dejado cabizbajos y cegado a la misma persona que se les unía en su camino. Su compañero, Jesús, los lleva hacia un recuento de su tradición, a través de la promesa del Antiguo Testamento que alguien como él vendría, sería asesinado y resucitaría de la muerte. Sin embargo, ellos no lo reconocen solo por sus palabras, no quieren que se vaya. Afortunadamente para ellos, él se queda.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx AL PARTIR EL PANxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Pese a todos esos pequeños detalles, los discípulos no reconocieron a Jesús. Permanecieron confundidos con sus propios miedos y no pudieron ver quien estaba justo frente a ellos. Es solo con la bendición, el partir y compartir el pan que ellos de pronto reconocen a Jesús. Sin palabras, un entendimiento que puede penetrar la confusión y el miedo que los discípulos tienen. Por la acción sencilla de partir el pan ellos reconocieron a Jesús. Aun cuando sus "corazones ardían", sus mentes no sabían. Qué tan frecuente no vemos lo que es correcto delante de nosotros porque estamos tan enfocados con nuestras propias preocupaciones, lamentos y miedos? Así como los discípulos, requiere una acción como el partir el pan, un recordatorio de la muerte de Jesús, su sacrificio, para que entendamos que nuestro corazón ya lo sabe.
