1 St Peter's Church, Raunds Newsleer No. 8, February Happy New Year! We are thrilled to announce the good news that the benefice vacancy has been filled and we can look forward to John Aldwinckle and his wife Wendy joining us to lead us forward in this new phase of our journey. More informa#on in separate ar#cle. Christmas seems a long #me ago and we are nearly at the end of Epiphany. The Christmas services went well (apart from 9 Lessons and Carols which was cancelled due to snow). The Chris#ngle collec#on raised 441 for the Children's Society and 80 Chris#ngles were given out during the Chris#ngle service and it was lovely to see children and staff from Windmill School and Brownies. As usual, the Candlelit service on Christmas Eve was popular. The church repairs are proceeding well. A Lent course will be held on Tuesday lunch#mes star#ng on February 20th. Also there will be a Benefice prayer mee#ng on Thursday February 8th at at Xanadu in Hargrave. Both events involve a light lunch so it would be helpful to know how many are likely to come but all are welcome. If you have any contribu#ons for the next newsle<er please send to or give to Judy (cawabs@aol.com) or Sue (sueclements@btopenworld.com) by the last Sunday in February.

3 We are delighted to announce that, following interview and with the unanimous approval of the parish representa#ves and the representa#ve of the patron, The Lord Chancellor, the Reverend Jonathan Aldwinckle has accepted Bishop Donald s invita#on to be Rector of Raunds, Hargrave, Ringstead and Stanwick. Subject to the normal Church of England legal and administra#ve procedures, Jon will be Ins#tuted and Inducted by the Bishop of Brixworth in St Peter s, Raunds on Sunday 22 April 2018 at 3pm. Jon is currently an Assistant Curate at Christ the King, Ke<ering. He says that his and Wendy's #me at Christ the King has been very fruikul, prayerful and enjoyable. They would like to thank Rob Bewley, the staff team and congrega- #on there for their love and support and would ask for their con#nued prayers. Jon and Wendy look forward to furthering God s kingdom with the help and support of the congrega#ons of the 4 Spires benefice. We ask your prayers for Jon and Wendy as they prepare to move to Raunds. Raunds Food Bank and Community Cafe The people of Raunds and Thrapston have overwhelmed us with their generosity over the Christmas period, and we were able to give out over 20 Christmas hampers, as well as the regular food parcels. Our thanks, in par#cular, include Park Infant School for making Christmas cards, Manor School for the Christmas boxes, the Angel kni<ers and many individuals (especially Henry and Ade), as well as Raunds and Thrapston Co-Ops, Tesco Express with Fareshare and Holloway Farm for their weekly dona#ons. This month we would like to thank Raj Mini Market in Marshalls Road for dona#ng their old stock to the Foodbank, as part of their refurbishment. It is great that local businesses are helping us, so, in return, please support them. I would also like to thank our regular customers at the Cafe. Without them we wouldn't be able to offer such a good service to our clients. The cafe and Foodbank are open on Thursday mornings from 9.30 #ll 12 noon.
4 Ginny Pledger Child & Family Worker Happy New Year everyone, I hope that you all had a peaceful Christmas. The start of the New Year has been a busy one with lots of exci#ng events and projects being planned for Just to recap on December 2017, it was a busy one with the schools and parishes. Knied angels in the end we sent out over 1,000 angels across the Benefice. Well done everyone it was a fantas#c achievement. Some of you may have even seen Stanwick on the television! I am just finishing up the plans for 2018 for a kni<ed Mary (thank you Sue Harris for the modified pa<ern and prototype). I ll give you all more details next month but start saving your blue wool! Experience Christmas this was a #ring but wonderful week spent in St Peter s Academy school. Sarah Folkard kindly opened up the school hall for us to host the event. St Peter s Academy, Park Infants and Windmill Schools all took part and lots of fun was had by all. A big thank you to Toni Wright, John & Jo Kidney, Val Mian, Dayna Parish, Becci Evans, Helen Parry, Rachael Newman, Judy Heuser for covering a sta#on. Your help was much appreciated Christmas Cards A big thank you to Park Infants Recep#on children for making some wonderful Christmas cards for the customers of the Foodbank. A Christmas card and kni<ed angel were given out to each customer. Hargrave Christmas Party A huge thank you and well done to everyone that came together in true community spirit to help at the Hargrave Christmas party. Unfortunately, the snow prevented me from leaving my house, let alone managing to travel anywhere. Due to the snow, the procession and church service had to be cancelled but I understand that lots of food and fun was had by everyone who a<ended. Chris&ngle - Chris#ngles were sent into Grassroots Nursery again this year. This is well received with the children enjoying puong them all together. Lots of s#cky fun. January 2018 Park Infants Assembly their assembly was on Apprecia#on. We had lots of fun hearing how God chose the colours of the rainbow, with ac#ons too. That is about it for this month. We have some fun community events planned for the coming months so keep an eye out on the 4 Spires website and the no- #ces in church. Un#l next month take care and God bless. Ginny Pledger
