3 THE SANCTUARY The presidential chair and the leader of song have been sharing the same space in the sanctuary which created an unnecessary busyness on that side of the sanctuary. To alleviate the congestion, the presidential chair along with the altar server chairs were moved to the opposite side of the sanctuary, swapping places with the credence table. Msgr. Barry Rosary Altar Society The Rosary Altar Society wishes to thank all the parishioners who have so generously bought cakes and Christmas raffles to support us. The proceeds from these events are used by the Parish for various repairs, improvements and to help local families in need. Details of our first meeting are as follows: September 3rd - First Sunday - 9:30am Mass September 5th - Meeting - 7:00pm in the Gym Today we remember that glimpse of glory given to Peter, James and John when Jesus had taken them up a mountain to pray with Him. Imagine what it must have been like for these three fishermen to see Jesus, whom they had come to know as their leader and friend, as a preacher, teacher, wonderworker, exorcist, healer, and forgiver of sins, suddenly transformed, radiant, brilliant, engaged in conversation with two of the greatest figures in their history, Moses and Elijah. For a few moments they saw Jesus in full glory, then heard a voice from Heaven call Him my Son, telling them and us listen to him (Matthew 17:5). We also hear the prophet Daniel s vision of God in Heaven, the Ancient One, receiving someone called the Son of Man and giving him dominion, glory and kingship over all peoples and nations (Daniel 7:14). This vision in Daniel captures Jesus final destiny, but first, there was the Cross. Eucharist reminds us that we are destined for glory with Christ. But first we continue to live out the dying to selfishness and sin, thereby offering other glimpses into the glory yet to come. How are you being called to listen to him? This world would be a better place to live in if all of us listened to the God who loves us. Three weeks ago the Sunday Gospel reading ended with Whoever has ears ought to hear. The Transfiguration is a reminder to us all of what Jesus did for us, for our salvation. We need to share what Jesus tells us in the Scripture Readings to a society that ought to hear. Religious Education Calendars were mailed to all registered families. Extra calendars are available in the vestibule of the Church. We are still in need of a volunteer Catechist for the 6 th grade on a weekly basis beginning with September through mid-may on Wednesdays.
