I have at times wandered from Your ways and Your truths, yet You welcome me home in love when I come with a repentant heart. I have at times been cool and aloof over against my fellow sinners, yet You counsel me with patience regarding true mercy. Let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins unto God, our Father, beseeching Him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness. Our help is in the name of the Lord. OUR LORD SPEAKS TO US Epistle Reading: Ephesians 2:1-10 (p. 1038, pew Bible) By nature we are dead in trespasses and sins. But God has saved us by grace through faith without any works on our part. We have been saved, however, in order to do good works prepared by God beforehand for us to do! Gospel Reading: Matthew 9:9-13 (p. 856, pew Bible) Jesus here calls Matthew, a tax-collector and therefore a social outcast, to be one of His disciples. The religious leaders of that day questioned Jesus association with such known sinners, but Jesus proclaimed that He had come to call such sinners to repentance. 3

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by Whom all things were made; Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. 7 Communing Members who have difficulty at the kneeling rail may sit in the front pew on either side. The pastors will bring communion to you there. Any communicants sitting in the balcony should please come down to the narthex for direction to the table. Communicants are ushered to the communion table. If you desire the bread in your hand, simply extend your hand to the Pastor as he approaches you with the bread. Those desiring an individual cup, please take a cup when the tray is offered. The common cup will immediately follow. Please dispose of your individual cup in the baskets located behind each pillar or in the center aisle. In the Hospital: IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH SPECIAL MEETING SUMMARY June 29, 2014 It was decided to begin starting new full-time teaching calls on July 1 st rather than August 1 st. This will begin with Phillip Matzke and Anita Meyer. A motion to tear-down the house at 218 Washington was tabled. The meeting was adjourned. To become a voting member you must be: (1) male communicant member of Immanuel for 6 months or longer; (2) 18 years old or older; (3) make your request known to the pastor or to the chairman of the congregation prior to the voters meeting in which he will present himself for voting membership. 10 THANK YOU from the Property Board to the volunteers who helped with the cement sidewalk! Christian Women s Seminar - The Southeast congregations of the CLC are organizing the first ever Southeastern Women s Retreat for women of the CLC. It will be held on October 3-5, 2014 in Savannah, Georgia. While hosted by the congregations of Southeastern CLC, all are invited to join us! We hope to have at least 30 women attend the retreat this opening year. The estimated cost for the retreat is between $150 - $340 for the weekend (depending on how many you share your room with) and includes food and lodging. More details are available in the separate Registration Form (available through your pastor). Ladies, consider taking some time this fall to attend the retreat in beautiful Savannah, Georgia where you will be encouraged and renewed in Christ. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED at Immanuel Lutheran College Our volunteer work day at Immanuel Lutheran College will be held Saturday, July 19. We will leave from the church at 6:30 a.m. and car-pool to Eau Claire returning Saturday evening about 9:00 p.m. Please pack a noon lunch and bring money for supper. Bring any needed tools, gloves, sunscreen, change of clothes, etc. Come enjoy a day of work, fun, and fellowship! Please sign up on the sheet in the narthex. CLC News: Pastor Paul Naumann, Ascension Lutheran, Tacoma WA, has returned the call to St. Paul Lutheran, Lakewood CO. <> Mrs. Peggy Kesterson has accepted the call to teach Kindergarten half days, beginning with the next school year, at St. Stephen Lutheran school, Mountain View CA. <> Pastor Matthew Gurath, Gift of God Lutheran, Mapleton ND, has resigned from the pastoral ministry for personal reasons. <> Pastor Caleb Schaller, Redemption Lutheran, Lynnwood WA, has returned the call to Berea Lutheran, Sioux Falls SD. <> Pastor Lawrence Bade, Trinity Lutheran, Millston WI, has announced his resignation for personal reasons, effective the end of July. The congregation has called Burgess Huehn to be their vacancy pastor. He is a retired WELS pastor who joined Messiah Lutheran, Eau Claire WI, this spring and has applied for a colloquy, which will be held this fall. 12 Women s Service Organization (WSO) Mid-Year Meeting: Division leaders and any interested members are asked to meet following the service next Sunday, July 13, to discuss issues and updates to the instruction sheets and anything related to the WSO. Topics will be the funeral process changes and anything else that is brought forward. Anyone is welcome. Summer Ensembles/Music for Worship: During the school year, we enjoy the blessing of having a choir present a musical selection nearly every week. The musical presentations of God s Word are a valued addition to our worship services. During the summer the choirs are not in session. However, if you would like to offer your musical talents to a worship service, please contact either pastor.
