2 WINTER COLD AND FLU SEASON - ( excerpt from Bishop Barber s memorandum ) If you are feeling ill or think you may have been exposed to a virus, you are reminded to use common sense in the reception of Holy Communion. In the same way, you should refrain from offering your hand to others at the sign of peace. If you are not comfortable sharing the sign of peace for fear of infection, you should feel no pressure to do so. All of us must be aware of such sensitive matters in our Christian community and we should expect that some will refrain from the sign of peace out of care for our well-being and not out of unkindness or a lack of piety. Please be aware that the obligation to attend Sunday Mass does not apply to those who are ill, especially those who suffer from contagious disease. It is a sign of consideration for others that those with flu-like symptoms remain at home. We encourage those who are ill to unite themselves to our Crucified Christ and offer their sufferings for their sanctification and the sanctification of the whole world. Walk for Life West Coast 2018: Join fellow Catholics and Pro Lifers from all over California and beyond as we stand up for the littlest among us at the 14th Annual Walk for Life West Coast in San Francisco on January 27, There will be Mass at 9:30 am celebrated by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone at St. Mary s Cathedral. The rally begins at 12:30 pm in San Francisco s Civic Center Plaza, and the Walk, down the city s Market Street, begins at 1:30 pm. Last year s Walk drew 50,000+ people. 4 CATECHISM / EDUCATION CORNER\ Duc in Altum Mass Intentions Ý lễ trong tuần Intenciones para las Misas Week of January 20, 2018 Reliving our love of the Holy Mass Continuation on the Introductory Rites of the Holy Mass LITURGY OF THE WORD The proclama on of the Scriptures brings the community into the presence of the living God who speaks to them here and now. IT IS NOT A MERE READING OF OLD TEXTS. When the Sacred Scriptures are read in the Church, God himself speaks to his people, and Christ, present in His own words, proclaims the Gospel. Christ is present above all in the Eucharist, but CHRIST IS ALSO PRESENT IN THE SCRIP- TURES. It is not the priest or deacon who proclaims the gospel. It is Christ who proclaims the gospel. The people hear His words through the medium of the minister s voice. The Liturgy of the Word includes the readings from the Scripture both from the Old Testament and New Testament, the responsorial psalms, the gospel acclamation, the gospel, the homily, the profession of faith on Sunday and solemnities, and the prayers of the faithful. In the Scriptures, God continues to speak to His people. In the silence during the proclamation and in the singing of the responsorial psalms, the people make God s words their own. In the prayers of the faithful, those who have been nourished by God s word pray for the needs of the Church and the world. Reviviendo nuestro amor por la Santa Misa...continuation de los Ritos Introductorios de la Santa Misa LITURGIA DE LA PALABRA La proclamación de las Escrituras lleva a la comunidad a la presencia del Dios viviente que les habla aquí y ahora. NO ES UNA MERA LECTURA DE TEXTOS ANTIGUOS. "Cuando las Sagradas Escrituras se leen en la Iglesia, Dios mismo le habla a su pueblo, y Cristo, presente en sus propias palabras, proclama el Evangelio". Cristo está presente sobre todo en la Eucaristía, pero CRISTO TAMBIÉN ESTÁ PRESENTE EN LAS ESCRITURAS. No es el sacerdote o el diácono quien proclama el evangelio. Es Cristo quien proclama el evangelio. La gente escucha Sus palabras a través de la voz del ministro. La Liturgia de la Palabra incluye las lecturas de las Escrituras tanto del Antiguo Testamento como del Nuevo Testamento, los salmos responsoriales, la aclamación del evangelio, el evangelio, la homilía, la profesión de fe, y las oraciones de los fieles en domingos y solemnidades. Las redes eran su estilo de vida, la herramienta más importante de su trabajo como pescadores. Para estos primeros discípulos, sus redes representaban todo lo que sabían de la vida y de lo que podría ser. Aun así, ellos las hicieron a un lado, arriesgándose a un futuro desconocido para "pescar a personas" como Jesús lo había prometido. Qué es lo que tú necesitas dejar atrás? A muchas personas no se les va a pedir dejar sus trabajos para poder seguir a Cristo. Sin embargo, ciertamente debemos abandonar aquello que nos previene de vivir nuestras vidas auténticamente como seguidores de Jesús. Algunas veces debemos de dejar la vida que conocemos para poder abrazar una vida con sentido y significado de fe en Cristo. Con un espíritu de oración examina tu fe y vida. Hay algo que te amarre a las posesiones materiales? Hay relaciones o sentimientos que te previenen de vivir y crecer en la fe? Hay un hábito negativo que se interponga en el camino? Suelta aquello que se interponga entre ti y el Señor. Invita a la presencia sanadora de Dios, el perdón y la misericordia que transforma las redes, todo lo que te mantiene inmovilizado, y arriésgate a responder la llamada de Cristo al discipulado. 6 PHỤNG VỤ LỜI CHÚA Sự công bố Lời Chúa đưa cộng đoàn đến trước sự hiện diện của Thiên Chúa hằng sống, Đấng nói chuyện với dân Người ở đây và bây giờ. ĐÂY KHÔNG PHẢI LÀ LÚC ĐỌC SÁCH MÀ LÀ CÔNG BỐ LỜI THIÊN CHÚA. "Khi Thánh Kinh được đọc trong Hội Thánh, chính là lúc Thiên Chúa nói với dân của Người, và Chúa Kitô hiện diện theo lời của Ngài, tuyên xưng trong Tin Mừng." Chúa Kitô hiện diện trên hết trong Bí Tích Thánh Thể, nhưng CHÚA KITÔ CŨNG HIỆN TRONG KINH THÁNH VÌ CHÍNH NGÀI LÀ LỜI CỦA THIÊN CHÚA. Không phải là linh mục hay phó tế là người công bố Tin mừng. Chính Chúa Kitô tuyên bố, Ngài công bố Tin mừng. Dân chúng nghe những lời của Ngài qua môi miệng của các thừa tác viên công bố Lời Thiên Chúa. Phụng Vụ Lời Chúa bao gồm các bài đọc trong Kinh Thánh từ Cựu Ước và Tân Ước, các bài thánh vịnh đáp ca, điệp ca, Tin mừng, bài giảng, sự tuyên xưng đức tin và các nghi thức, và những lời cầu nguyện của tín hữu. Trong Kinh Thánh, Thiên Chúa tiếp tục nói chuyện với dân của Ngài. Trong sự thinh lặng của mỗi khoảng khắc sau khi công bố Lời Chúa và trong lời ca ngợi của các bài đáp ca, người ta làm cho Lời của Thiên Chúa được lắng động trong chính họ. Trong những lời cầu nguyện của tín hữu, những người được nuôi dưỡng bằng Lời Chúa cầu nguyện cho những nhu cầu của Giáo Hội và thế giới. Do đó, chúng ta cần phải tập trung để lắng nghe Lời Chúa trong Thánh lễ vì đó là lúc Thiên Chúa đang nói chuyện với chúng ta theo cách gần gũi nhất. ĐỨC GIÊSU GỌI CÁC MÔN ĐỆ ĐẦU TIÊN Đức Giêsu bảo các ông: Các anh hãy theo tôi, tôi sẽ làm cho các anh trở thành những kẻ lưới người như lưới cá. Lập tức các ông bỏ chài lưới mà theo Người. (Mc 1:17-18) Ngày tháng Giêng Hằng năm Giáo hội cử hành Tuần Lễ Cầu Nguyện Cho Sự Hiệp Nhất Kitô Giáo từ ngày tháng Giêng. Trong tám ngày này, chúng ta cầu nguyện cho sự hiệp nhất mọi giáo phái Kitô giáo, là đại gia đình của Chúa Kitô trên toàn thế giới, được nên một như lời cầu nguyện của Chúa Giêsu: Lạy Cha, xin cho tất cả được nên một, như vậy thế gian sẽ nhận biết là chính Cha đã sai con. Xin quý ông bà và anh chị em cùng hiệp ý với Giáo Hội cầu nguyện cho sự hiệp nhất bình an trong tâm hồn, nơi gia đình, trong xứ đạo, và nơi những người tin vào Chúa Kitô. Ngày 25 tháng Giêng Thánh Phaolô Tông Đồ Trở Lại Phaolô tên thật là Saolô, quê ở Tarsê xứ Cilicia, là người Do Thái thuộc chi tộc Benjamin. Nhưng vì gia đình đã nhập tịch Rôma nên ngài cũng là một công dân Rôma. Thuở nhỏ, Saolô rất trung thành với truyền thống cha ông. Ngài là một phần tử hăng say trong nhóm biệt phái và thù ghét các Kitô hữu. Sau khi tham dự vào cuộc ném đá Stêphanô, ngài bắt đầu bách hại Giáo Hội. Với sự chấp thuận của thượng tế Do Thái, ngài xuống Ðamas truy tìm tín hữu. Nhưng trên đường đi, ngài đã bị một luồng sáng bao phủ và vật ngã. Bỗng có tiếng phán: "Saolô, sao ngươi bách hại Ta". Saolô hỏi lại: "Ngươi là ai?". Tiếng đáp lại: "Ta là Giêsu mà ngươi đang tìm bắt". Và Saolô đã quy thuận: "Lạy Chúa, Chúa muốn con làm gì?" Ông Anania, một môn đệ của Chúa đã đến gặp ngài tại Ðamas. Mắt ngài được sáng và ngài đã nhận lãnh Phép Rửa. Từ đó cuộc đời ngài đổi mới. Ngài nhiệt thành rao giảng Tin Mừng. Với tên gọi Phaolô, ngài đã rảo gót khắp nơi để loan truyền Tin mừng ơn cứu độ, xứng đáng với tước

7 The Filipino Association of Saint Felicitas Church in San Leandro invites you, your family and friends to join us in our annual fiesta of Sr. Sto. Niño. Our celebration will be on January 27 th- Saturday at Saint Felicitas Church. The fiesta activities begin with the rosary and novena prayer to Sr. Sto. Niño at 3:30 p.m. followed by the celebration of the Holy Mass. We also encourage you to bring you own statue of Sr. Sto. Niño to the church on that day. After mass, we are going to have the blessing of the statues and procession around the Church area. Reception and fellowship will follow at the School Gym. Everyone is invited, Filipinos and non Filipinos, to celebrate the gift of the Holy Child, the Emmanuel GOD with us!
