JUDE - PARISH MISSION STATEMENT We the parish family of St. Jude, as members of the Body of Christ proclaim the Good News of Jesus in our worship, words and deeds. Out of love for God and neighbor, we dedicate our time, talents and treasures to the service of our faith community and to those who are in need SUNDAY OFFERINGS Cumulative offerings last year: July 1 Oct : $94,888 Cumulative offerings July 1 - Oct 31, 2018: $91,624 Average weekly collection needed for operating expenses $5,272 Average Weekly Collection July 1 to Oct. 31, 2018: $5,090 Sunday, DECEMBER 2, 2018 ($ 1, through Online Giving) $ 7, Last Year $ 6, OUR BLESSINGS ARE FROM GOD Many people tithe 5% to the local parish and 5% to other charitable needs like second collections. By our tithing we proclaim our faith that our blessings are from God, and, with confidence and joy, we give a portion of those blessings to support God s work in our church community. Our secure giving option is accessible through our church website: stjudech.org Religious give thanks: Thank you for your generous support of $ 1, in last Sunday s collection for the Religious men and women in their retirement years. This money is pure gift, writes a religious sister of the support made possible by the Retirement Fund for Religious. It enables us to continue providing care for our elderly sisters. Your gift to last week s collection helps hundreds of religious communities meet pressing retirement needs while continuing to serve the People of God. Thank you for your generosity! From the Pastor As we continue our Advent Journey towards preparing ourselves for the great encounter of our Lord at Christmas let us make St. Paul s prayer in the second reading at Mass our own: God is my witness, how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus. And this is my prayer: that your love may increase ever more and more in knowledge and every kind of perception, to discern what is of value, so that you may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God. (Philippians 1:8-11).

3 Reflection: And this is my prayer: that your love may increase ever more and more in knowledge and every kind of perception, to discern what is of value (PHILIPPIANS 1:9-10) Glittery holiday ads can blind us to our stewardship values and distort our needs and wants. It is important that during this season of endless buying we remember that each of us also has the need to give back to God and to those that are in need.
