THE MOST HOLY BODY & BLOOD OF CHRIST First Reading: Genesis 14:18-20 Melchizedek, a priest of God, prayed that Abram would be blessed by God. He also praised God for delivering Abram's foes into his hands. Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 Paul describes Jesus' actions during the last supper. Jesus broke bread and said it was his body given for us, asking that we do the same in remembrance of him. He then passed the cup and called it his blood. Jesus then asked us to break bread in this manner to remember his death until he returns. Gospel: Luke 9:11b-17 Jesus spoke to a large crowd when his disciples asked that he dismiss the people to give them a chance to find food and lodging. Jesus asked the disciples to give the crowd something to eat, but they had only five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus then blessed and distributed the food, which fed about 5,000 people. Twelve baskets were then collected from what was left over. This examination of what marriage really is, and what it is not, provides a truly gracious and persuasive response to the debate surrounding this important topic. The CD s along with other informational pamphlets and prayer cards can be found in the stand at the back of each church. A good will offering would be appreciated BUT NOT NECESSARY. If after you have enjoyed the CD and don t want to keep it, please pass it on or return it to the CD holder for someone else s use. WOMEN S GUILD BREAKFAST The Women s Guild is hosting a breakfast on Sunday June 5th after the 9:30 Mass in St. Christopher s Church Hall. The breakfast will be catered by Foodworks. Menu: Scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage, breakfast potatoes, pastries, juice and coffee. All Women s Guild members and Men s Guild members and their guests are invited. $14 dollars per person. Payment by cash or check made to St. Christopher s can be placed in an envelope stating Women s Guild Breakfast - Attention Lori Noyes/Annette Nedeau and placed in Sunday s collection basket. WOMEN S GUILD UPCOMING YEAR Members of the Women's Guild of St. Christopher's and St. Theresa's will gather at the 9:30 Mass on June 5th, which is being offered for the deceased members of the Guild. Officers for the upcoming year are: Pauline Nadeau and Kathy Gallagher, co-presidents, Annette Nedeau, secretary, Lori Noyes, treasurer. We express our thanks to outgoing co-presidents Kary Miksis and Pat Karp for their hard work and commitment during the past two years. Please mark your calendars for Monday, August 1st. There will be a planning meeting at 6:30pm in St. Christopher's hall. All women of St. Christopher's and St. Theresa's are welcome to come and share their ideas. 5 Adoration Dates and topic MORE EVENTS PASTOR S CORNER ST. THERESA S YARD SALE We have started painting the interior of St. Christopher church. The project will take approximately three weeks. I am asking everybody for patience during this time. Time to do your spring cleaning as St. Theresa's Church will be holding our annual yard sale June 3rd, 4th, and 5th. You may start dropping off items Wed. May 18th to Tues. May 31st. We are looking for saleable items including small appliances, pocket books and purses, but absolutely NO clothing, computers, tvs, printers,and encyclopedias. At the same time, I want to express my gratitude to my trustees, finance council and everyone involved for supporting this project. God bless! We are also looking for large gift baskets that will hold the many items for our Feast Basket Raffles. ALSO if you are available for sorting, cleaning and pricing items, we would be glad to have your help. We will be there evenings from 5 to 8 pm., any questions please call Jean at ELECTRONIC GIVING What do I have to do to set this up? Many of you already pay your bills electronically this is no different. Contact you banking institution to set this up. The bank will send your parish a check for the amount you have indicated on the day you have selected. Some people do this weekly, others monthly. But I won t have anything to put in the collection basket. Starting with the next budget envelope packet, there will be a box to check off on each envelope that reads I gave electronically. You can use this to place in the collection if you choose. What benefit is there to electronic giving? Giving electronically on a set schedule not only makes is easier for you it also assists the parishes when planning budgets. The budget packet will also be a budget aid to you, letting you know in advance when there is a special second collection for the parish or a Diocesan or National collection.
