Summary As per organizers, Deen Bachao, Desh Bachao (Save Religion, Save Country) rally in Patna was a big success. Observers linked this rally to the anti-bjp mahagathbandhan in the country. Maulana Wali Rahmani and Congress leaders had thrown their entire wait to make it a success. These leaders want Muslim and Dalit votes of West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and Jharkhand to the non-bjp mahagathbandhan. Strange thing is that this rally had blessings of Nitish Kumar. This was the reason that the comparer of the rally Khalid Anwar was declared Legislative Council candidate of Janata Dal (U) immediately after the rally. Chief of Imarat e Sharia and All India Muslim Personal Law Board general secretary Maulana Wali Rahmani called it the biggest rally in the history of Bihar and congratulated Dalits, Muslims and the Bihar government for its success. Now, the question is why the Bihar government sanctioned Rs 40 lakh for this rally. Observers guessed that Nitish Kumar realized the fact that Muslim voters are drifting away JD (U) due to its alliance with the BJP in the state. If Lalu Yadav is able to dent in this vote bank, next elections might turn out to be serious for him. Urdu newspapers and Muslim leaders criticized the Hyderabad court decision the way it released five accused of Mecca mosque blast case that included Swami Aseemanand. Some of the newspapers did not even refrain from targeting the Modi government while most of the newspapers targeted National Investigative Agency for not investigating the matter properly under political pressure so all the accused were released. In recent times investigative agencies took a beating whether it was the matter of Ajmer Dargah Case, Malegaon blast case or Mecca mosque blast case. This has made it clear that the Congress government had created the boggy of Hindu terrorism to defame Sangh Pariwar and Hindu organizations, the court decisions have demolished them. There is no denying the fact that investigative agencies forcefully got the statement from Swami Aseemanand and other accused which were unable to withstand court proceedings due to lack of evidence and witnesses. Visiting Hanuman temple had cost very dear to former leader of Samajwadi Party Bukkal Nawab and offering bell to the temple. Madarsa, Deoband issued a fatwa dismissing him from Islam and alleged him of breaking principals of Islam by visiting a temple because bowing before anyone except Allah is considered sin in Islam. Similar fatwa was issued against Salman Khurshid sometimes ago. Days are not good for the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif. Supreme Court of Pakistan was investigating the matter of income earned through corrupt practices and investing them in the foreign country. Supreme Court of Pakistan had sometimes back removed him from the post of Prime Minister. As per the recent decision, the Supreme Court barred him from taking any position in the country. Sharif alleged that this decision was taken under military pressure. Elections in Pakistan are scheduled after two months and future of Nawaz Sharif depends on these elections. 5 National I "Deen Bachao, Desh Bachao" What was the Hidden Agenda of this Rally? Recently the huge Deen Bachao, Desh Bachao rally organized by Muslims and Dalits in Bihar's capital Patna that had very serious indications and neglecting its background will be dangerous. Inquilab on April 16 published news related to Deen Bachao, Desh Bachao rally organized at Gandhi Maidan Patna with the headline Flood of people at Patna's Gandhi Maidan, Target of Dalit-Muslim unity announced, Emphasis on fighting for Manuwad, Muslim Ulama appealed to Muslims to unit forgetting all differences, the biggest rally of Muslims after independence, thousands of Dalits also participated. Former MP Obaidullah Khan Azmi said that to save the country unity of Muslims and Dalits and unity in support of every victim is very important. Shariat Mohammadi instructed us to support every victim. Muslims must join hands with victims against oppressors. This huge rally was organized by Imarat e Sharia and a clear message has been given to the government with this rally that they must refrain from interfering into the matter of Muslims. This rally was organized in the leadership of Maulana Wali Rahmani. This rally especially emphasized on Dalit and Muslim unity. He said that why cannot Muslims forget their sectarian differences to unite as Muslims? He appealed to Muslims not to be hopeless and have faith in their leadership. Whatever our problems are, their solutions will be sought within law and constitution. Obaidullah Khan said that mentioning All India Muslim Personal Law that when Islam was in danger our leaders decided to face it united. He said that those who killed Dalits are celebrating Ambedkar Jayanti therefore we need to remain cautious. Maulana Asgar Imam Mehandi appealed to Muslims on the occasion that they must get united forgetting their differences. President of BAMCEF Waman Meshram said that there was a need for Muslims and Dalits to get united against Brahmins capturing every sector in the country. DNA of Brahmins is exploitative therefore Muslims must not expect anything different from them. Meshram said that no Brahmin is killed in communal violence but Muslims and Scheduled Cast are killed. The conference was also addressed by Maulana Mehfoor and Umrain Mehfooj Rahmani. Roznama Rashtriya Sahara on April 16 published this news as the main news report with the headline Interference in Sharia law won't be tolerated, Lakhs of Muslims ruled in Deen Bachao, Desh Bachao conference in Patna, Ready to sacrifice everything to save religion and the country. According to the newspaper, chairman of the conference Maulana Rahmani said that some elements in India deliberately want to trouble minorities and Muslims are being troubled by interfering in Sharia law therefore there is a need to save Islam and country. When some communal forces came to power at the Centre, they demolished constitution and minority rights. Obaidullah Khan Azmi said that Narendra Modi came to power with Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas but after assuming power he started harming Dalits and Muslims. He created storm across the country in the name of triple talaq. When the Supreme Court announced triple talaq illegal a bill in India Policy Foundation May 1-15,

the Lok Sabha was passed in which provision of three years' imprisonment has been made for people uttering triple talaq in one go. This was direct interference into the religious matter which we will not be tolerated at any cost. We are ready to give biggest sacrifice to save country and Islam, he said. Sahafat on April 16 not only published this news report as the main news but also published it on the front page in four columns with the headline Imarat e Sharia organized Deen Bachao, Desh Bachao rally. Managers of the rally claimed that this is a non-political rally but this rally has broken records of all rallies organized in Patna. RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui said that rights given to minorities were being raided. They are being targeted. Maulana Masood Rahmani warned the Narendra Modi government that he will take rest only after changing it. Hamara Samaj on April 16 published as the main news with the headline Muslims must forget their differences to unite, Dalits, Muslims and exploited must get united, Announcement of 25 lakh people participated in the rally, Dalits completely with Muslims. According to Inquilab (April 19), a news controversy erupted with the ruling Janata Dal (U) electing Khalid Anwar as MLC. Chief of Imarat e Sharia Wali Rahmani made it clear that giving MLC ticket to this person has got nothing to do with this rally. He said that after the completion of this rally the person comparing this programme Khalid Anwar was given MLC ticket by Nitish Kumar. Maulana Rahmani claimed that it has got nothing to do with the rally. According to Sahafat (April 27), around 3500 workers have been given certificate for good work for making Deen Bachao, Desh Bachao rally a success. Chief of Imarat e Sharia Mohammad Ibli al Qasmi said that volunteers work was commendable. They have made a difficult job successful. Comment : Indications of Deen Bachao, Desh Bachao rally organized in Patna are very serious. Now, no one can deny from the fact that this Dalit and Muslim rally was supported by the Bihar government and Nitish Kumar. Perhaps this is the first time in the history that the Bihar government sanctioned Rs 40 lakh to organize a rally from its coffer. Some people are saying that the money was sanctioned to manage the rally. However, the question is that the government had nothing to do with the rally still why it made fund available. Strange thing is that Susheel Kumar Modi is the finance minister of the state. Is sanctioning of Rs 40 lakh for the rally is in his knowledge. This is such a difficult question that needs to be answered. If we look at the organizers of this rally, we would find dangerous faces of Muslim leaders. They included Imarat e Sharia chief and Sajjadanaseen of Dargah Rahmania placed in Munger Maulana Wali Ahmed Rahmani who is a Congressman. He was member of the Bihar Legislative Council for several years on Congress ticket and he was deputy chairman of Bihar Legislative Council. He is general secretary of one of the most popular organizations of Muslims All India Muslim Personal Law Board. Ever since the Narendra Modi government has taken over, he is running a campaign of Deen Bachao, Desh Bachao. Muslim organizations are trying to make a front of Muslims and Dalits. All India Muslim Personal Law Board is not hesitating to take the help of imam of around 10 lakh mosques spreading across the country. Imams of these mosques have been instructed to awaken Muslims against Modi government in the speeches after namaj. Khalid Anwar too is a India Policy Foundation May 1-15,

Congressman. He was once general secretary of Nationalist Congress Party but these days he is with the Janata Dal (U) of Nitish Kumar. He was awarded with Legislative Council seat for the success of this rally. It is obvious that there are hands of Nitish Kumar behind this game. As per information Maulana Wali Rahmani has been trying to make a forum on non-bjp political parties. It is also being discussed and Nitish Kumar has been promised that he would be Prime Ministerial candidate if this formation succeeds. Political observers are of the view that Nitish Kumar has started realizing that his Muslim vote bank has gone due to his alliance with the BJP. Therefore he is trying whole heartedly to woo Muslim vote bank to his fold. It is said that there are 100 Assembly seats in Bihar Assembly where Muslims hold the key. II Sankratyayan Distanced Himself from Communist Party on the Issue of Hindi According to Akhbar Mashriq (April 9), famous literature Rahul Sankrityayan was thrown out of Communist Party because he was not ready to give Hindustani status of national language in place of Hindi. In a conference of Indian Progressive Writers' Union in 1948 in Mumbai, communist parties objected some parts of his presidential speech but Rahul Sankratyayan refused to delete any part of his speech so he was expelled from the communist party. Atul Kumar Anjan said in an interview on the occasion of anniversary of Rahul Sankratyayan said that he was an important freedom fighter in the India's struggle to independence. He was a big literature of Hindi literature and was jailed for times in connection with freedom struggle. He knew 32 languages and wrote 140 books. There was no such scholar in the last millennium. He brought books loads of 22 mules from Tibet and these invaluable treaties were given to an institute in Patna. But in the controversy between Hindi and Hindustani, he was staunch supporter of Hindi and wanted to give Hindi a rightful place. But Communist Party leaders were opposed to him on question of Hindi. As the president of Progressive Writers Union, Rahul Sankratyayan emphasized making Hindi the national language which was not liked by the Communist Party leaders. They put pressure on him to delete those portion from his speech in which he supported making Hindi National language. But he refused to accept decisions of high command and his dispute with Communist Party leadership continued. Ultimately he was expelled from the party in The biographer of Rahul Sankratyayan Gunakar Mule said that Rahul Sankratyayan was supporter of Hindi in Hindi-Urdu dispute. Mule writes that Pt Nehru wanted him to appoint vice chancellor of any university but the then education minister Humayun Kabir said that Rahul Sankratyayan did not have any degree, he is secondary pass therefore he cannot be appointed as Professor or vice chancellor of any university. Later on he worked as professor in different universities of Sri Lanka and Russia. Mule said that Rahul Sankratyayan joined the Congress at Chapra Congress Convention in Bihar but later on he joined Communist Party. India Policy Foundation May 1-15,

III Government Determined to Finish Identity of Muslims: Owaisi According to Etemaad (April 14), president of All India Ittehadul Muslimeen Asaduddin Owaisi said that the present government wanted to finish strength and glory of Muslims identity. Narendra Modi wants to finish Sharia therefore the need of the hour is that Muslims must get united. If there is no Shariat, there won't be Islam or Muslim. He claimed that the government was not interested in welfare of women, Dalits and Muslims. This is a government of rich people and expecting anything from it useless. So to change the future of the country it is important that both the oppressed communities Dalits and Muslims must get united because both the communities have same issues. Asaduddin Owaisi was addressing in a rally at Umerkheda town on saving Shariat. He said whether it is Muslim or Dalit youths, they are not given scholarship. There was a need of Rs 8,000 crore to provide scholarship to every Dalit child but the Modi government provided just Rs 3,000 crore however Modi keeps on repeating the name of Ambedkar. He said that Ambedkar gave three slogans to Dalits; first get educated, second get organized and third fight for the right. But the Modi government is deliberately trying to keep Dalits away from education. He told Muslims to take Dalits at every cost that must be started at social level. He alleged that the government was planning to dilute Scheduled Cast and Scheduled Tribe Atrocities Act so Dalits must protest against it. He alleged that in the guise of triple talaq, the government wants to finish Sharia and Islam. He criticized the rape incidence in Jammu and Kashmir and said supporters of rape accused were linked with the BJP. He said that the person who had called for Jammu band against the arrest of rapist was election agent of Ghulam Nabi Azad. Will Congress expel him from the party? He said that the Centre does a drama of having sympathy with Muslim girls and women. He said that Modi and Yogi Adityanath are weakening foundation of the country. IV Bukkal Nawab Expelled from Islam for Visiting Temple Visiting Hanuman temple cost very dear to Bukkal Nawab who had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party after leaving Samajwadi Party. According to Urdu Newspaper Aag (April 18), Bukkal Nawab said while offering bell to Hanuman temple that even his ancestors were worshipping Lord Hanuman. Shia Muslim leader Bukkal Nawab reached the Hanuman temple at Hajratganj and folded his hand before Lord Hanuman and handed over brass bell to the priest. Priest applied tilak over his forehead. This picture was published on several newspapers. India Policy Foundation May 1-15,

According to the newspaper Awadhnama (April 20), Darul Uloom Deoband issued a fatwa rejecting Bukkal Nawab from Islam therefore he has been rejected from Islam. Maulana Salim Ashraf Qasmi of Madarsa Darul Uloom Ashrafia said that Bukkal Nawab has been rejected from Islam because of idol worship and by visiting a temple. He said that as per Islam no Muslim can worship any God and Goddess except Allah and if anyone does that he becomes a Kafir (faithless). Maulana Qasmi said that Bukkal Nawab must do penance for his action and must apologize to come back to Islam. He must have to read Kalma Sharif to come back to Islam. This is to recall that earlier also Bukkal Nawab supported construction of Ram Temple before joining the BJP and offered Rs 10 lakh's jeweler to Lord Ram. Commenting on this fatwa Bukkal Nawab said that I am a Ram Bhakt along with being a Muslim and Lord Hanuman is our ancestor. As per Indian constitution, I have the right to perform any religious rite. This is to recall that one more such fatwa was issued against minister in the Yogi government Mohsin Raza because he participated in a pooja at a Hanuman Temple. Earlier according to Hindustan Express (October 30, 2017), a picture of Salman Khurshid has gone viral on social media in which he was shown performing Aarti of Lord Ram at Kalki Mahotsav. Mufti of Deoband Tarek Qasmi said that activity of Salman Khurshid was against Islam and if does not apologies and accepts Islam once again he will be rejected from Islam. He said that as per Islam no one could be worshipped except Allah and if someone does that he is not a Muslim but a Kafir (faithless). Religious scholars of Darul Uloom Deoband also supported rejecting Salman Khurshid from Islam and they demanded that he must apologize and reread Kalama. He must apologize for his action. According to Inquilab (October 23, 2017), Naznin Ansari of Muslim Rashtriya Manch was rejected from Islam by Darul Uloom Deoband for doing Arti of Lord Ram. Mufti of Varansi Maulana Abdul Naumani said that in the name of national unity doing aarti of anyone is against Islam and ulama of Deoband issued fatwa to reject her from Islam. Men or women, no one has the right to worship anyone except Allah while manager of Madarsa Habibia al Sunnat Ramjan Ahmed Qureishi said that the person who does not believe Sharia thrusting Sharia on him by issuing fatwa is not right. Naznin Ansari openly opposed Sharia by performing Aarti therefore she must be rejected from Islam. Najnin Ansari said that she would go to court against this fatwa. According to Inquilab (October 22, 2017), Darul Uloom Deoband instructed Muslims through a fatwa that they must not post picture of Muslim women on social media. The newspaper alleged that this campaign was being unleashed to defame Muslims. Muslims are deliberately misguided because Muslims know this for sure that fatwa from Deoband would not be accepted by Barelwi, Sufi, Ahle Hadith, Shia and Bohra Muslims. Still the matter is being racked up sighting it to be issue of every Muslim. The same newspaper claimed in another news report that anti-muslim people are deliberately highlighting fatwa issued by religious madarsa to defame Muslims. Their only target is to keep Muslims away from Islam. Inquilab in its editorial on October 23, 2017 said that in the name of fatwa unrest is being caused. It is said in the editorial that implementation of Sharia law, decision as per Sharia law and decision of Mufti are called fatwa. Mufti and Islamic scholars have been solving problem from centuries India Policy Foundation May 1-15,

however there had been several such fatwas that have been issued to keep the government of the day happy. But these fatwa were rejected by Millat Islamia. This is true that fatwa and counter fatwa have been in practice for centuries. Every Muslim knows that maulvi of different sect issued different fatwa on the same issue. Social media is full of discussion on fatwa but when allegation and counter allegation started on fatwa then it appeared as a game plan to defame Islam and news channels are leading this game, which are doing it to get more viewership. Different news channels started a new game plan under this conspiracy that they contact different Islamic organizations with the help of their representative and ask for fatwa on specific issue that might cause controversy. The moment fatwa is received they start raking up the matter on their channels. In the discussion on television such people are invited who are unable to make things understand. If any scholar is invited he is humiliated. According to Munsif (October 20, 2017), Darul Uloom Deoband issued a fatwa in which Muslims were instructed not to upload any picture on social media because this is against Islam. It is said in the fatwa that whether men or women, they should not upload their picture on Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media sites as they are against Islam. Mufti Tarek Qasmi said that there is a prohibition of clicking pictures in Islam without any need. In such a situation anyone who gets picture clicked they break norms of Islam. There is a need to avoid this. V Ruling on Mecca Mosque Bomb Blast and Urdu Newspaper Sahafat in its editorial on April 18 gave headline Then who is responsible. All the accused of Mecca mosque blast case that had happened during the Friday prayer in Hyderabad have been acquitted but the question who is responsible for it. There are lots of issues with our investigation system as lots of people get away by bribing. What is the remedy for it? Governments have their vested interests therefore this cannot be expected from them that they would arrange transparent investigation. There is no chance to get arrest accused on the run. Without going into the fact that there were saffron terrorists responsible for it but one thing is clear that those who had hurled bomb in Mecca mosque belonged to such a group who wanted to cause maximum damage to Muslims. This really gives very bad feeling that such a big incidence happened but no one was held responsible and police failed to make anyone guilty of it. Mohammad Umar whose brotherin-law got killed in the blast was very sad on the decision. Syed Imran was arrested after this blast but he was released after one and half years. The question is that who is responsible for these blasts? The police and CBI failed in this matter. Syed Imran said that Swami Aseemanand confessed that there was his involvement in this blast but later on he refused. What is this happening? All the victims are angry with the decision of accused getting released. They feel that this matter must be reinvestigated so people are arrested. The question is why do courts take so much time to give judgment. There is a need to look for the people who had conspired. India Policy Foundation May 1-15,

Sahafat in its editorial on April 24 criticised acquittal of Swami Asseemanand by the court and said that the court got copy of the judgment that will be sent to Delhi. The newspaper wrote that on March 8, 2017 a Jaipur court acquitted Asseemanand and six others in the Mecca mosque blast case while three were sentenced. NIA has not appealed against it. The newspaper alleged that public prosecutor was appointed for his proximity with a political party. Hearing in the case of Samjhauta bomb blast case is still continuing against him. He was given bail in August 2015 by the high court in this case. His lawyer claimed that he would be acquitted in the Samjhauta Express case also. According to Siyasat (April 20), a delegation led by chief of All India Ittehadul Musalmin Asaduddin Owaisi met with governor of Andhra Pradesh in which reinvestigation of Mecca mosque blast was demanded and this must be under the supervision of high level committee which should be appointed by the High Court and it must keep a watch on it. Some journalists must be included in this committee. The delegation alleged that due to political pressure NIA did not investigate the matter properly and tried to save accused. Muslim organisation Popular Front of India criticized acquittal of accused of Mecca mosque blast case and accused that NIA is working as a political weapon for the BJP government. The Front said that such decisions would encourage Hindu terrorists and country week. Muslim youths are falsely implicated and they have to live in jail for years. NIA is working as the organisation of the BJP and Sangh. This is the reason that courts giving bail has not been appealed. It appears that NIA is deliberately trying to save Hindu accused. The court must investigate that under whose pressure the judge resigned after the verdict. According to Inquilab (April 18), the way Hyderabad court acquitted accused of Mecca mosque blasts, the Bharatiya Janata Party spokespersons are accusing the Congress by saying that the court gave a befitting reply to the Congress game plan of defaming Hindus in the name of Hindu terrorism. The truth is that none hesitate to link terrorism in the name of religion and caste. Were Sikhs not linked with terrorism? Were Tamils not linked with LTTE? Were Naxals not linked with Left? If saffron-clad people were linked with saffron terrorism, what does the Sangh has problem with it? Wasn't the Sangh having problem with the fact that their utterances proved wrong that not every Muslim is a terrorist but every terrorist is a Muslim. Now the RSS people must have realized that linking any religion with terrorism is how painful for people believing in that faith. There is one important thing to mention here that terror accused try to link their action with religion therefore they shout slogan before killing. This has not started in Hindu religion as well. There are lots of terrorists in Hindu religion who wants to serve religion by spilling blood. India Policy Foundation May 1-15,

WESTERN ASIA I US Attacks on Syria According to Inquilab (April 15), the US, France and Britain jointly attacked Syria that the Syrian government confirmed. Several bomb explosions were heard in Damisk and smoke was coming out. US President Donald Trump said that US' Army action was continuing in Syria and selected places are being targeted. He said that this attack was in response to the chemical attacks. US President warmed Iran and Russia for having relations with Syria. He said that fate of Bashar al Assad is with Syria. Prime Minister of Britain Theresa May gave free hand to British Army to attack Syria. She said that there was no other option except attacking Syria. Our objective was to destroy chemical capability. US Defence Minister told reporters that citizens won't be targeted in this attack and only such places would be targeted where chemical weapons are stored. US warplanes targeted Syria's Scientific Research Centre. Syrian Army attacked twice by chemical weapons and used fifty chemical weapons. The Syrian government said that the US and Europe were thrusting the world towards war. Russia did not give its reaction on these attacks. President of Syria Bashar al Asad said that the US and its allies are attacking Syria by missile breaking all international norms. According to Sahafat (April 15), Russia said that people attacking Syria will have to face consequences. Criticizing the incidence, Iran said that attack on Syria was a crime and for that the US and its allies are completely responsible. Roznama Rashtriya Sahara in its editorial on April 15 criticized this attack. The newspaper wrote that when the US attacked Iraq same claims of Iraq having chemical weapons were made during that time also. The attacks will continue till chemical weapons are destroyed but no chemical weapons were recovered and Saddam Hussain has been hanged and all oil wells have been occupied. Similarly there is some other reason for attack on Syria. The newspaper expressed happiness over the fact that due to attack on Syria dissenting voices have started coming out by the day. Republic Party called it unconstitutional and US people took to street protesting these attacks. Russia has already warned the US that if it attacks Syria again that would be the first step towards Third World War. Etemaad in its editorial on April 10 criticized Syria for attack by poisonous gas. The newspaper also wrote that the way US was targeting people of Syria danger of Third World War looming large. The newspaper appealed to the United Nations to immediately interfere into the matter of Syria so innocent people are saved from getting killed. Russia also needs to be look for some solution to the problem. The newspaper also criticised that Muslim nations are very insensitive and they are not doing to stop these killings. If Arabic nations put pressure on the United Nations united, there is a possibility of ceasefire there and killing of innocent could be stopped. But it is very sad that no one is interested in stopping these killings. India Policy Foundation May 1-15,

II Missiles Targeting Saudi Arabia According to Siyasat (April 12), the attack on Riyad the Saudi Arabian capital by Habbasi rebels of Yemen was foiled by Saudi air defence forces. According to AFP, several blasts were heard in Riyad. Earlier also Habbasi rebels targeted Saudi Arabia several times. According to the spokesperson of Saudi Arabia, these missiles were fired from a city of South Yemen but they were foiled by Saudi security system. Besides that Saudi Arabia destroyed two pilotless planes one of them was sent to hit airport. Habbasi rebels claimed that their attack was successful. III Mausoleum of Saddam Husain Destroyed According to Sahafat (April 18), graveyard of Saddam Husain has been destroyed in the bomb blast in Iraqi city Tikrit. Former President of Iraq Saddam Husain was hanged in December 2006 and body of Husain was sent to Tikrit on instructions of the then US President George Bush where a mausoleum was built for him by Sheikh Armada chief of the tribe Abu Nasir of which Saddam Husain belonged at his ancestral place al Awazaha. Several people used to come to his his graveyard to pay homage to him. Chief of the tribe Sheikh Manaf confirmed this that after the bombardment graveyard was destroyed and body was also missing. Some people claimed that daughter of Saddam came there with her personal plane t take her body to Jordan. But tribes of Saddam said that his daughter had never come to Iraq. IV Skirmishes on the Pakistan and Iran border According to Roznama Rashtriya Sahara (April 18), bodies of two Pakistani citizens have been handed over to officials of Pakistan at Gwader border of Iran and Pakistan. According to Pakistani officials, these two people were killed by border security officials. Besides that five other Pakistanis trying to infiltrate into Iran were handed over to Pakistan. Iranian officials claimed that these seven people tried to join Iranian Army illegally so Iranian Army personal opened fire on them. The name of the killed Pakistanis were said to be Sahjeb Khan and Sazid who belonged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Three of them belonged to Bannu area while one of them belonged to Jhunjhala area of Punjab and one of them belonged to Pak Occupied Kashmir. They have been handed over to officials and it could not be ascertained that why were they going to Iran. India Policy Foundation May 1-15,

V Daughter of Ruler of Dubai Missing According to Inquilab (April 18), former spy Hurby Robert alleged that ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammad's daughter Sheikha Latifa bin Mohammad al-maktoum who tried to flee from Dubai she was apprehended by commando of the government but she is missing ever since. As per a friend of Sheikha Latifa bin Mohammad al-maktoum when this princes was trying to flee she was apprehended by commandos and she was brought out of the boat and beaten up. It is said that this girl was against social traditions of Arabic society and wanted to live a free life. She alleged that when she tried to flee last time she was imprisoned forcefully. This is to recall that father of this girl Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Maktoum is not only ruler of Dubai but also vice president of United Arab Emirate and he has several wives and over a dozen children. Sheikh Mohammad has broken his relations with his daughter when she tried to flee from Dubai. Local media is neither publishing any news report about missing princes nor telecasting any news. Western media published several news reports about these missing princes. VI Saudi Arabia Government in the Line of Fire of Imam of Kaba According to Chauthi Duniya (April 23), the Saudi Arabia government is now in the line of fire of Kaba Imam. He alleged that in the name of liberalism crown prince is imposing western civilization on Saudi Arabia. Imam of Kaba alleged that policies of the present government are against Islam. He said that crown prince Mohammad bin Salman allowing women to participate in politics and opening cinema halls that is against Islam. The Saudi Arab government closed twitter account of this Muslim scholar and there is a possibility of his arrest very soon. Clash between Islamic scholars and Royal family started way back in April 2015 when Saudi Arabia was involved in military intervention in Yemen. Condition of Yemen has not improved even after two and half year passed rather things had gone from bad to worst. After Donald Trump becoming the US President, crown prince rather encouraged. He said in an interview recently he openly supported Israel and due to this serious differences appeared among Arabic nations. Crown Prince said that radical Islam cannot be tolerated in Saudi Arabia. We too will have to change our outlook like any other country in the world and would have to solve problems of our youths. Crown Prince said that come what may but terrorism will be eradicated. Recently the crown prince cut expanses on member of the ruling family. It is said that there is a hand the US behind the aggressive posturing of Saudi Arabia against Iran. Saudi Arab interfered into the internal matter of Lebanon on instigation of the US. This was the reason that when Prime Minister of Lebanon came to Saudi Arabia he offered to resigned but when he returned Lebanon he withdrew his resignation. Tension between religious scholars of Saudi Arabia and ruling class was increasing More than 200 Islamic scholars are in jail. It is also said that in the name of corruption eradication all his enemies were killed. He wants a total control over Saudi Arabia. India Policy Foundation May 1-15,

WORLD I Nawaz Sharif Debarred from Taking Any Post According to Etemaad (April 14), Supreme Court of Pakistan declared former Prime Minister of Pakistan for adorning any post in his lifetime. Pakistan will undergo elections this year while Nawaz Sharif has been debarred from participating in politics for collecting money from unknown sources. Family of the Nawaz Sharif said that this decision of the court was vengeful and interfering into the internal politics of Pakistan. The Army denied all these allegations. Information minister Marium Aurangzeb told reporters that opponents of Nawaz Sharif conspired to finish him politically. Nawaz Sharif is facing cases of disproportionate assests in the court. Siyasat on April 15 published a write up by Imtiyaz Marteen in which future of Nawaz Sharif was discussed. It is written in the write up that opinion about the common people on ban imposed by the Supreme Court is that Sharif fell into the same pit that he dug for others. His party Muslim league is claiming that he would go to the people's court and Nawaz Sharif will remain the leader. The author writes that there is exodus from the Nawaz Sharif's party and MLAs started resigning from Assembly. Supporters of Nawaz Sharif said about the people deserting the party that they had never been with the party. This is true up to some extent because some people were taken in just for the ministerial birth. Factionalism in the Muslim League of Nawaz Sharif is increasing very fast. Cases against his family members are at the last stage. The author writes that Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif have been habitual liars. Earlier they used to say that they have not reached any deal with Pervez Musharraf before going to Dubai but when Musharraf released a copy of the deal signed by him then he kept silent. These days there is an environment of election in the country. The way during the election of deputy chairman of the upper house of Parliament there was a deal between Asif Ali Zardari's Pakistan People's Party and Imran Khan's party that has now changed into enmity. Similarly President of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Sharif and his daughter are targeting Asif Ali Zardari and Imran Khan. Leaders have started switching sides just before elections. It is indicated that in the present scenario Imran Khan may come to power but no single party would get a majority. There is a possibility that coalition government will come to power in Pakistan. Pakistan People's Party would sit in opposition because it is not ready to enter into alliance with Imran Khan. The present government complete its terms in the middle of May. General elections in Pakistan will take place in July. The government announced a scheme to make black money white for which newspapers said that this is a new way of making black money earnings into white. Security agencies of Pakistan claimed that it is important to check terrorism that black money is curtailed sternly. Siyasat in its issue on April 14 welcomed Supreme Court's decision of banning Nawaz Sharif and said that the way Supreme Court had made ineligible for holding any post for life time that made supporters of Nawaz disheartened. But this decision is going to give strength to Imran Khan because at present there is no such high profile leader in the country. He is considered to be the India Policy Foundation May 1-15,

most cleaver leader in the country who faced Pakistan Peoples' Party during the time of Benazir Bhutto and dethroned her. Later on due to revolt from Pervez Musharraf he fed Saudi Arabia to take refuge there and later came to power once again. The question is that will Nawaz Sharif sit at home silently after getting debarred from power or he will try to make his family members as his successor. According to Etemaad (April 16), President of Pakistan Shahid Khan Abbasi said that reorganization of states of Pakistan especially Punjab and Sindh partition of Punjab and Sindh it is important that all leaders of Pakistan take unanimous decision. II Terrorist Sentenced Twenty Years in Jail According to Inquilab (April 20), a Belgian court sentenced 20 years in jail to the accused of Paris and Brussels Salah Abdul Salam. One of his accomplish was also sentenced for 20 years in jail or firing at the police. Both these terrorists boycotted court proceedings. This is to recall that these terrorists were accused of terrorist attack in November 2015 on Paris in which 130 people got killed. The accused was arrested from Belgium. When police had gone to arrest him he attacked ob police by firing shots along with his accomplish. III A Woman General in Afghanistan According to Inquilab (March 25), for the first time in the history of Afghanistan a woman has been appointed as General of Army. Earlier doors of Army have been closed for women. Name of the woman general, who has been given the rank of general, is Khatol Mohammadjai. This woman is deputed at gurilla branch and is a successful parachute jumper. At present, 103 women cadets are taking training at Kabul Military training camp. IV Hafiz Saeed's Party Declared a Terrorist Organisation According to Siyasat (April 4), the US government declared dreaded terrorist Hafiz Saeed's organisation as terrorist organisation. The US declared all its office bearers as foreigners. Besides that the US also included an organisation called Kashmir Ki Azadi in the list of terrorist organisation and called it affiliate organisation of Laskar e Toiba. After this decision of the US, the desire of Hafiz Saeed to participate in Pakistan elections received a beating. It is said that under pressure from the US, election commission of Pakistan refused to give certificate to Hafiz Saeed's party to contest elections. India Policy Foundation May 1-15,

VI Justice Punished for Torturing Young Girl According to Inquilab (April 18), Islamabad High Court in Pakistan former judge Khurram Ali and his wife Mahil Zafar has been sentenced one year in jail each and Rs 50,000 fine for torturing their young servant. 19 OTHERS I Perks Worth Twenty Million for Muslims During Ramzan According to Siyasat (April 21), the Telangana Government has decided to give perks worth twenty million to the Muslims during the month of Ramzan. Out of this, five crores will be spent on the repair of the mosque of the state. Apart from this, perks worth fifteen crore rupees will be given to four lakh poor Muslim families of the state. These perks or gifts will be in form of clothes which will be distributed by the Government in eight hundred mosques of the states. In addition to this, Government is also making arrangements for the Muslims to do Iftari during Roza in these mosques. Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali said that the state government has decided to spend five crore rupees on the repair of mosques. In addition, it has also been decided that in the month of Ramzan, hotels and shops will be kept open for twenty-four hours so that Muslims can make their purchases. The government has directed all the departments to pay special attention to provide continuous supply of electricity and water in Muslim-dominated areas during the month of Ramzan. Separate funds have been arranged for this. 52 mobile generators have also been purchased to maintain the electricity supply in the Muslim-dominated areas. Free water will be supplied by the government in mosques. The government will provide special lighting for mosques and its surroundings. During Ramzan, a control room is being made for continuous surveillance on facilities being provided to the Muslims. Also, special quota of sugar is being given to Muslims during Ramzan. II No Wedding of Those Who Will Play Songs! According to Siyasat (April 5), Darul Uloom Deoband has instructed all the Qazis that is any non- Islamic methods are being adopted in the marriage ceremony then they should not move ahead with the Nikah. Mufti Athar Hussain, Qazi of Sadar, Lucknow, said that any Muslim scholar would not go ahead with the marriage ceremony where there will be singing and dancing. He said that no Qazi will go ahead with the nikah of those who will use DJ, Orchestra, Bands etc. and such nikah will be boycotted. According to the newspaper, Muslim scholars in Telangana and Hyderabad are running this campaign to stop the extra expenses in such nikah. A campaign is also being run to stop dowry and other rituals. Apart from this, efforts are also being made to ensure that the marriage ceremony is not been organized in banquet hall and people do not bring lot of people in the ceremony as these are not Islamic methods. III Campaign Against Triple Talaq Bill According to Akhbar Mashrik (April 1), lakhs of Muslim women protested against the triple talaq bill at Azad Maidan. Women protesting against the bill were demanding the withdrawal of the India Policy Foundation May 1-15,

bill. According to the newspapers, this was the biggest protest of women among all in Mumbai. The protest was organized by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board. The protestors were holding boards in their hand on which it was written that don't interfere in Shariat. We won't tolerate interference in religion. Take triple talaq bill back. Most of the women protesting were wearing burqa. The former minister Arif Naseem Khan, Samajwadi Party's Abu Asim Azmi, former MLA Suhail Lokhandwala, MLA Waris Pathan, President of Aman Committee Fareed Sheikh etc. addressed the rally. Speakers warned the government that if any kind of interference in the religious matters of Muslims would have serious consequences. Inquilab (April 5) has claimed in its main news that in the protest by All India Muslim Personal Law Board, thousands of Muslim women donning burqa protesting at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan have demanded from the central government that it should take the triple talaq bill back and government has no right to interfere in the Shara of the Muslims. The protest was led by Dr. Asma Jahra, President of Women's Department of All India Muslim Personal Law Board. Apart from this, Maulana Umri, Chief of Jamat-e-Islami, Maulana Abu Talib Rahmani, former president of Delhi Assembly, Shoaib Iqbal addressed the protestors and said that we oppose the interference in Muslim Shara and if the government brings any bill in this regard then we will strongly oppose it. Hamara Samaj (April 5) has published a news of this protest and titled it 'Divorce Law Government's Way to Destroy Muslim Families'. The newspaper claimed that the plaques in the hands of the women protestors read 'Triple Talaq Bill is anti-muslim, anti-children and antiwomen, triple talaq bill we won't accept interference in Muslim Personal Law, Muslim women are safe in their Sharai law, Government must take this bill back'. IV Giving Citizenship to Bangladeshi Hindus Opposed? Dawat (April 19) said in its editorial that the President of Asom Gana Parishad, Atal Bora said in a press conference that the Asom Gana Parishad will not accept the decision of Central Government to give citizenship to the Hindu intruders of Bangladesh. Notably, Asom Gana Parishad is an ally of BJP and is also part of state government. Intruders are only intruders, they should be sent back. Bora claimed that there is no religious hatred. Hence, if treatment with Hindus and Muslims will be according to the religion then it is not acceptable to us. If Central Government takes any such decision then it will be violation of agreement of Bora even said that if the Central Government will insist on giving citizenship to Hindu intruders of Bangladesh, then we will part our ways from the ruling coalition and safeguard the interests of locals of Assam. Discussion about the discriminations with non-assamese has been going on for a long time in Assam now. In last century, when Marwaris and Gujaratis acquired the businesses in the state and its economy and the situation of Assamese became like laborers, then the Bharteey Jansangh started showing their true colors. As Marwaris and Gujaratis were supporters of the Jan Sangh and used to give them huge money on the name of donation, hence the attention of Assamese was diverted towards the Bengalis coming from Bangladesh and Bengal and then Bengalis were divided in two parts. The Government of India opened its border during liberation war of Bangladesh in Because Jan India Policy Foundation May 1-15,

Sangh was going to get benefit from it, it opposed it. After this, Jan Sangh started the campaign against the Bangladeshi intruders. The role of students has always been crucial in the politics of Assam. V Earnings of Political Parties and Their Deluxe Expenses Dawat (April 16) wrote in its editorial that political parties are no less than an industrialist and their income is increasing regularly. Now money politics is done and earnings are made out of politics. When a party is out of power, then the earnings decrease. In last financial year, the earning of BJP increased by 81 per cent while the earning of Congress decreased. This conclusion was given by an organization, Association for Democratic Reforms on the basis of income and expenses filed with the election commission. According to this report, last year the income of BJP increased by 1,034 crores while the income of Congress decreased from 256 crores to 225 crores. Interesting fact is that BJP had spent less than their income while Congress has spent more than its income. Both the parties declared that the source of income of their party is donation but they delayed in declaring the audit report. An amazing thing is that this organization has released the description of seven national political parties. These seven political parties include BJP, Congress, CPI, CPM, Nationalist Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party, Trinamool Congress. All these national parties generated income of Rs. 1,559 crores. Maximum income was generated by BJP which received 66 per cent of total donation. Congress comes on the second position. Both the parties generated income of Rs. 1,259 crores, whereas the rest of the parties generated incomes of Rs. 300 crores. Communist Party received the least amount of Rs. 2 crores, Bahujan Samajwadi Party received donation of Rs. 173 crore and it spent Rs. 51 crore rupees. BJP spent Rs. 710 crore whereas Congress spent Rs. 321 crores. Now parties are making magnificent party offices. It is interesting to know that Congress which has been in power for around 60 years and has been accused of looting the country has not been able to make its own office. BJP came into power four years ago and got constructed a magnificent office. It is difficult to contest elections in this scenario. There was a time, when politicians used to walk, then they started going on car, now helicopter is the next thing. Every party keeps three things in mind while giving tickets for elections. First the candidate should be a billionaire. Secondly, he should be popular amongst the public and third, what is the ratio of voters of the candidate's caste. Those who take ticket from party are billionaire. This is the reason why 25 Chief Ministers i.e. 81 per cent Chief Ministers are billionaire. The public might be poor but the majority of the elected representative is billionaire. The dream of development and prosperity shown to the poors is only misleading. VI Case of Fraud Filed Against Azam Khan According to Inquilab (April 26), case of fraud has been filed against five people including Azam Khan. Yogi Adityanath Government has filed this case on the basis of report on fraud in India Policy Foundation May 1-15,

appointments of staff in Water Corporation. Those against whom case has been file include a former IAS officer SP Singh and OSD Aasoo Maali. In this matter, the government has arrested more than one hundred junior engineers. VII Antiques Missing from Aligarh Muslim University According to Inquilab (April 26), the antiques recovered by Department of Archeology of Aligarh Muslim University in excavation of various areas of Uttar Pradesh have been missing from the University. These antiques were kept in Sir Saiyyed Museum and Department of Archeology. It is said that Department of Archeology found out these antiques in excavation process of Uttarandikheda of Eta, Kheda of Vikasganj, Fort Shivpur of Bulandshahar and Daulatpur. These antiques are as old as B.C years. These antiques included utensils made of iron and copper, makeup accessories of ladies and weapons. Saiyyad Ali Nadeem Rizvi, Head of Department of History said that these antiques were kept in two almirahs. Many out of nine thousand things present in the museum are missing now. Vice-Chancellor of University of has formed a subcommittee to investigate this matter. According to Inquilab (April 27), former Head of Department of History, Prof. Ali Atar has claimed that these antiques were sent to America in 2013 and they have never returned back from there. He said that Dr. J. Menon had sent these antiques to America and released an amount of Rs. 8,72,000 to send these antiques to America. These antiques were sent through a truck on 30th June, He said that when they didn't returned then he informed the Indian Archeological Department about it. VIII Dalit-Muslim Unity is Impossible According to Sahafat (April 11), leader of Muslim Rashtriya Manch Wajahat Qasmi said that some organizations who are running campaign of Dalit-Muslim unity are doing nothing just misleading the Muslims as well as Dalits. He accused the so-called secular parties that they are using Dalits against the government for their own political benefits. They want to destroy the national unity by provoking communal riots during the upcoming elections. He said that the truth is that Dalits never supported the Muslims and all the riots which happened against Muslims, Dalits were the front-runners to attack them. Mayawati was Chief Minister for two tenures in Uttar Pradesh. But she nor gave the rights to the Muslims neither the respectable position. Due to the misbehavior of Mayawati, leaders like Naseemuddin Siddique had to leave Bahujan Samajwadi Party. Mayawati works only for Dalit after she comes into the power and forgets the other communities. Some selfish elements are trying to fool the Muslims and provoking them to stand against the Government. Their conspiracy will never succeed. India Policy Foundation May 1-15,
