Summary The so-called Muslim leadership starts protesting whenever government talks about modernizing madarsa. A section of the community is in the grip of radical Muslims for centuries and it is their attempt to keep Muslims economically, socially and educationally backward. Unless there is modernization of madarsa across the country, crores of Muslims would not be in the mainstream of the country and doors of development and progress would remain shut for them. To get higher posts, it is important for Muslim boys and girls to have access to modern education so that they can compete with students of the other section. This is only possible when madarsas also teach modern education. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen announced to contest 2017 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh on all seats. The concern of Samajwadi Party is natural because it is Owaisi's party that is going to affect the vote bank. Ittehadul Muslimeen has opened its office in Lucknow and stared selection process of the candidate. Owaisi has already expanded his base in Maharashtra and Karnataka now his next target it Uttar Pradesh. As per a survey done by an American University, propagation of Islam is very fast in Britain. Number of supporters of Church of England is decreasing very fast while Muslims are growing very fast. The survey suggests that of the total people accepting Islam and 70 per cent of them are women. Researchers claimed that people are turning towards Islam because they are fed up of liquor and drugs. It is also disclosed in this survey that number of churches is also declining. Most of the churched are deserted while mosques are getting crowed by the day. India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

NATIONAL I Modernization of madarsa opposed Whenever modernization of madarsa is talked about, the so-called Muslim leaders start opposing it because they don't want Muslims to be educated and prosperous like other sections in the society. They want to keep Muslims backward, illiterate and poor. The Maharashtra government recently announced that madarsas imparting religious education and don't include Mathematics, English and Social Science, students of such schools would not be considered as school students. When the state government started surveying such students, a section of Muslims started protesting it. Sahafat on July 3 reported that such madarsa would be derecognized which don't teach English, Science and Mathematics and give only religious education. The state government will keep these schools in non-school category and students studying there will be out of school education. Funds to these schools will be released only when they follow the decided curriculum. Chief of Darul Uloom, Deoband Maulana Abdul Qasim Naumani said that he was against government controlled madarsas and did not want any assistance from the government to run them because this allows the government to interfere into the matters of madarsa. The recent decision taken by the Maharashtra government was against Islam. If modern education is taught there, they won't remain madarsa. This is a planned conspiracy against Islam and madarsa. He appealed to madarsa across the country not to take any government help else the government interference would start in madarsa. National president of Jamiat Ulama Arshad Madni said that this decision of the Bharatiya Janata Party was not surprising to anyone. The BJP was against Islam so it wanted to close down madarsas. There is no objection on teaching Mathematics, Science and English but interference of the government in it would not be tolerated. The government wanted to stop assistance to madarsas that were provided by the last government. This government somehow wanted to stop all such facilities that were being provided by the last Congress government. According to Samajwadi Party MP Maulana Munawwar Salim, the BJP government failed to fulfill promises that it made before coming to power so it was trying to destroy madarsas by taking anti- Muslim decisions. The decision taken by the Maharashtra government was condemnable. Constitution of the country allows Muslims to follow and propagate their religion that right the Modi government wanted to curtail. We will fight for the freedom of Islam and Madarsas, said Salim. According to former justice Mohammad Suhail Aizaz Siddiqui, the decision of the Maharashtra government was violation of constitution. According to Supreme Court, madarsas come under schools. Madarsa is an Arabic word which means school. Meaning of the madarsa cannot be changed India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

as per orders from a saffron government. Madarsas don't need any government assistance because there are many people to help madarsas. Muslims must throw such instructions into dustbin. National commissioner in minority languages Akhtarul Warse said that neglecting madarsa was not correct. No one can close madarsas and the government must revisit its decision. Roznama Rashtriya Sahara on July 3 criticizing the Maharashtra government decision in its editorial said that the government wanted to close Islamic madarsas therefore it kept students studying in madarsas out of school children category. The newspaper alleged that the government wanted to annihilate madarsa by doing this. This makes it clear that the government is working with some intention. It is wrong to finish madarsas that is testimony to the wrong intention against Islam. Muslims must unite to save their madarsas. Akhbar Mashriq on July 4 claimed that the Maharashtra government had been providing assistance to the tune of Rs 5 lakh to madarsa under its modernization programme. Last year 536 madarsas were benefitted by this scheme. The newspaper claimed that madarsas were spreading education in remote areas so hitting them was absolutely wrong. The newspaper expressed hope that looking at the reaction of Muslims, the government would change its anti-islamic policy. Hamara Samaj on July 4 called this decision as anti-islamic. The newspaper alleged that the government wanted Muslims children to hate their religion and society. They should be made to realize that they were becoming backward for opposing modern education. The newspaper alleged the Maharashtra government did deliberately not constitute Madarsa Board. The newspaper also complained that on one hand the government wanted them to bring Muslims in mainstream, on the other they denied 5 per cent reservation to Muslims provided by the UPA government. The newspaper said that the Maharashtra government was involved in several scams so it was doing all this to divert people's attention. Inquilab on July 4 declared in its editorial that the decision of the Maharashtra government was undemocratic. The newspaper called madarsas as fortresses of Islam which were not dependent on any help. Despite that communal people are targeting them by making some excuse which was undemocratic and unconstitutional. The newspaper also published statement of former minister Arif Nadeem Khan in which it was demanded that along with madarsa, students of Saraswati Shishu Mandir and Vaidik Vikas Mandir should also be called non school students. According to Congress general secretary Shakeel Ahmed, the decision of the government was divisive. He alleged that the government was targeting madarsas on instigation of the RSS. According to Janata Dal (U) leader Ali Anwar, the decision of the Maharashtra government was based on communalism. Imam of Fatehpuri Mosque Mufti Mukarram Ahmed termed it testimony of the anti Muslim policy of the government and alleged it to be murder of constitution and democracy. According to Sahafat (July 7), minister in Uttar Pradesh government Azam Khan said that this decision was testimony to the hatred against Islam and Arabic language and this decision was going to have adverse impact on relations with Arabic nations. India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

Urdu Times on July 4 criticized the decision in special editorial calling it a saffron conspiracy to drive Muslim youths away from Islam. The newspaper claimed that dream of the RSS and saffron family to keep Muslim youths away from Quran will not be fulfilled. One western intellectual once said that if you want to rule Muslims drive them away from Quran. When they would not read Quran they would not be able to lead a life of Muslim. The saffron government in Maharashtra was doing the same. This was part of the agenda of Hindutva forces. This is an open violation of fundamental right and constitution. Muslims must oppose it vehemently. Siyasat on July 5 claimed that had there not been religious madarsa in the country there would not have been Islam in India. So the BJP government is running campaign against madarsa. The Maharashtra government knows that it was not possible for madarsa to teach English, Science and Mathematics on their own expanses so they have made this excuse to finish madarsas. The agenda has been initiated from Maharashtra. If it is successful, it will be implemented across the country. This is an example of hatred of Sangh Pariwar for Muslims. According to Roznama Rashtriya Sahara (July 8), Uttar Pradesh Madarsa Board decided to include English and computer science as compulsory subjects. As per Inquilab (July 8), president of Bihar Madarsa Shiksha Board Prof Shamshad Hussain supported including science and English in madarsa curriculum. He said that women in big number were getting education. Background : There is no denying the fact that madarsas are inseparable part of the Islamic education system. As per Islamic history, during the lifetime of Hajrat Mohammad Saheb his follower Hajrat Zahid bin Akram had set up a madarsa at the place called Safa which was later shifted to the premises of Nabi mosque. Around 1100 years ago, madarsa education was started at Madarsa Nijamia. Curriculum of this madarsa has become the curriculum of all madarsas. This curriculum has got nothing to do with modern life and it does not teach modern subjects. It does not teach computers. The biggest Islamic university al Azhar which is situated in Cairo (Egypt) also gives degree like Imam, Mufti, Maulvi and Khatib et el. As far as India is concerned, there are no reliable records available about Islamic madarsa. However, they are spread in every nook and crany of the country. Generally they are governed from mosques and Imam teaches in it and their teachings are confined to Quran and Islam. Only a few of them are registered. The number of Islamic madarsas in the country is told to be around 7-8 lakh in which around 1.5 to 2 crore students take education. These madarsas are generally governed by the management committee of mosques that gives Imams some honorarium that is called Hadiya. Most of the time people opposing modernization of madarsa argue that their resources are very limited therefore it is difficult for them to employ trained teacher of modern subjects. The government is trying to modernize madarsa since During the tenure of P V Narsimha Rao his HRD minister Arjun Singh started modernization of madarsas and some budget allocation was also made. But no government was able to spend that money because the so-called Muslim leaders are not ready to take that money. They argue that it will pave the way for government interference into the matters of India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

Madarsa that they don't like. HRD minister in the last UPA government Kapil Sibal made an arrangement of Rs 350 crore for modernization of madarsa to teach modern subjects like English, Hindi, Mathamatics, Social Science and Computer Education. He sent a proposal to Central Madarsa Parishad but due to opposition from Muslim leaders it failed to see light of the day. In this years' budget, the Modi government made a budget allocation of Rs 100 crore for modernization of madarsa. Modi had said in one of his speeches that he wanted development of Muslims and he imagined Quran in one hand and computers in other for Muslims. But his attempt is opposed by a section of Muslim. Madarsas have always been in controversy. It was alleged that they taught terrorism and Jihad which have connection from foreign countries. Muslim leaders call it fortress of Islam. They say that expansion, propagation and their identity is essential. They also claim that madaras give education of Islam not of terrorism. But what answers do they have that all dreaded terrorists and their cadre belonging to terrorist organization like Lashkar e Toiba, United Jihad Council, SIMI, Jamat ud Dawa, Taliban, Huji, ISIS, al Ansar, al Jihad, al Barak and India Mujahiddin got education from these madarsas. The Pakistan government closed down over 7000 madarsas while Egyptian government closed down almost all madarsas. During the Mushraff regime, action taken by the Army at Lal mosque is known to all. Indian history is evident to the fact that Islamic madarsas have been part of jihad for long. In 17th century, chief of Madarsa Rahimia in Delhi Hajrat Waliullah invited ruler of Afghanistan Ahmed Shah Abdali to end rules of infidels. In the battle of Panipat jihadi students of Madarsa Azizia fought for the Abdali Army. In 19th century chief of Saharanpur (Gangoh) Madarsa Ahmad Ismail Barelwi had gone to Balakot to fight against the Army of Ranjit Singh and was defeated. It is said that Muslim madarsas are getting Rs crore foreign help every year on an average. It is a historical fact that 170 madarsas in Laddakh are managed by Iranian government. The Iran government pays the salary of teachers working in these madarsas. It is also alleged that madarsas are being built along the borders with the help of foreign fund where terrorists are taking shelter. Around 173 imam associated with Islamic madarsas have been arrested by the police for terrorist activities. As far as India is concerned, the biggest organization of Islamic education is Darul Uloom, Deoband which was set up by a Sunni Wahabi Maulana Kasim Nanotvi in But from the past one century it is captured by the Madani family. When Maulana al Najar Shah Kashmiri revolted against Madani family in 1982, the then PM Indira Gandhi threw his supporters out of madarsa by force. Supporters of Maulana Kashmiri still run a madarsa parallel in Deoband called Darul Uloom Deoband Waqf. As far as Darul Uloom, Deoband was concerned it has more than 5,000 students getting Islamic education there from around 110 countries. This institution provides them free education, books, cloths, food and accommodation. Interesting thing about this organization was that it never took any government assistance in the past. The organization has always been run by donations (jakat) provided by Muslims. Darul Uloom, Nadva is a madarsa of Sunnies in Lucknow which was set up in Around 3000 students can study there and it too provides free education, food, cloth and accommodation. Mazharul Islam madarsa of Saharanpur is also very famous. In the past couple of decades, an Islamic University was set up in Calicut with the help of foreign funds which has arrangement of providing education to 10 thousand girls and boys. In the past one decade hundreds of madarsas were set up in India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

Indo-Nepal border. There are hundreds of educational institutions in the country where higher education is provided to students of madarsas. They are related to different sects of Muslims. Recently West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee granted university status to Madarsa Alia. There are several institutions in Maharashtra and Gujarat at par to a university. Three international level universities have been set up in Jammu in which 5000 students can get education of Arabic and Islam. Chisti University was set up in Lucknow for education of Arabic and Persian language by the BSP government in Uttar Pradesh. There are four states in the country that have Madarsa Board to control madarsa education. These states included West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. The Uttar Pradesh government has recognized all the degrees provided by madarsas but they are eligible for the government jobs only as an Urdu teacher. They can get admitted in Aligarh Muslim University, Maulana Azad University and Jamia Milia Islamia University but door of other universities are shut for them. The problem is that whatever is taught in madarsa has nothing to do with modern education. This is the reason that these students are not eligible for government jobs and vacancies advertised by Union Public Service Commission. Subjects taught in madarsa are not part of the competitive exams. So students getting educations in madarsas are not eligible for government jobs. II Rashtriya Muslim Manch organizes Roza Iftar Hindustan Express on July 5 claimed that for the first time in the history of the country RSS organized Roza Iftar in Parliamentary Annexe. Several Muslim organization and Ambassador of 16 Arabic nation participated in this programme. Iftar was organized by Rashtriya Muslim Manch. Chief of the manch and RSS leader Indresh Kumar said that Islam is a religion of peace. It gave lesson to Muslims to respect other religions. If everyone followed this message of Quran, all could live a peaceful life. He said that by this programme Rashtriya Muslim Manch had not only given the message of peace and brotherhood in the country but it the world. He said, We respect our country that much as much we respect our mother. Wherever in the world any country is not respecting border of the other country, war is inevitable and riots is continuing. God has not given birth to spread hatred and riots rather for peace, love, goodwill and respecting each other. Ambassador of Egypt Hatim Tangeldeen welcomed Roza Iftar by Muslim Rashtriya Manch. He said that at present wrong image of Muslims is being projected and they were being associated with terrorism which is absolutely wrong. However, the truth is that Islam is a religion of peace and love. According to Hindustan Express (July 9, 2015), Hindu Mahasabha criticized organizing Iftar by the RSS. Hindu Mahasabha said that they would oppose it and if the RSS planned to organize convention of Muslim scholars in Lucknow, it would not allow it to happen. Executive president of Hindu Mahasabha Kamlesh Tiwari said, We are making Hindus aware while the RSS is having ties with India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

them. This will not be tolerated. Sadhvi Prachi said that Iftar might be the agenda of the RSS but she works for Hindus and continue working for them. According to Sahafat (July 9, 2015), the RSS is organizing Roza Iftar in Uttar Pradesh. Iftar parties were organized in view of a planned meeting of Islamic scholars in Lucknow. Invitation has been sent to Muslim leaders of Unnao, Kanpur, Barabanki and Hardoi and this organization will be for common people and no Muslim leader will be invited because they indulged in politics by statement in media. Rashtriya Muslim Manch has plans to organize Eid Milan in Uttar Pradesh beside Roza Iftar. It is also organizing a conference of Muslim scholars in which more than 1000 leaders will participate. This is to recall that Rashtriya Muslim Manch was set up in 2002 with the guidance of late RSS chief K S Sudarshan and its purpose was to make the RSS popular among Muslims. III Attempt to incite communalism in the name of mosques The cold war between All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Jamiat Ulama e Hind (Arshad Madani) over control of old mosques worth billions of rupees was also joined by Mehmood Madni nephew and political rival of Arshad. Madani constituted an eight-member team of Jamiat Ulama e Hind to look into the matter of historical mosques. The team included Maulana Haqimuddin Qasmi, Niyaz Farooqi, Maulana Giyoro Qasmi, Hazi Naushad Aadil, Hafiz Bashir Ahmed, Maulana Yaseen Qasmi, Maulana Harwan Rasheed and Maulana Omar Imam. This committee has started instigating Muslim community over old mosques and every week there is news about any such mosques in Urdu newspaper. Akhbar Mashriq on July 22 published a report on the front page under a campaign with the tag of reviving closed mosques by playing up this news report. The newspaper had the headline Campaign starts to revive closed mosques, Idol worship continuing in mosques, Namaj banned, mosques become residence, Mosques become bathroom, the world Allah written in circular form erased. According to the newspaper, this was started with the report on Mayfair Garden's Makhtoonshah Mosque. To instigate communal passion, this committee is indulged in false propaganda that in the mosque premises some idols were installed near a tree. The committee also claimed that this mosque was being used as residence. The committee also claimed that mosque was in dilapidated condition. The committee also said that attempts were made to erase Allah written on 18 rounded parapets outside mosque. The mosque is said to be of the Tughlaq Time and anyone can enter mosque without removing shoes. The committee claimed that when they tried to offer namaj there, they were not allowed by the security guard named Jagdish. Interesting thing is that this news report was published prominently by all Delhi newspapers. India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

According to Inquilab (May 31), team constituted by All India Muslim Personal Law Board to study about ancient mosques has not yet submitted its report. One of the members of this committee Dr Qasim Rasool Iliyas said that since it was being prepared by different members so it was taking long to prepare this report. Secretary of the board Abdul Rahim Qureishi said that board was verifying the fact that how many mosques were there under Archeological Survey of India in which namaj was not allowed. Jamiat Ulama e Hind (Arshad Madni) has already declared that they were ready to take control over these mosques whatever money was required to manage them. The newspaper claimed that there were 60 mosques in Delhi on which ASI has put locks and Muslims were not allowed to offer namaj there. The newspaper claimed that the number of such mosques in the country was in thousands. According to Inquilab (July 13, 2015), Mehmood Madni claimed that ASI allowed tourists to visit Kuwwat ul Islam mosque in Qutub Minar premises but Muslims were not allowed to enter the premises. The existence of mosque is in jeopardy due to negligence. Maulana Haqeemuddin Qasmi claimed that ancient mosque in Tughlaqabad was destroyed due to negligence. According to Sahafat (June 5), committee of Mehmood Madni visited Mosque in Qudasiabad area and claimed that mosque was built to offer namaj. If the government files case for offering namaj there, it was wrong. The newspaper claimed that deputy Imam of the mosque claimed that when attempt was made to offer namaj there, ASI filed cases against Muslims. The delegation claimed that a temple has been built in the mosque promises where puja was being performed. As per Imam, the mosque was built by Mughal Emperor Mohammad Shah's wife Kudasia Begum in Rojnama Rashtriya Sahara on June 5 published picture of the mosque along with the temple. According to Inquilab (June 30, 2015), a delegation of Jamiat Ulama visited Jamali Kamali mosque in Mehrauli area but security guard did not allow them to offer namaj. This mosque was built by Sheikh Fazal Ullah in Inquilab on June 10 reported that Jamiat Ulama e Hind committee claimed that people openly play gambling and drink liquor in the mosque situated left to Rajao ki Bawli. Secretary of Jamiat Ulama Maulana Haqimuddin Qasmi said attributing security guards Devendra and Deependra that people openly drink liquor inside the mosque but when delegation tried to offer namaj there they were stopped. There is a Bawli (well) inside the mosque which was built during Sikander Lodi's time. Sahafat on July 8 reported that a delegation of Jamiat Ulama e Hind entered into Bara Gumbat mosque in Lodhi garden area but security guard there stopped them offering namaj. This mosque was built in 1543 during Sher Shah Suri regime and cleanliness of this was told to be satisfactory by the delegation. There are five mehrabs in this mosque on which Quran is inscribed. According to the newspaper, there is a small mosque in Lodhi Garden which is in a worst condition and there is no arrangement for cleanliness. Security guard stopped delegation from offering namaj there. Background : Ever since property rates in cities spiraled, Muslim organizations started showing special love for ancient mosques and mausoleum. But their focus is on thousands of acres of land of India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

hundreds of mosques which has the market value in billions. This is the reason that both the factions of Jamiat Ulama e Hind along with All India Muslim Personal Law Board are trying to prove to be the sole custodians of these mosques. As per Archeological Survey of India Act if prayers were offered in these religious buildings at the time it was acquired only then prayer would be allowed. If the religious monument was remained barren in that case prayer would not be allowed. When V P Singh came to power in 1989, then Shahi Imam of Jama mosque of Delhi pressurized him to hand over all historical mosques under ASI control which was opposed by the ASI officials by saying that there was no such provision in the present law that allowed offering namaj or puja in ancient shrines. Still 35 such mosques were forcefully captured by the crowd and started offering namaj. They included mosque in Safdarjung Mausoleum, Neeli Mosque in Hauz Khas, Jama Masjid of Kotla Firoz Shah, mosque at Purana Qila and several mosques at Qutub Minar premises. ASI registered FIR against this illegal occupation but due to political influence, the government did not take any action against illegal occupants. Under pressure from Jamiat Ulama e Hind leder Hafizurahman, Humayun Kabir handed over Abdul Nabi mosque with 21 acres of land to it in 1960 when he was Education Minister in the Jawahar Lal Nehru cabinet. The present cost of this land is Rs 5,000 crore and this mosque is headquarter of Jamiat Ulama. This was opposed in Parliament and even in newspapers but no attention was paid to it due to political reasons. Two days before the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections, the central government announced handing over 135 invaluable waqf properties to Muslims. Vishwa Hindu Parishad opposed and the matter was still pending in the court. But the most interesting story was of historical Jama Mosque which comes under Delhi Waqf Board. All its expanses are born by waqf board but the family of Shahi Imam has control over this historical mosque. The newspaper has been talking all this while that Archeological Survey of India wanted to take control of it but the then PM Manmohan Singh interfered into the matter and ASI failed to take control of the mosque. IV Muslim family adopts Hindu children According to Sahafat (June 30, 2015), a Muslim pilot adopted two children of his Hindu friend. According to the high court judge, this is very rare when a family has been asked to adopt children of the family from the other religion. This is to recall that a pilot Praveen Dayal and his air hostess wife died in a road accident. They had two children Aayush and Prarthana. Their grandparents live abroad. They and their other relatives refused to support them. Pilot Association donated Rs 1 crore for the upbringing of these children. Father of these children Praveen Dayal and pilot Mohammad Shahnawaz Zahir were very close friends. Dayal India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

requested his friends to take care of his children before dying. People with whom these children were living were not taking care of them. These children requested Zahir on phone to take the responsibility of their upbringing but there was some legal hassle so the HC ruled Zaahir as their guardian. Zahir had two children of his own. Zaahir informed that he would take care of them as his own children and when they would complete 25 years of age their properties and Rs 1 crore would be handed over to them. Every Urdu newspaper published Zahir's picture with Aayush and Prarthana. Akhbar Mashriq on June 20 reported this story by calling it a great step. According to the newspaper, Zahir has a three-story house in Delhi in which his parents and parents-in-law live. Zahir said that he would not convert them to Muslims but bring them up as Hindus. There are several examples of adoption but adopting Hindu children by a Muslim is a first such incidence and a welcome move. V Grave space sold in Delhi Akhbar Mashriq complained on July 10 that due to increasing population of Muslims, they are not getting space to bury their dead. A big amount of money is being recovered from Muslims by managers of graveyard. The newspaper claimed that if anyone wanted to bury his relative they were being asked from Rs 35,000 to 70,000 for grave space. As per government records there are 416 graveyards in Delhi. Bodies are still buried only in 28 graveyards rest of them are illegally occupied by DDA, Delhi Municipal Corporation and land mafia. Several colonies, five start hotels and government building are built on these lands. Recently a graveyard was captured by the DDA and a park was built but due to opposition from Muslims they were forced to return it. Waqf board is taking legal action to get graveyards free from land mafia. According to the newspaper, out of 28 graveyards 6 are such where most of the bodies are buried. They included Delhi Gate graveyard, Hajrat Nijamuddin graveyard, Batla House graveyard, Mehrauli Graveyard, Welcome graveyard, Media Graveyard, Jharkhandi Graveyard and Jafrabad graveyard. Now, there is no place in these graveyards so people are facing hardship to bury people. Managing Committees are taking advantage of the situation which is selling space to bury bodies. This makes things difficult for common Muslim. So they are finding it difficult to bury their dead. India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

WORLD I Swift expansion of Islam in Britain Munsif on June 6 published a special write up in which it was claimed that number of Muslims in Britain is increasing very fast while number of Christians was decreasing. Mosques are getting crowded while churches are witnessing thin presence. New mosques are being built across Britain. As per a research Muslims in Britain are the fastest growing community. As per survey by British Social Unit, in the last two years the number of followers of Church of England decreased by 20 lakh while number of Muslims increased 10 lakh. Half of the British are non-believer. They were 1.28 crore in 1983 which rose to 2.47 crore in Followers of churches were 40 per cent in 1983 that had come down to 17 per cent in In 1983 Muslims were 0.6 per cent which has gone up to 5 per cent in The number of followers of Roman Catholic remained the same. New generation in Britain is going away from Islam. According to data provided by British government, number of Muslims in the country is increasing very fast. The number of Christians decreased by 11 between 2001 and 2011 as earlier their population was 30 lakh that has come down to 28 lakhs. In the meantime Muslim population increased by 80 per cent. Muslims were 51 lakh in 2001 and have gone up to 72 lakhs. Islam is the second biggest religion in Britain while Hindus are third biggest religion with 8.17 lakh. Sikhs are 4 lakh, Baudh 2.75 lakhs and Jews 2.5 lakhs. By 2010 Christians were 72 per cent and have come down to 59 per cent, Muslims were 3 per cent of the total population had gone up to 5 per cent. Muslim leaders are saying that these data are not reliable. The government is deliberately showing Muslims less and Muslims are at least 12 per cent of the total population of the country. There are several cities where Muslims are in a majority. Muslims are 40 per cent in East London. As per the government source, Islam is growing very fast and every year over 5000 people become Muslim in which 70 per cent are women. Around 2,5 lakh Christians converted to Islam in a decade of them 70 per cent are Africans. As per a survey by Swansi University, people in Britain are fed up with liquor and drugs therefore they are accepting Islam. Muslim organizations are spreading Islam in the country with full dedication and zeal. II 10 imams deported from France for spreading terrorism Roznama Rashtriya Sahara on July 1 reported that the French government expelled 10 Imams from the country for spreading hatred and terrorism. French External affairs minister Barnad Karzibo said that the government would continue war against terrorism and no soft stand would be taken against anyone. This is to recall that recently a Jihadi terrorist beheaded a person after that French government was alleged to be soft on terrorists. The French foreign minister said that 40 Imams had been expelled India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

from the country since 2012 for spreading terrorism. 20 matters are still under consideration. He said that around 100 mosques have been locked that have been spreading jihad. He said that such people who are using mosque for spreading hatred against other religions they would be prosecuted. He said that the person Yaseen Salani who killed a senior official of a gas company of the US, he was trained at ISIS training camps. This is to recall that there are 50 lakh Muslims in France and there are around 2500 registered mosque in the country. III Chinese restaurant attacked in Turkey Roznama Rashtriya Sahara (July 1) reported that some Turkish youths attacked a Chinese restaurant protesting atrocities committed against Muslims in China. Interesting thing is that this Chinese restaurant does not belong to any Chinese rather belongs to a Turkish Cha Jiyan Yagor. Some of his employees are definitely Chinese Muslims. According to local Dainik Hurriyat, the owner of the Chinese restaurant said that there were a few Chinese customers. It did not serve liquor still Islamic Jihadies attacked restaurant. The name of the Restaurant is Happy China. This is to recall Algore Muslims are being harassed by the Chinese government and this was published in Turkish media. After this Turkish government complained that why Chinese government is deliberately harassing Muslims in the country. Chinese foreign minister called it interference into the internal matters of China. According to the newspapers, the Chinese government banned keeping Roja, keeping beards and donning burkha to Muslim women. Around 200 Algore Muslims escaped China via Thailand to reach Turkey. Though they live in China but their ancestors were Turks and speak Turkish language. Turkey is being pressurized that they should be given Turkish citizenship. They should not be deported to China. IV Who is behind ISIS? Dawat on July 4 wrote special editorial claiming that structure of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria was built by enemy of Islam. Its chief Al Baghdadi was trained well in advance before giving him such responsibility. Youths of middle-east and the entire world thought that this was the real Islamic group that wanted to establish Caliphate therefore people started joining their Army. This fake Caliph has the support of riches of the Gulf countries. The US distributes arms and ammunitions purchased by these Gulf countries to soldiers of Islamic Caliphate to kill their Muslim brothers. They are destroying ancient remains of Islam. On the other side supporters of this so called Caliphate are telling the world that Islamic state has come. Islamic Caliphate is being established. Stop it else there will be disturbance India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

across the world. Life will become difficult, women will be enslaved. Shrines of non-muslims will be destroyed. Now, the same forces are celebrating anniversary of the ISIS. One such comment was published in Times of India on June 30 with the headline First anniversary of new Caliphate. Now, this terrorist wolf reaches Indian subcontinent. This organization has all the evils that can be done against humanity. From selling women to black-marketing of crude oil, it is doing everything but it is not known who is buying it. However, without the US and United Nations no one can sell even a drop of oil. Flag of this organization has the logo of Hajrat Mohammad Saheb. It is the same logo that was the seal of Hajrat Mohammad Saheb. It is also being claimed that ISIS was spreading its wings in Jammu and Kashmir. Jamate Islami claimed that in the name of Caliphate enemy of Islam get towers in New York attacked. Fake Osama bin Laden is killed in Abotabad and fake Caliphate is organized in middleeast. This is an attempt to prove that everything is true. They spread this that on June 28 attacks were made by Islamic group in Kuwait, Tunisia and France. They are capable of digesting false information. But what happened to Muslims that they too started believing that ISIS exists. There are two kinds of Muslims in this regard one that believes ISIS exists and working for Islam. The other group considers it bunch of misguided people and gives clarification for their misdeeds. However, both these are incorrect. This is a new game plan of the US and its associates. Their purpose is to capture natural resources across the world and not allow people to move towards Islamic ideology. Initially the government of India has been saying that there is no well wisher of ISIS but now suddenly agencies realized to take advantage of the propaganda and tell people that there are people in the country helping ISIS. There is nothing to say to emotional Muslims but those have reasonable thinking must understand what is going to happen. V Tunisia decides to close down 80 mosques Urdu Times on June 28 reported that after attack on two hotels by New Caliphate 30 mosques have been shut. In this attack 40 people were killed in an attack by suicide bomber Abbu al Takir Adani. He is soldier of Caliphate so he attacked enemy of Islam. Dead people include British, French and German. According to the government sources, before bombing terrorists indiscriminately fired from AK96. Tunisia is considered to be a secular nation in the Arabic world. This country is famous for its beautiful beaches. Prime Minister Habib Essid said that mosques have become den for Islamic jihadies therefore they must be closed. India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

Special report on West Asia I India criticized for not supporting Palestine in United Nations According to Munsif (July 5, 2015), in a major turnaround from its earlier foreign policy on Palestine, India refused to support a proposal against Israel in a meeting of Human Right Commission and remained indifferent during voting. This proposal was against Israeli attack on Ghaza in Proposal of the commission was supported by 41 members out of 47 and only the US opposed it. According to the newspaper, recently when Israeli defence minister Moshe Yaolone visited India. He spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and foreign minister Sushma Swaraj. It is said that under pressure from the Israel, India did not support the move and remained indifferent. Relations between India and Israel improved with Narendra Modi coming to power. Modi is expected to visit Israel soon. Munsif on July 7 criticized the Indian government in its editorial. The newspaper said that last year when Israel bombarded Ghaza it was opposed across the world. Israeli products were boycotted by some of the European countries while the Indian government kept silent. India had been the biggest supporter of Palestine so far. It was the only non-arabic nation that supported Palestine. But after Modi came to power, India sat in the lap of Israel. India is buying arms and ammunitions from Israel. There had been billions of dollars pact in the agriculture sector. India and Israel stuck $500 million missile deal and both the countries are engaged in providing intelligence information to each other. With the BJP coming to power the possibility is more that India will go with Israel leaving Arabs aside. Voting decision of India in United Nations confirmed the change in policy of India. Israeli media welcomed the decision of India and termed it a success story of Israel. Now, it is clear that India deviated from its policy of supporting suppressed and echoing the voice with supper power like America. The new policy of the government will have impact on Muslims. Narendra Modi must reconsider his new policy on Israel. Urdu Times on July 6 published a news report alleging that there was a major policy change by the Modi government and for the first time India did not vote for Palestine. This makes it clear that India joined hands with Israel leaving Arabs in lurch. The newspaper wrote in its editorial that India had changed its 66-year-old pro-palestine policy and openly supporting Israel. The newspaper wrote that in Human Right Conference in Switzerland, a sensor motion was passed against Israel but Indian representatives at United Nations remained in different instead of supporting it which in a sense was opposition to the move. The newspaper wrote that India had been opposing Israel but now Narendra Modi was in power so relation might have more tilted towards Israel. It was on instructions of the Modi India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

government that they did not participate in the voting. The proposal was related to a case in International court. India is not a member of this court. The newspaper criticized that spokesperson of the external affairs ministry Vikas Swaroop tried to misguide people by saying that there was no change in policy towards Palestine. Abstaining from voting is just a technical matter. The newspaper said that America voted against Palestine in Human Right Commission besides that three countries of European Union including Britain and Germany and China, Russia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Maldives voted in favor of it. But the country under the leadership of Sangh Pariwar remained absent and supported Kenya, Ethiopia, Prague and Macedonia. The newspaper said Kenya was such a nation where hatred against Muslims is increasing. The newspaper complained that the way Vande Mataram and Surya Namaskar were being made compulsory for Muslims in India, similar instructions for Muslims in Kenya to participate in Church activities. The newspaper said that friendship with Israel exposed the real face before people of the country. Siyasat on July 6 criticized in its editorial that Narendra Modi government changed its foreign policy after coming to power and joined hands with Israel leaving Arabs behind. However, India had been supporting Palestine all these years. India always supported people of Palestine. The claim of the government is wrong that there is no change in the policy of the country. This claim of the government is absolutely false rather this decision has exposed the face of Modi government. Everything is being done for the friendship of Israel. India wanted friendship with Israel at any cost. Diplomatic relations with both the countries were set up in 1992 but India did not make distance from Palestine and also did not shy away from voting against Israel. It is said that prime minister of Israel spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over phone for India not to support the resolution. India changed its policy on Palestine under pressure from Israel. India failed to understand that 41 countries voted against Israel. Atrocities committed by Israel in Ghaza were supported by India like this. Result of India's this policy would be losing friendship with Arabic nations and that would impact their trade relations. It appears that India is not bothered with its relations with Arabic nations. It is also clear that India has now become a nation that follows America and Israel. The decision of the government clearly indicates its anti-muslim policy. II Saudi Arab's biggest enemy Iran Dawat in its editorial on June 10 wrote that online newspaper in English, Arabic, French and Chinese languages The Times of Israel reported that more than half Saudi citizens consider Iran the biggest enemy than Israel. This was the result of the survey done by an American university. As per survey 53 per cent citizen consider Iran the bigger enemy than Israel while 22 per cent consider ISIS as the biggest enemy of Saudi Arabia. Only 18 per cent consider Israel the biggest enemy. The newspaper expresses India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

astonishment that Saudi Arabia and other countries are inching closure to Israel and adopting anti-iran policy. These Arabic nations are doing trade and business. The newspaper said friendship of Arabic nation with Israel was age old. According to Global research report, al Qaida, Saudi Arabia and Israel are very close to each other. An al Qaida leader Jakaria Mosavi told New York Times that whether Lebanon or Suria, Iraq or any other Sunni nation on all fronts Saudi Arabia and Israel are supporting Muslim Militia because their interest are associated with them. These countries wanted to diminish growing influence of Iran. They consider Iran a big threat. The same global research in another report called relation between Saudi Arabia and Israel as an unholy alliance. It said that Iran becoming nuclear power was neither liked by Israel nor Saudi Arabia. So they opened a joint front against it. Israel and Arabic nations are worried about the changing policy of the US towards Iran. At present war is continuing in countries like Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and other countries. In this war one can find supporters of Iran on the one side and supporters of Saudi Arabia and Israel on the other. According to a report of Gulf Blog (Arab World Relations with Israel, 24 August, 2009), there are 22 members in Arab League and it announced complete boycotting Israel in They decided not to buy any good from Israel. No business relation would be set up with any Israeli company. Any country of the Arab League found having any relations with Israel will be blacklisted. But offices boycotting Israel were closed in 2006 and all these were done under pressure from the US. In 1994 an office in Morocco was set up and after that business relations were set up between both the countries. Next year Jordon opened a trade mission in Israel and the same year Qatar also open a trade mission in Israel. Then Doha also answered by opening a trade mission. Saudi Arabia also ended boycotting Israeli goods. Tunisia also established indirect trade relations with Israel. On the other hand no one can deny Iran supporting Syria. Iran is increasing its influence on Bahrin, Yeman and other Gulf Countries. Supporters of Lebnon are also present and who does not know their differences with Turkey and Pakistan. Iran is openly supporting rebels in the war against Sunni nations. III 1.5 crore Muslims visit Kaba According to Urdu Times (July 8), during two weeks of Ranadan month 1.5 crore people from across the world visited Kaba. Around 6 lakh vehicle was used to transport people doing Umra. Around 73 lakh people reached Saudi Arabia through planes. Hindustan Express (July 5, 2015), expansion of the holiest place of Muslims is continuing and expected to be complete by After the completion of this project around 50 lakh Muslims would be able to offer Namaj in one go. Due to construction work continuing in Kaba, there has been a 20 per cent cut into the Haj pilgrims. Turkey rulers destroyed several historical buildings near Kaba so that Haj pilgrims did not have any problem in doing parikrama. Several hotels and residential spaces for hajies India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

are being built. A new project called Bab Abdulla has also been initiated which is related to former emperor of Saudi Arabia Late Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz. Entire Kaba is being made air-conditioned. But how much money is being spent by Saudi Arabia government on expansion of Kaba, there is a complete silence over it. Spokesperson of the Saudi Arabia government said that there was no dearth of money for this work. Munsif on June 20 reported that with the expansion of Kaba almost double pilgrims would be able to do parikrama of Kaba. Earlier around 53,000 hajies were able to do parikrama in an hour that has gone over to in an hour. According to director of this project Mohammad Samikari, parikrama path has been widened from 25 metres to 50 metres. Number of pillars on the parikrama path too has been reduced. Ground floor is also open and special provisions have been made to provide holy Aabe jam jam water so Hajies can take holy water twice in amount to their homes. IV 44 killed in a blast in a mosque in Nigeria Urdu Times on July 7 reported that blasts in Joj city of Nigeria killed around 44 people. These blasts took place in a mosque and a restaurant. According to the government sources, there are hands of Boko Haram in these matters. Recently this organization killed over 200 innocent people. In the past three years Boko Haram killed over 15,000 people. Islamic terrorism has reached Nicer, Chad and Cameroon after Nigeria. Over 10 thousand people have been killed by Islamic terrorists. V Egyptian Army killed 100 terrorists Munsif on July 3 reported that Egyptian army started retaliatory action against terrorist organization Islami Jamooria and killed more than 100 terrorist belonging to Ansar bin ul Muqaddas. A statement of Egyptian army claimed that attack in Sinai on terrorist camp more than hundred terrorists were killed and several of them arrested. Earlier terrorists attacked Egyptian army camp killing two dozens of army men. Three days ago an army officer Hisam Barkat was killed by terrorists in a bomb blast. The Egypt government recently amended terror laws so such terrorists who have been sentenced death must be hanged as soon as possible. India Policy Foundation July 16-31,

VI Around 30 killed in a blast in a Shia mosque in Kuwait Akhbar Masriq on June 27 reported that in a blast in a Shia mosque killed around 30 people. ISIS took the responsibility of blasts. According to the newspaper a suicide bomber entered the mosque and set him ablaze. This man had tied several bombs around his body. According to Sahafat (June 30), the person who attacked mosque in Kuwait was the citizen of Saudi Arabia and he had reached Kuwait recently. Daulat Islamia issued a video tape that said Shias would be killed wherever they would be. The terrorist reached Manama the capital of Bahrain via Saudi Arabia. According to the government official, there is ISIS network in Kuwait that made bombs available. The police was searching the two other accomplish of this suicide bomber. In another news report Jamate Ahle Hadish general secretary Maulana Asgar Ali Salfi criticizing the incident said that people with selfish intent were trying to divide Muslims. Jamate Islami chief Maulana Syed Jalajuddin Umri appealed Muslims of the country that don't get agitated with such incidents and must remain united. According to Sahafat (July 1), two Indians - Rizwan Hussain and Ibban Abbas -- were also killed in this blast. Hussain was a security guard and belonged to Saharanpur district while Abbas belonged to Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. They were buried in a graveyard in Nazzak in Iraq.
