1 November 4, 2018 All Saints Sunday CONNECTING IN MISSION CLASS Sunday, December 9, Noon-1:30 PM Are you looking to get engaged with and learn more about Trinity? Maybe you just started coming, or maybe you ve been here for a while. Regardless, you are invited by Christ in Mark s gospel to go across to the other side and take that leap of faith into the unknown. Join Pastor Hector for this introductory class in which you will explore what it means to be a disciple of Christ and join God s mission of discipleship through the ministries of Trinity. A light lunch will be provided. We will welcome the group into the Trinity community during worship on December 16. Living Water Sunday at Trinity On the first Sunday of each month, we invite offerings for Living Water in addition to our regular offerings. Living Water is a hunger initiative of Trinity and Edmonds Lutheran Churches that digs wells of hope for a thirsty world, because out of the believer s heart shall flow rivers of living water. Fair Trade Bazaar & Int l Ministry Fair Sun., Nov. 11, 8 AM Noon Start your Christmas shopping early and support artisans worldwide by purchasing their handmade treasures. We will once again be set up to accept credit and debit cards. Most TLC international ministries will have either goods for sale or informational tables so you can learn more about their exciting progress. Compassionate Listening Retreat Nov. Camp Casey Conference Center on Whidbey Island Wondering how to talk with your irritating brother-in-law? Feeling helpless when other people are in conflict? Discouraged about our political division? Join Ruth Lee for a weekend retreat where you will develop or refine skills of listening at a deeper level to help move from conflict to healthy interaction. Pick up a flyer in the narthex. Gift Cards: $25, from Winco or Walmart. Money: to help purchase additional food & gift cards. Food: stuffing mix, potatoes, gravy packets, canned vegetables, evaporated milk, small peanut butter, cans of soup, pasta, canned fruit, etc Alison Weir Lecture & Presentation Friday, November 16, 6 9 PM Alison Weir, writer and activist, is the Executive Director of If Americans Knew, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing Americans with information of importance that is misreported or under reported in American media. The theme of her presentation will be Justice for All? What Don t Americans Know (and should know) about Israel-Palestine. Hosted by Community & Middle East Peace Builders. Light fare and drinks provided. All are welcome. AlkiTours: Space Needle, Chihuly Garden, Gates Foundation Wednesday, November 28 Cost is $119 per person, which includes admission to all three as well as lunch at Anthony s. 4 News & Announcements (cont ) Children & Family Ministries Footprints Sunday School Classes are underway, 9 AM. Check in downstairs. Please contact Jenny Vanderwerff (jbvanderwerff@gmail.com) if you can help in any of the classes. Children s Choirs & Youth Ringers Children s choirs rehearse at 10 AM following Footprints. Teachers will dismiss children to their choir rooms. Youth Ringer rehearsals 10:30-11 AM in room 202. Open to all, 3rd grade thru high school. Trunk or Treat Thank you! What a success! It was wet, but a fantastic evening. Thank you to all the Trunk hosts, as well as those who donated candy. We estimated about 150 children visiting 20 trunks in our parking lot! Thanksgiving Feeding Project Pick up a flyer in the narthex. Donations needed by November 11. We also need parents or families to go shopping for any remaining goods the weeks of November 5 & 12. Tonight we will get to know Pastor Hector and ask him questions about himself, faith, theology and other topics. ZOE (middle school, grades 7 & 8) Next meeting 11/5, 7-8:30 PM. Adult Education/Faith Formation Sundays Through Nov. 18, 9 AM: Jeff Tobin leading a series on How Lutheran Interpret the Bible This class features a weekly video segment followed by class discussion. Dr. Mark Allan Powell a Lutheran pastor and Bible professor at Trinity Lutheran Seminary is the video presenter. Topics will include: Where the Bible Comes From, Interpreting the Bible in Context, Determining Right From Wrong and The Many Meanings of the Bible. All are welcome. Wednesdays 9:30 AM: An ongoing study of the upcoming Sunday's readings with Pastor Hector and Jeff Tobin.
