JUDE - PARISH MISSION STATEMENT We the parish family of St. Jude, as members of the Body of Christ proclaim the Good News of Jesus in our worship, words and deeds. Out of love for God and neighbor, we dedicate our time, talents and treasures to the service of our faith community and to those who are in need SUNDAY OFFERINGS Cumulative Sunday offerings needed July 1 - Nov. 30: $137,984 Actual Cumulative Sunday offerings July 1 - Nov. 30, 2018: $114,136 Amount short of what is needed to cover ordinary exp. $23,856 Average weekly collection needed for operating expenses $6,272 Average Weekly Collection July 1 to Nov. 30, 2018: $5,188 Sunday, DECEMBER 9, 2018 $4,319 ($ through Online Giving) Last Year $4,121 Immaculate Conception, December 8, 2018 $1,350 Last Year $ OUR BLESSINGS ARE FROM GOD Many people tithe 5% to the local parish and 5% to other charitable needs like second collections. By our tithing we proclaim our faith that our blessings are from God, and, with confidence and joy, we give a portion of those blessings to support God s work in our church community. Our secure giving option is accessible through our church website: stjudech.org From the Pastor Gaudete (rejoice) Sunday marks the turning of the Season of Advent, we are getting close to the great celebrations of the Lord s coming. In this Sunday s Gospel St. John the Baptism has words about the coming Christ Now the people were filled with expectation, and all were asking in their hearts whether John might be the Messiah. John answered one mightier than I is coming. I am not worthy to loosen the thongs of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. (John2:14-14). We kindle in our hearts the joy of the coming of our Savior the coming of Christmas. The king is coming let us be prepared. I encourage all to make use of the Sacrament of Reconciliation before Christmas. A Penance Service at St. Jude Church will be held this Tuesday at 7:30 PM. Reflection: Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. (PHILIPPIANS 4:6) St. Paul reminds us that our God is an abundant God, the ultimate giver of gifts. He promises to give us all that we need. When we trust that God will take care of us, it is easier for us to share what we have been given.
