A short class is held the second Tuesday of the month at 7pm in the Rectory. Communal Baptisms are at 1pm the second Sunday of the month or any Sunday at the 11:30am Mass. ANOINTING OF THE SICK Please contact the Rectory when someone is about to undergo a serious surgery or has a great risk to health. MATRIMONY Marriage arrangements should begin a year before the proposed date of the wedding by making an appointment with the Pastor. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We welcome adults considering membership in the Catholic Church and those desiring to complete their sacraments. RICA is for you. Fourth Sunday of Lent (Laetare Sunday) The Fourth Sunday of Lent is rather unique; like the Third Sunday of Advent ("Gaudete Sunday"), the Fourth Sunday of Lent is a break in an otherwise penitential season. The vestments for this day will be rose, as they are on Gaudete Sunday in Advent, and flowers may adorn the Altar. This day is called "Laetare Sunday" (also "Rose Sunday" ) Page 1

3 RELICS OF CHRIST S PASSION Holy Rosary Church will be hosting a special presentation of nine, rare Relics of the Passion this Thursday, March 15th at 7:00pm. If you would like to experience something that might help you and your family connect with Jesus in His Passion in a new way this Lenten Season, we encourage you to join us. Having all these relics together while meditating on the Passion is something you may see only once in a lifetime. Everyone will have the opportunity to venerate each one of the relics at the end of the program. We hope to see you there. GOLDEN WEDDING JUBILEE MASS Couples celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary during 2018 are invited to attend the Golden Wedding Jubilee Mass with Cardinal Dolan at St. Patrick s Cathedral on Sunday, June 3rd, at 2:15pm. The closing date to register for the Mass is Monday, May 14, LENT EVANGELIZATION In the present weeks, on Saturdays during Lent, parishioners will be encouraging and welcoming our friends and neighbors to return back to the Church. With Lent leading up to Easter it s a great time to welcome those who have been away to come back to Jesus and celebrate His Resurrection in the Mass. This is a wonderful opportunity to 'Do Something' for our Lord instead of giving something up. 4 URGENT: ACTION REQUIRED In his annual budget, Governor Cuomo included a radical bill (S.7511) that would eliminate virtually all limitations on abortion in New York State. It would ensure that abortion is legal through all nine months of pregnancy, for any reason: it would allow for more late-term abortions, even though studies show that a fetus experiences pain at 20 weeks: it would eliminate the law that requires that a baby born alive after an abortions be given adequate health care, even though as many as 5% to 10% of babies in late term abortions are born alive; it would permit non-doctors to do abortions so even if an abortion was against a mother s will (involuntary or coerced), or if an unborn child is deliberately targeted for an act of violence, it could not be prosecuted. New York State already has far too many abortions. We don t need broader abortion laws. We need our law to respect human life at all stages. This is particularly dangerous, because the law requires a budget to be passed by April 1st. Please contact your state legislators to oppose this extreme bill. HOLY ROSARY BAZAAR 2018 The cold weather makes it hard to believe, but we are less than three months away from our Annual Holy Rosary Bazaar!!! Mark your calendars for May 30th and 31st and June 1st and 2nd. This year, as we begin to organize, the Bazaar Committee is making a formal request for help. If you have volunteered for the Bazaar in the past, please do so again we need your EXPERIENCE! If you are looking for a new way to become more involved with the Parish, consider volunteering to help us out. We need your ENERGY! Volunteers are needed to help with the preparation for the Bazaar (starting now); to help during the Bazaar; and to help out, once the Bazaar is over. Being a part of the Parish Community provides us all with opportunities like this to interact with each other, and become a closer Christian family.
