Please contact the Parish Office, Mondays 9am- noon ( ) FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME First Reading: Jeremiah 1:4-5, God tells Jeremiah that he was chosen to be a prophet to the nations before he had even been born. He also promises him strength and protection, providing Jeremiah does as God asks. Second Reading: 1 Cor 12:31 13:13 Paul discusses the importance of love and claims that one who possesses any gift, but lacks love, has nothing. He explains that true love never fails, although knowledge or other talents can fail to endure in the same manner. Paul says that three things last: "faith, hope, and love, the greatest of these being love." Gospel: Luke 4:21-30 Jesus spoke in the synagogue at Nazareth, at first appealing to all who were present. But he knew that they would be expecting him to do the things he had already done in other towns. He reminded them of other prophets who had preached and gained acceptance in foreign places instead of their home towns. This angered the people, who expelled him from town. 3 ST. VALENTINE SOCIAL NEXT SUNDAY! Parishioners of St. Theresa and St. Christopher are invited to attend a social to celebrate the feast date of St. Valentine on Sunday, February 10th from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at St. Theresa's parish hall. Please come and enjoy food, games, and fun while supporting the Confirmation youth of our parish. Confirmation I and II students are excited to host the event for our whole parish community. ATTENTION WOMEN S GUILD MEMBERS AND NON MEMBERS TOO. Our next meeting will be held Monday, February 4th at 6:30 pm in St. Christopher hall. After business is completed, we will have Game Night. This weekend Saturday & Sunday, February 2nd & 3rd immediately following each Mass please join us for a special blessing of the throats. Holding two blessed (and unlit) candles lightly against the throat, Father will say a special blessing that we be spared throat ailments. All are welcome to participate. Carry one another s burden Deacon Jesse and Agnes Martins Fund On New Year s Day, Deacon Jesse and Agnes Martins lost their home and all belongs in the horrific apartment fire in Fall River. The Outreach Ministry of St. Theresa and St. Christopher has set up a fund to assist them. Monetary donations can be made by sending a check to St. Theresa Church, either by mail or dropping an envelope, labeled Martins Fund, in the collection basket at Mass. All donations will be used to assist the Martins directly. Thank you for your support and generosity. FEAST CHAIRPERSON VOLUNTEER SEARCH We are looking for anyone interested in becoming our St. Theresa Feast Chairperson. 4 ST. THERESA ANNUAL COLLECTION WEEK 10: $ TOTAL: $29, CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS Yearly contribution statements are being prepared. Once available, a copy may be mailed to you upon request. To request a copy of your statement please call the parish office at (401) Please plan ahead; all statement reports are generated at one - week intervals. ELECTRONIC GIVING What do I have to do to set this up? Many of you already pay your bills electronically this is no different. Contact your banking institution to set this up. The bank will send your parish a check for the amount you have indicated on the day you have selected. Some people do this weekly, others monthly. But I won t have anything to put in the collection basket. There is a box to check off on each envelope that reads I gave electronically. You can use this to place in the collection if you choose. What benefit is there to electronic giving? Giving electronically on a set schedule not only makes it easier for you, it also assists the parishes when planning budgets. The budget packet will also be a budget aid to you, letting you know in advance when there is a special second collection for the parish or a Diocesan or National collection. SANCTUARY LAMP MEMORIAL The Sanctuary Lamp is located by the side of the Tabernacle and is always kept lit to indicate and honor the presence of Christ. If you wish to have the Sanctuary candle burning in memory of a deceased loved one or a special intention, please call the Parish Office. The Sanctuary Lamp contains a special wax candle that burns for seven straight days before it is changed. The cost of the candle is $5.00. The candle will burn for one week and an announcement for the intention or memorial will be published in the parish bulletin.
