Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 15:20-26, 28 Christ our king has conquered death. Gospel: Matthew 25:31-46 The Lord will come in glory to separate one from another. Today s good news Orlando Fernandez by Yara Aldana Don Morin by Bob & Bonnie Truett The value of a worthy woman is beyond measure. Special Intention for David & Louis Alvarez by the family Prayer Service with Deacon Boland Liturgy of the Hours (Morning Prayer) at 8:10am (before the mass), Mon.-Thu. (unless no school on Fri.) Recitation of the Rosary: Mon. Sat., 9am in the Chapel. Novena Our Lady of Perpetual Help Tuesday, after the am Mass. Spanish Adoration & Prayer Group, Thursdays 6:00pm Holy Hour 9-10 Thurs. (except holidays) after the Mass, Divine Mercy, Rosary, Silent Prayer, Benediction. Holy Days Same as Sundays (7:30am, 9:30am & 11:30am) Holy Day Vigil pm Litanies After the am Mass For Reflection: DEVOTIONS When working for God we are really providing for our own future; his external glory and our eternal salvation are the fruits of the same labor. The first reading is taken from the Book of Proverbs 31:10-13, 19-20, The verses chosen for today are taken from the last half of the last chapter of the book and are a hymn in praise of the ideal wife. The author saw to it that the part that a wise, prudent and industrious wife plays in a man's life, and hence in the life of the nation, deserved to be stressed and admired. The second reading is from the first Letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians 5:1-6. In this reading St. Paul continues his discussion of the parousia. He tells his Thessalonian converts that they know as much as he does about the time of that second coming. He had already told them in his preaching that our Lord had said that it would be unexpected. However, this need not frighten them, they would be prepared because they were living their Christian faith every day. The Gospel is from St. Matthew 25:14-30 or 25:14-15, The lesson of this parable, like all the teaching of the gospel, is as applicable to us today as it was to the first generation of Christians. In its relation to Christ and to his divine Father our world today is very similar to first century Palestine. Christ and God have opponents and followers. Their opponents today have the very same reasons that moved the Pharisees and leaders of the people in Christ's day. They want their messianic kingdom here on earth, a kingdom of pleasure and plenty; they want no limits set to their freedom to follow their own earthly inclinations. Their pride in their own selfexalted dignity will not let them bow the head to any deity or divine authority which does not conform to their standards. Like the Pharisees they keep on trying to convince themselves that Christianity is not true, that Christ will not reign, that there will be no day of reckoning. Eternal happiness is the divine reward for an earthly service faithfully rendered. The false excuse of the third servant is repeated in many forms among us still "God is too austere, he could not expect me to make such sacrifices. I have to provide for myself; his promises and threats may be only empty words. He may never return to demand a reckoning, to settle accounts with us. These and all other such excuses are proved false in this parable. God is a kind Father who has our eternal interests at heart. He does expect us to make the necessary sacrifices. He showed us the way on Calvary.

Father Chris Theological Session Father Chris has been discussing many objectives in the life of Mary as Mother of Jesus and their closeness. Last session, he clarified the idea between Mary and the Immaculate Conception and therefore that Jesus body, bone and blood are totally from His Mother, Mary. What a beautiful thought and why Mary is often honored along with Jesus. Please find the hour to come and listen to these special thoughts and their relationship. The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Memorial November 21st Today the Church celebrates the memorial of the Presentation of Mary. The three feasts of the birthday of Our Lady, the holy Name of Mary and her Presentation in the Temple correspond in the Marian cycle with the first three feasts of the cycle of feasts of our Lord: namely, Christmas, the Holy Name of Jesus, and His Presentation in the Temple Mary s presentation was celebrated in Jerusalem in the sixth century. A church was built there in honor of this mystery. The Eastern Church was more interested in the feast, but it does appear in the West in the 11th century. Although the feast at times disappeared from the calendar, in the 16th century it became a feast of the universal Church. As with Mary s birth, we read of Mary s presentation in the temple only in apocryphal literature. In what is recognized as an unhistorical account, the Protoevangelium of James tells us that Anna and Joachim offered Mary to God in the Temple when she was 3 years old. This was to carry out a promise made to God when Anna was still childless. Though it cannot be proven historically, Mary s presentation has an important theological purpose. It continues the impact of the feasts of the Immaculate Conception and of the birth of Mary. It emphasizes that the holiness conferred on Mary from the beginning of her life on earth continued through her early childhood and beyond. Pope Francis Reflects on the Rosary Here I would like to emphasize the beauty of a simple contemplative prayer, accessible to all, great and small, the educated and those with little education. It is the prayer of the Holy Rosary. In the Rosary we turn to the Virgin Mary so that she may guide us to an ever closer union with her Son Jesus to bring us into conformity with him, to have his sentiments and to behave like him. Indeed, in the Rosary while we repeat the Hail Mary we meditate on the Mysteries, on the events of Christ s life, so as to know and love him ever better. The Rosary is an effective means for opening ourselves to God, for it helps us to overcome egotism and to bring peace to hearts, in the family, in society and in the world. Congratulations! St. Teresa Church Candlelight Choir won again this year s Disney audition for the Epcot Candlelight Concert! They will perform with Disney on Dec. 3 rd at 6:45 PM and 8:15 PM. We will have a Christmas Concert here on Friday, Dec. 1 st to help raise funds to help defray the cost of the bus that will take us to Disney. Disney is offering special prices for family and friends of our Candlelight Choir. Prices are $79 valid November 26 through December 9. In honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, there will be a special service celebrated at the 5Pm Mass on December 9th with special readings and songs in Spanish. Then on Sunday at 4 Pm there will be a Fiesta in the Parish Hall. All are invited. An elder Mexican man, Juan Diego, makes his way to Mass in the early morning twilight of December 9, It is the first of apparitions by Our Blessed Mother. On October 12, 1945, Pope Pius XII, decreed Our Lady of Guadalupe to be "Patroness of all the Americas." Her feast day is December 12, and it is a Holy Day of Obligation in Mexico.

5 Thirty Third Sunday in Ordinary Time Thanksgiving The holiday of Thanksgiving is celebrated in the United States with family gatherings and traditional foods. The Church also has a special liturgy for this day. The Entrance Antiphon sets the tone for our religious observance, "Sing and play music in your hearts to the Lord, always giving thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (Eph 5:19-20). Eucharist means Thanksgiving and we should be especially grateful for this most sublime gift. We hope you will enjoy some of our recipes and suggestions for this day. Let's try to celebrate as Christians remembering to be temperate as we carve the turkey and eat the pies. The following suggested petitions would make a nice addition to our meal prayers: That the Church throughout the world will more vigorously thank the Lord for His kindness towards His children. Lord hear our prayer. That the government of our beloved country will never forget to praise and thank the Almighty who is the generous Giver of each gift. Lord hear our prayer. That those who suffer may recall that God still loves them and wants to lead them to unending peace in the next world. Lord hear our prayer. That all Americans on Thanksgiving Day will be blessed with a fresh awareness of the loving Most Blessed Trinity from whom all good things come. Lord hear our prayer. That those Americans who have no faith in God may be touched by grace this day and seek the Creator of the universe. Lord hear our prayer. That the faithful departed will soon gather around God's altar in paradise where they will joyfully thank Him for ever. Lord hear our prayer. Thanksgiving Prayer We thank you, Father, for the gift of Jesus your Son who came to our earth and lived in a simple home. We have a greater appreciation of the value and dignity of the human family because he loved and was loved within its shelter. THANKSGIVING DAY FOOD BLESSING MASS The tradition here at St. Teresa is for parishioners to bring baked goods (homemade bread, rolls, cakes, etc.) to share with the shut-ins, sick, and needy of our community. Let us help those who are not as fortunate as we are. These baked goods can be placed on the steps of the sanctuary for a special blessing before they are distributed. Our parish has a very successful food pantry. Many people come to us for food; in fact, the number of people has increased this year. Also, this need increases at holiday time. We ask people to bring canned goods, dry food stuffs, cereal, pasta, rice, etc. to Mass and place them in the baskets provided in the foyer of the Church. Some of these items will be presented at the Presentation of the Gifts. Thank you for your generosity. Finally, if you wish, you can bring some item of food that you will be serving during your Thanksgiving Dinner for a special blessing of food and for a prayer of Thanksgiving. Let us make this day a day of celebration and thanksgiving to God for the many wonderful and gracious gifts he has given to us. We do have much to be thankful for Bless us this day; may we grow in love for each other in our family and so give thanks to you who are the maker of all human families and our abiding peace. Advent Giving Project On the evergreen trees on either side of the doors in the Narthex are tags with sex and ages of children from 3 months to 14 years. Please take a tag or two and purchase a toy for the children that come to our Food Pantry. Do NOT wrap the gifts, but attach the tag to it and put it in the yellow wagon by the Chapel. Parents of children who come to our Food Pantry will come and shop for a gift for each of their children. Thank you for your generosity in meeting the needs of our brothers and sisters who are less fortunate. Advent Wreath Lighting At each weekend Mass we will have the lighting of the Advent Wreath candle(s). Please consider signing up to light the candle(s). It can be done by an individual, a couple or a family. There is a sign-up chart in the main entrance of the Church with the directions to be followed. You will process in with the Readers and before the Presider at the beginning of the Mass.

6 Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time Proverbs 31:10-13, 19-20, A Woman of Valor The role of women continues to evolve in society and in the church. We have become more aware of the gifts women have to offer and the benefits of placing those gifts in service to the community. Women who generously offer their wisdom and talents have made the world a better place to live. Hundreds of years before the dawn of Christianity, the Book of Proverbs praised the gifts of a worthy wife. It is interesting to look from this distance at what that culture valued. The book warns against the charm and beauty of certain women. Those qualities will not last. Instead, Proverbs praises the wife who brings good to the home, who obtains wool and flax, who spins fabric with proficiency, and gives to the poor. A good wife, then, was one of noble character, who used her skills for the community, and who performed charity. Although our image of women has changed, some values have remained constant. Women who devote themselves to faith, family, and work can still rejoice in the praise of the Book of Proverbs. The entire community thanks God for their inspiring service and care.
