We offer them to become a sacrifice of praise in gratitude of your love for us. Benneth will be available on Saturday at 10.00am (after Mass) or by appointment. THE NICENE CREED I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. Benneth has requested that parishioners who are attending Mass at another parish to please attend and support our Masses here at St. Anne s. We now have additional mass times so please check the notices in the foyer.

These will commence on Wednesday 21st February at 7.30pm at the Parish Centre, for 6 weeks, along with the RCIA Group. All welcome. A reminder to all our parishioners that a lay person is not permitted to dip the Host into the Chalice as this is consecrated to be the Blood of Christ. PIETY STALL Our piety stall has moved and is now located next to the Sacristy. You can also collect your Parish donations cards from here each week if you wish to use these for the collection baskets. A very big thank you to all who helped to move the Piety Stall this week over many busy hours Val & Brian Quirk, Rosie & Peter Vyverberg, Kerryn Johnson & Marilyn Harvey. Please do come and have a look if you haven t recently, there are gifts for children, angels, rosary beads, bibles, Order of Mass booklets, holy pictures, Easter gifts, key rings, candles and candle holders, and lots of beautiful jewellery. ST. JOACHIM S SCHOOL NEWS The staff and students at St Joachim's have had a wonderful start to the 2018 school year. We warmly welcome new and returning families to our school community, especially the Prep families. We warmly welcome new staff member Wendy Rodrigeuz who will be working in the role of Learning Support Officer and Donna Zammit who will be teaching in JLN on Friday. It is a very exciting time for the staff, students and their families.

4 Sacramental Programme 2018 Enrolments for our Sacramental Programme for 2018 will open next Tuesday 6th February, and will close on Friday March 2nd. Enrolments will only be processed at the Parish Office during our regular office hours. Copies of the Parish Sacramental Policy that includes all relevant sacramental dates for this year are available in the church foyer or from the Parish Centre, or on our parish website. Students who attend our parish schools and are eligible to receive Sacraments this year will receive a copy of the policy at school to take home to their parents/guardians. OUR FUTURE OUR PARISH OUR VISION Dear Parishioners, One of my immediate responsibilities, as I begin at this Parish, is to bring to conclusion our Parish Project which has been under discussion for quite some time. I have met with Dermot Cannon from the Archdiocese to discuss the future direction of the Parish, as begun by Fr. John over the past two years. From my understanding, the parishioners have had their input into the decision making about the future of our Parish. As your new Parish Priest, my responsibility and passion will be to make sure that the best is done for our Parish. I will make use of the information already provided to me by Fr. John and the Archdiocese, and please God that a final decision will be made, very soon, which will help us to best move forward. I will continue consulting with Dermot and some parishioners who surely will represent your interests. I would like to encourage everyone to pray and have your best intentions for this endeavour. We have a great Parish and together we can do more great things! Fr. Benneth The Archbishop, on behalf of the Bishop s Conference, has advised that we dedicate the following days 14 to 17th February as days of fasting in our Parish for child sexual abuse and for the healing of victims. There will be a prayer leaflet in the foyer that you may use for these days. 5 Season of Lent Good Works Charity Over the past few years we have supported various charities during Lent. This year as a parish we have decided to support the following groups: Parishioners Crisis Support Fund Caritas Australia, Project Compassion Community Companion Food & Outreach Trailer Information on these groups are available in this bulletin and also in the foyer of the church. In addition to the information there are the usual Project Compassion envelopes and boxes plus donation envelopes for the other 2 groups. There is provision on the back of the envelope for you to request a receipt for taxation purposes. Please note that donations to the Parishioners Crisis Support Group nor the Community Companion Food & Outreach Trailer are not tax deductible. Envelopes can be placed in the collection bags at weekend Masses or can be left at the parish centre. Parishioners Crisis Support Fund Some of our parishioners that attend Mass here each week and are very much a part of our parish family struggle to survive financially. Often there is little in reserve. This is all well and good as long as nothing unforeseen comes along such as unexpected medical or household expenses or sudden loss of employment. If something like this does happen families or individuals can experience high stress levels wondering how they are going to manage financially. Many struggle to see how they might make ends meet and survive this crisis. Many are concerned about what the future may hold for themselves or their family. Many of you might say that the parish has a strong and vibrant St. Vincent de Paul conference who could assist these parishioners. It is not intended that this Crisis Support Fund compete with or undermine the valuable work that the dedicated members of the St Vincent de Paul group undertake in the parish. The people that this fund assists are members of our own parish family - active in the life of the parish and well known by fellow parishioners. It is for these reasons that they are reluctant (due to either embarrassment or pride or a combination of both) to seek assistance for themselves or their family through St Vincent de Paul. When crisis or financial hardship impacts on a family member other family members rally to lend their support. The same should apply when one of our own in the parish hits a rough patch. Who better to demonstrate our loving care and practical financial support than a member of our own parish family. Donation envelopes are available in the church foyer. Unfortunately donations to the Parishioners Crisis Support Fund are not tax deductible.

6 Caritas Australia Project Compassion Project Compassion is Caritas Australia s annual fundraising and awareness-raising appeal, bringing thousands of Australians together in solidarity with the world's poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity. Running through the six weeks of Lent each year, Project Compassion is an extraordinary, ongoing demonstration of the faith, love and generosity of caring supporters, all in the name of justice and peace. It is the lifeblood of Caritas Australia; without it, we could not do the vital work we do. The theme for Project Compassion 2018 is A Just Future. Food is essential for all life, yet many of the world s poorest people do not have food security. That means they live from day-to-day, uncertain of how to afford or how to access their next meal. Without food, the rest of life is impossible to contemplate: how can you plan for the future or educate your children when you fear you will be hungry? As Pope Francis says: It is a well-known fact that current levels of production are sufficient, yet millions of people are still suffering and dying of starvation. This is truly scandalous. Project Compassion 2018 explores how Caritas Australia is helping the world s poorest people establish sustainable food, walking with them as they free themselves from the burden of food insecurity and develop new, improved income streams for a better future. Donation boxes and envelopes are available in the church foyer. Receipts for cash donations will be issued by the Parish; credit card receipts are issued directly via Caritas Australia. Community Companion Food & Outreach Trailer The Community Companion was created by the students of John Paul College in response to the heightened need of homeless and marginalised in our local community. The students saw the injustice of poverty and so they fundraised some $12,000 to purchase the food trailer and further fundraising to outfit and stock it with food. The students chose the name, Community Companion, to highlight the goal of not only providing food for the hungry but also providing respectful companionship acknowledging the dignity of each person who attends. Since August 2014, the Companion has been heading into central Frankston each and every Tuesday from 5pm until 7pm handing out hot food, hot drinks, food parcels, blankets, clothing and most importantly kind conversations with those who are homeless or marginalised in our community. The Companion is staffed by student volunteers each week, together with staff of JPC. It provides this service through the generosity of donations from students, their families and the broader community. The project receives no funding from government or any agency and is completely reliant on donations. In 3 years the Community Companion has assisted 5,660 people over 632 hours of service this is around people every week. The Community Companion have just received permits to allow them to expand their services to a Thursday night in addition to the hours they already do, and seeking further support financially and through volunteer assistance through the schools and parish to run an extra night. Our Parish would like to support this project particularly in line with the Year of Youth theme to highlight the fantastic work done by Catholic youth in our local suburbs.
