Old Testament Reading: 2 Kings 2:9-14 Elijah did not die but rather was translated directly to heaven. He serves as a marvelous testimony to the fact that there is a heaven awaiting God s children. Jesus was transfigured before His disciples revealing His divine glory to them. God the Father announced that Jesus was indeed His Son to whom we all are to listen. Congregational Response (sung): Praise be to You, O Christ! Our Confession of Faith in the Apostolic Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. In the Hospital: Dear Members of Immanuel, For the past few weeks I have spent time in prayerful consideration of the call that I received to teach Kindergarten at Immanuel Lutheran School. I thank you all for your input and prayers during that time. Through my contemplation, the Spirit has moved me to accept the call to teach at Immanuel. I look forward to the opportunity to share God s Word openly in a Christian-based education. I ask for prayers moving forward that I may glorify God through this divine call. 8 Dear Members of Immanuel Lutheran Church: God has recently given us an opportunity to use our gifts and talents to serve Him overseas on the Church of the Lutheran Confession (CLC) Mission Helper trip to East Africa this summer. We will be working with the pastors of CLC sister church bodies in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Zambia to conduct child evangelism programs. If the Lord blesses our efforts, we, along with the other Mission Helpers will have a chance to bring the Gospel to many people. Some of these people will be members of our sister congregations, but many will have never heard of their Savior Jesus Christ nor of the saving message of His life, death, and resurrection. Each day, we plan to travel to a different village and present a series of Bible lessons that will teach both Law and Gospel. We will also do crafts and activities with the correlating lesson to reinforce the message. We are extremely excited for this opportunity to travel abroad to spread God s Word! This is a team effort that will include more than those who will be traveling overseas. The team will also include those who support this effort to carry out our Savior s great commission to make disciples of all nations (Mathew 28:16-20). With that being said, your help is needed. We ask that you would keep us and the other Mission Helpers in your prayers as we prepare to go on this journey that the Lord has called us to do. We also ask that you would pray for those who are already working to spread the Gospel overseas and for those souls that we reach during our journey. We would love to see new faces, so please invite others in your congregation to the Retreat. If you know of someone that does not have Internet access, please help them with the registration process or have them call one of the individuals listed below, and we can register them. Beth Kranz Chris Gerbitz We hope to see you in April! ECHO Food Shelf: The ECHO Food Shelf expresses their appreciation for the support of Immanuel members. In 2014 ECHO served, on average, 2,692 adults and seniors and 1,831 children per month. ECHO filled 16,042 food orders, distributing over 1.2 million pounds of food! A Mom s Group/Bible Study is re-starting on Saturday, February 28 at 9:00 a.m. Location TBD. Please contact Tina Eichstadt for more information. CLC NEWS: Melanie Sydow was offered the position of Food Service Manager at Immanuel Lutheran College and she has accepted the offer. Generation Change Next Sessions: February 21 Sessions 4-5 4:00 7:00 p.m. (supper provided) February 28 Session 6 3:00 4:30 p.m. Kids 4 KINSHIP support volunteer for March needed! The Immanuel PTO Committee on Volunteers is looking for someone to help each Friday in March with an effort by our students to support orphans around the world. It involves gathering and counting change donated from each classroom and posting the information on classroom doors on Fridays. For 9

10 more information, please contact Val Hammett, or CAL Basketball Tournament Our annual high school Christian Athletic League (CAL) Basketball Tournament is coming up March 5 th, 6 th, and 7 th. Information about the basketball tournament will be online soon. Volunteers Needed We are in need of volunteers to help monitor halls, work as gate cashiers, help clean up, and work in the concession stand (We do ask that all students 8th grade and under who wish to work in the concession stand sign up with a parent/guardian). Also, food donations of ground beef & turkey are appreciated. Sign up sheets for volunteers and donations will be available in the upper school hallway after church today, after church the next 2 Sundays, and in the school office during the week. Tournament Passes Tournament passes (wristbands) will be distributed to members of Immanuel congregation at no charge to show our appreciation for your support of our athletic program. Non-member volunteers will also receive passes. Free passes are for Immanuel members. Non-members who volunteer will also receive a free pass. Please do not ask for extra passes or give passes away. Passes must be picked up after church today, after church the next 2 Sundays, or by Wednesday, March 4 th from the school office. Spectators and volunteers must present a pass or pay the $7.00 admission fee. Children ages 12 and under receive free admission and do not need a pass. Parents of Athletes All High School parents are asked to bring a pan of uncut bars to be used to sell at the CAL Tourney. Please bring bars to the school kitchen on March 4 th or 5 th. 10
