Residents with wayside stalls and garage sales around the village, selling bric a brac, produce, craft items, books, clothing anything saleable. Wilsford Woodwork. Cream Teas. Children s activities and Treasure Hunt. Stalls round Paddock Close and in the churchyard and inside the church, including plants, ceramics and St. Barnabas Hospice. All stallholders are asked to donate 5 to Wilsford Church funds. (Please phone Fairheads on for further details, or to book a stall and get onto the Village Market Map). St. Mary s Church,Wilsford also open on Saturday 7 th July a.m. to 4.30 p.m. for the WW1Centenary Exhibition. Interesting records of the 22 men from Wilsford featured on the War Memorial East Window in the Church. Refreshments. Stalls. 3 Eternal God, We give You thanks for the holiday season and its many blessings. We pray for families who cannot take a break, for whatever reason, that they also may know times of refreshment and happiness. We thank You for the many Christian clubs and activities, run by volunteers, during these summer months, which support, inspire and encourage children to learn more about themselves and of Your love for them. 5 MESSAGE FROM THE MINISTRY TEAM Aren t flowers wonderful! On 9 th June we paid a visit to the Flower Festival at Ancaster Church and were simply bowled over by the artistic skills shown in the flower arrangements depicting Simple Pleasures. All the things we can enjoy in our spare time days by the seaside, hobbies, sports and leisure activities (especially gardening) portrayed in flowers. Children s interests were also well represented with flowers from pre-school, school and Brownies and Guides. Everyone was involved. Looking round at the colourful displays, I just thought surely, the most simple pleasure we have is the enjoyment and appreciation of God s creation All things bright and beautiful. How lovely the countryside round here has looked during May and early June. The white clouds of daisies and cow parsley along the grass verges, yellow buttercups, white and pink blossoms in the hedgerows. I found it interesting that, for the recent Royal Wedding, flower arrangers went to considerable expense and effort at St. George s Chapel, Windsor, to recreate an image of the Summer countryside with white roses and white blossoms in greenery. We have this beauty round here for free all the time, and how lucky we are! Just a stroll round the garden on a sunny day, listening to the birds (and looking for weeds!) can really give you that feelgood factor and is as good as saying a prayer or taking part in a church service. I am sure that many of our readers agree wholeheartedly with the well known verse: The kiss of the sun for pardon, the song of the birds for mirth, One is nearer God s heart in a garden than anywhere else on earth. For those people who find it difficult to believe that there is an all-loving God who created the beautiful flowers in our countryside and gardens and that it is just a matter of chance here is another verse to consider: If Chance can dance the dust afar in myriad motions to a star, If Chance can mould with pollen gold the silken seeds where lilies are, If Chance one daisy can unfold, then God the hand of Chance must hold. 6 NOTICES WEDNESDAY At Ancaster on the second Wednesday of each month there is a service of Holy Communion at 9.30am. The next ones will be on July 11th and August 8th. All are welcome. WEDNESDAY MORNING HOME GROUP The weekly Bible Study group meets during term time at 10.15am, venue, courtesy of Elizabeth and Henry. Please ring for further details. CURSILLO (Pronounced kursee-yo) A movement within the Church enabling Christians to grow through prayer, study and action, that all may share God s love. Start time a.m. (coffee etc. available) until 12 noon. Do come along. You will be very welcome.
