God, I confess that many times I repeat my mistakes. I hate my failures and realize that I am not worthy to come into Your presence. But You, O God, are merciful! Lead me according to Your will. Let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins unto God, our Father, beseeching Him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness. Our help is in the name of the Lord. 4 OUR LORD SPEAKS TO US Epistle Reading: 1 Timothy 1:12-17 (ESV) We were formerly enemies of God like Paul. We had hatred and all sorts of evil thoughts against our God. But God is most merciful and amazing. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to save sinners. God worked through His Spirit in our hearts and gathered us from the evil world. Therefore, we are here to honor our God and to glorify Him. Congregational Praise (sung): Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Gospel Reading: John 5:1-14 (ESV) Congregational Welcome (sung): Glory be to You, O Lord! While Jesus was in Jerusalem He saw an invalid person at the Pool of Bethesda. Jesus healed him. Later Jesus found this same man in the temple. He commanded him to sin no more. Jesus has healed you and me, too, and He urges us to sin no more as well. Congregational Response (sung): Praise be to You, O Christ! Our Confession of Faith in the Apostolic Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. The Property Board was directed to carry out the demolition at the previous congregational meeting. They now have current bids. This project proposal is currently in the information-gathering phase. The ERC invites all to submit ideas for consideration as to what improvements/changes should be considered in this project. 9 Do you know what a reel to reel tape player is? Do you have one? The Immanuel Archivist, Brent Schreyer, has begun to look at things we are saving and how they are saved. We have some things on reel to reel audio tape and are wondering if there is a way to transfer them to digital discs so they are usable. We have a video cassette player that will allow us to change video cassettes but nothing for the old audio tapes. Please contact David Lueck or Brent Schreyer. Farewell to Raju Our vicar, Raju Bhitrakoti, will be leaving Mankato on September 24 th. Before he leaves, all are invited to join him for an evening meal at the Old Country Buffet on Tuesday, September 23 rd, 5:00 p.m. Topics for Prayer this Week As you take your prayers to God this week, the following are a few suggestions of additional prayer topics you may wish to include. For our Christian brothers and sisters who are going through spiritual hard times in their lives. For the renewal of faith in those who have backslid from the faith. For blessings to our Pastors and leaders who bring comfort and spiritual water to the spiritually dried souls. For new members of our churches that they may get strength to stand against temptations. For the missionaries and those who work in foreign lands to bring the Gospel to lost souls. For the leaders of the CLC who are meeting in Eau Claire to plan the work of our church body. 9
