Camp Casey Conference Center on Whidbey Island Wondering how to talk with your irritating brother-in-law? Feeling helpless when other people are in conflict? Discouraged about our political division? Join Ruth Lee for a weekend retreat where you will develop or refine skills of listening at a deeper level to help move from conflict to healthy interaction. Dr. Mae Elise Cannon, executive director of Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP) as she hosts a conversation with Jessica Montell (an Israeli peace-builder and executive director of HaMoked: Center for the Defense of the Individual) and Sami Awad (a Palestinian Christian and executive director of Holy Land Trust), about peacebuilding and advocacy related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Learn what it means to be someone who pursues peace, while also advocating for justice in the Israeli- Palestinian conflict and beyond. Hosted by Trinity s Community & Middle East Peace Builders. School Supplies for Lutheran World Relief WAY Student Ministries continues to collect school supplies to send overseas via Lutheran World Relief, a project begun at VBS this past Summer. Through October, please bring the following items for donation and place in the blue bin in the narthex: 70-sheet notebooks; 30cm ruler; Pencil sharpener; Blunt scissors; #2 pencils; ballpoint pens; crayons (26 or 24 count); 2.5 eraser; money to buy backpacks.

Alison Weir Lecture & Presentation Friday, November 16, 6 9 PM Alison Weir, writer and activist, is the Executive Director of If Americans Knew, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing Americans with information of importance that is misreported or under reported in American media. She is a free lance journalist who has traveled independently through Gaza and the West Bank. The theme of her presentation will be Justice for All? What Don t Americans Know (and should know) about Israel-Palestine? Hosted by Community & Middle East Peace Builders. Light fare and drinks provided. All are welcome. Basket for Open Door Ministries Annual Gala Open Door Ministries is having its annual gala fundraiser, dinner & auction on November 3 at South Seattle Community College (more at opendoorelca.org). Trinity has been asked to provide a large winter kitchen/cooking basket for the silent auction. Please contact Jenny Vanderwerff (jbvanderwerff@gmail.com) if you can help in any of the classes. Children s Choirs & Youth Ringers Children s choirs rehearse at 10 AM following Footprints. Teachers will dismiss children to their choir rooms. Youth Ringer rehearsals begin Sun., October 7, 10:30-11 AM in room 202. Open to all, 3rd grade thru high school. Trunk or Treat Sunday, October 28 Children are invited to come and Trunk or Treat around the Trinity parking lot. There will be a costume parade and cocoa/cider in the narthex. We need trunk hosts! Decorate the trunk of your car, dress up in a costume, and be ready to greet the children and hand out candy. Contest with prizes for best decorated trunk! Contact Theresa Larsson (larsson.theresa@gmail.com) if you can bring and sponsor a trunk. WAY Student Ministries NET (high school, grades 9 12) Next meeting 10/14, 6-8 PM in the multipurpose room. Adult Education/Faith Formation Sundays Through Nov. 18, 9 AM: Jeff Tobin leading a series on How Lutheran Interpret the Bible This class will feature a weekly video segment followed by class discussion. Dr. Mark Allan Powell a Lutheran pastor and Bible professor at Trinity Lutheran Seminary is the video presenter. Topics will include: Where the Bible Comes From, Interpreting the Bible in Context, Determining Right From Wrong and The Many Meanings of the Bible. All are welcome. Wednesdays 9:30 AM: An ongoing study of the upcoming Sunday's readings. Freed Up Financial Living Good Sense Movement A six-session class that helps you discover tools and develop skills to help your finances, so your finances don t end up controlling you. Among other topics, you will learn some of the scriptural wisdom on finances. We are looking for interested participants for either 6 sessions over 6 weeks, or a one-day seminar format.
