This year, the goal for the Bishop s Appeal has been raised to $3.0 million. In the coming weeks you will hear more of the Appeal at Mass and through materials sent to you in the mail. For this purpose have I come. - Mark 1:35, 38 In today s Gospel reading we see a perfect example of stewardship. Jesus gives His time to do all that God wishes - healing the sick and preaching. But before He begins, Jesus makes time to be alone with God in prayer. It is through prayer, spending time with God, that we find the strength to do what He wishes us to do. Be sure to find time every day to be with God.

Lent is a time of reflection, sacrifice and prayer, when we re called to walk with Jesus and perform deliberate acts of goodness and holiness. Join us as a community of women, all preparing for the celebration of the miracle that is Easter! Sign in and refreshments start at 9:15 am in the Peace Room. We will hear from our retreat leader, Father Patrick Driscoll (St. Veronica Parish in South San Francisco), in several inspiring talks. Our day will also include Stations of the ross, opportunity for onfessions, quiet prayer time, and a chance to connect with like-minded women. Lunch and snacks will be included. We will conclude with the regular Sunday Liturgy Mass at 5:00 p.m. Interested? Please fill out the green registration form (available at both church entrances and the office) by FEBRUARY 5 th For questions, contact Pam Plant at (925) or , pamelaplant@yahoo.com Eucharistic Adoration Adoration will be held in the hurch because of electrical problems with the hapel heaters. We urge you to bring extra wraps and/or blankets to keep yourselves warm during your stay with the Lord. In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus selects some of his disciples by inviting them to ome, follow Me. Adoration is one of the greatest places to personally be with the Lord. It is an occasion where one can willingly set some minutes (or hours!) to be with our Lord, and talk with Him as if he was sitting right across from you, in skin and bones, about cares and concerns, and times for when one is grateful. It is also a time to ponder through a crisis or misunderstanding, and receive His Perspective. Additional people are needed at every hour! (Fridays 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.) Please come and sign in no telephone number or obligation is required.
6 Page 6 St. Monica hurch Dear ommunity of Saint Monica atholic hurch Thank you so much for your generous gift of $ for the year Your contribution directly supports the work of See the Lord to provide better vision for those in need, both here in alifornia and well as internationally. In 2017 we were able to serve over 1000 patients including children with special needs as well as the elderly. Over 600 prescription glasses were provided at no charge through 7 different mission trips both domestic and international. We thank you for the great gift of your donation, but more importantly we thank you for your prayers! Sincerely Dr. Kelly. ao, Director of linical Operations Notices and Events Dear Friends, Your gift this holiday season brings joy to many homeless and working poor San Franciscans just when they need it most: a hot meal, a warm winter coat, a safe, warm and dry place to sleep. Thank you for your gift of $ given on 11/14/17. The needs of our community are changing. Your support allows us to provide a lifeline to those who might otherwise fall through the cracks. We see your beauty and generosity of spirit shining in the face of each guest who s been able to transcend fear and embrace hope. Thank you for partnering with all of us in this work. Peace and All Good, Barry J. Stenger Executive Director Thank you for your wonderful food drive donation of 98 pounds of food on 1/18/18 from the members and friends of St. Monica atholic hurch! Your donation equates to 82 meals which will brighten many faces. We are very appreciative of your continued support of the Food Bank and those in need in our community! We hope you will continue to support the Food Bank and the new families that come to us for assistance. Together we are ending hunger! Sincerely, Joan Tomasini, Food Drive Administrator SOUP TO SERVE hildren s orner Next meeting: Friday, February 9 Please note: We will prepare soup every Friday until Easter week. You are invited to gather at the 9:00 Mass, first to be nourished with the Body and Blood of Jesus. THEN - and only then - are we truly able to give to the Body of hrist - the poor - what we have just received at Mass. This makes it one of the most unique ministries in the parish. All are welcome to attend! No prior experience necessary, just show up and be ready to help, share stories and laugh. If you have any questions contact Sonja rumbaugh at or scrumbaugh@comcast.net or Maura logher at or mclogher@comcast.net
