4 California Chapter No. 1 Royal Arch Masons Meets every 3rd Friday of the month (July & August Dark) 6:30 pm Dinner, 7:30 pm Convocation Happy April Companions! March was a very Exciting and productive month. For the first time in quite a while, or at least since I have been a member, California Royal Arch Chapter no. 1 had six candidates to receive the Mark master degree. These six new Mark Masters also said they will be receiving the rest of their degrees at the festival at Siminoff. I am also asking for all Royal Arch Masons to attend the upcoming festival and support the Chapter and the Candidates on their new Masonic journey. I would also like to thank all the members of the degree team as well as the Officers Coach for the Mark master and I hope we can do at least one more Mark Master degree this year with your help. Thank you again Companions. Don t forget to get you RSVPs in to Jim Lintner for the Sweethearts Cheesecake Factory. Fraternally, Michael O. Tarver High Priest

5 California Commandery No. 1 Knights Templar Meets every 1st Friday of the month (July & August Dark) 6:30 pm Dinner, 7:30 pm Conclave Knightly Virtues: A true knit is Generous A True Knight is Generous of spirit, always willing to lend an ear to a troubled companion or acknowledge a friend's accomplishments with lavish praise. He is generous with his time, always endeavoring to share his knowledge and experience with the younger Knight. A True Knight shall always offer to help and assist whenever the need should require it. Sir Knights, we must always remember the knights generous spirit. A kind word or a friendly smile may be all it takes to make some's day. Remember the teaching of Jesus in John 14:12 "I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father". He generosity was universal, let us ask our self what blessings we have to share and give for the betterment of humanity. Fraternally, Mark Harris Commander Friday May 4 - Special Guest Speaker - REV. DR. YVETTE A. FLUNDER Founder and Senior Pastor, City of Refuge United Church of Christ Presiding Bishop, The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries. She will talk abuot God, the church, the Bible and the noble duties of a Knight. Friday June 1 - CA Cammandery No 1 will formally receive Right Eminent Grand Commander Greg Hall, at our Stated Conclave.

6 Companions, King Solomon s Chapter No. 95 Royal Arch Masons Meets every 3rd Wednesday of Jan/Mar/May/Jul/Sep/Nov 6:30 pm Dinner, 7:30 pm Convocation It s tax month! Yes, companions we have the responsibility and duty we owe to our country. It is parallel to the duty we owe to God, to our neighbor and ourselves. This was instructed on the First Degree Charge of Masonry. Our personal taxation levied from our income, property, sales, estate and other fees. It uses to finance our government expenditures. Without taxes, government will perish. Our Royal Arch Masons institution is identical to the government needs. Without our desire, interest, involvement and support of our valued attendance, our Chapter will depart. As I am writing, I glanced at a prestigious organization magazine regarding attendance. It s a funny story. A nearby theater was showing an action movie the same night as our lodge meeting. A friend of mine called me and said he was sick and would not attend the meeting. I said, no problem, since I was sick also. That same night we ran into each other at the movie theater same time as our lodge meeting. As we saw each other, we laughed and agreed that the movie was much better time spent than similar expense of time at the lodge. This is what we as an order are up against. We must compete for people s time, and it s not easy. We should ask ourselves how can we hold our member s interest? from the Author. It s a fact that our attendance is a dynamic catalyst element for the survival of our institution. There s a deep concern that our York Rite, our Chapter in particular our attendance are constantly dwindling. It is true! Why is that? Is it because the officers or meeting topics are old and boring? Is the opening or meeting itself too long? Is there personal issue between members. Is the food undesirable? Or, do we lack education to know what we are? On the contrary, some institutions prosper with member s attendance. Of course, there are reasons such vitalities as, members hang around after meeting with educational talks, fun jokes, enjoyable experience over a drink and food. Members support each other regarding fashion, apparels, grooming without malice and bearing to politics and religion. Members doing night outing, having bingo or card games or just have simple dancing lessons. These spices are the cream of camaraderie. A friendly greeting, humorous, enthusiastic word and shake-of-hands with smile to each one of us can make lots of difference to keep our order lively and gay. Brothers and companions what is it that you want? Tell me what makes you bored? Together we can make the difference. Congratulations to our Companion Alberto T. Jacinto, PHP for his investiture to the gentry of Knight of the York Cross of Honor (KYCH). Kudos to you Albert! Be advised that our Grand York Rite Session will be May 20 (Sun.) to 23 (Wed.) to be held in Wydham Hotel-9000 W. Airport Dr., Visalia, CA; This is alike to Annual Grand Lodge Communication. All York Rite members are cordially invited. May 20 (Sunday) Drill Team competition for Knights Templar & Grand Banquet May 21 (Monday) Grand Council Cryptic Masons May 22 (Tuesday) Grand Commandery Knights Templar May 23 (Wednesday) Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons Fraternally yours, Walter A. Ancheta High Priest

All officers are required to attend this meeting. Full uniform is required. Any officer who can not make it must inform us ahead of time. Remember, the inspection result is important and every Sir knight has a role to play in our success. The points we earn reflects on us as a Commandery. When we do well, it is because of everyone s efforts therefore the glory belongs to all of us. Thank you for all the hard work that the line officers put in. Only when we work together will we accomplish great things! god bless you all and your family. 8 Dear Companions: California Council No. 2 Cryptic Masons Meets every 2nd Friday of the month (July & August Dark) 6:30 pm Dinner, 7:30 pm Assembly As expected the March Assembly was a challenge after the record February attendance but we had 15 Companions (vs. 20 in February), 1 Candidate and 4 beautiful ladies for a total of 20 attending. We had more than enough to open in due form and we had fun with an Easter craft competition! Lady Elsa Eadus won a special prize for the Easter Craft Competition with Lady Annette Lim a close second. Many dressed in their Filipino best who looked kahanga-hanga (wonderful) and masaya (happy)! The food was excellent and all left busog at nasiyahan (full and satisfied)! Special thanks to Elsa Eadus, our international guest chef for the fine specialty cuisine. We met our goals for March and I hope you will continue to support your Council again in April. We have planned a Western Night with line dancing! So please bring your ladies for an evening of dancing and instructions. We will have a guest Line Dancing Instructor who has her own School of Instruction. Invite our candidates! Dress in appropriate western attire! We are expecting a themed meal prepared by the well renowned celebrity chef, Janet Price, known throughout the Masonic kingdom for her culinary skills! So, if you are coming please be sure to make your reservations with Mori at or mhmoriuchi@aol.com. Remember that your ladies are free; first time 2018 attendees get a welcome gift and a $1/attendee goes to the Cryptic Council Medical Research Foundation (CCMRF). It would be great to see you all of you at the next Council Assembly scheduled for the second Friday on April 13 th. I am publishing the attendance figures because what gets measured gets managed! I know that many important and right things cannot be measured but hope that with publishing the attendance you can assist in invigorating your Council and Yorkrite in general by attending at least one (or more) meeting(s) during the Cryptic year. We need the support of tenured members so that we can attract the newer and new members. Most of us measure our day by what we do or did. We reflect and count the things on our to-do list. The more important questions to ask ourselves at the end of the day should probably be how was our day?. One way to improve the quality of at least one day a month is to attend our monthly assemblies where you receive love, fellowship, friendship, support; and where you will smile and laugh with people that love you! A second reminder to please be sure you pay your 2018 dues for Council as well as for Chapter and Commandery. If you have any past years dues, please contact your Secretary/Recorder. Ending on a positive note, we have elected two new candidates to take the Council Degrees in April. I also understand that CA Chapter #1 had 6 candidates for the Mark Master Degree in March. Hopefully, we will be balloting on additional candidates in April. A reminder to ALL Companions and especially the officers to attend the Council School of Instruction on March 31 st at Burlingame Lodge starting at 9am; as well as the Council Degrees on April 14 th. Please contact me if you have any questions. Fraternally, Mori Moriuchi Illustrious Master
