We have been blessed to not lose a Sister. Thank you, Mrs. Daniel Hood, for all your work in making the El Torito fund raiser successful. Our Sisters facing health and other challenges are encouraged by your notes and phone calls. Thank you for sharing your love. November 6thelections will be held. The dedication and service of our Sisters makes our Assembly outstanding and successful. Each station is necessary and participation is rewarding. Our Past Presidents will be honored on November 20th. Please plan on being with us on this day. The love and support from our Past Presidents is often mentioned. This is our opportunity to show them how much we appreciate and love them. The Ninety-Second Installation of Officers will take place ondecember 4th. What an exciting day for all! Invite your family
4 and friends to attend. This is an enjoyable way to introduce the Social Order of the Beauceant and to interest others in being a part of our beautiful Order. It is hard to believe the term is ending. What an honor to serve as President of our loving and dedicated Assembly. Thank you so very, very much to each of you for the support, interest, participation and service for our Assembly. Johnny Wooden, legendary UCLA basketball coach, said, "You cannot live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you." My dear Sisters, you DO live perfect days. You give of yourselves, not only to Beauceant Sisters, but to others who touch your lives. You certainly do so much for me, and I will never be able to repay you. You have blessed me by all you do and by being you. Thank you so much. You fill a special place in my heart. So I will follow up in the December article on that event. We are on our way towards the close of a wonderful and eventful year. Qualifications are upon us along with the elections of our 2016 Officers. I hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving with their loved ones and may we all show gratitude for all that we have and are blessed with. Autumn is here and the leaves are turning brown. November is the time of year when we reflect on the months passed and count our blessings. Thankfulness is the theme we have affixed to this season. Thanksgiving is a day we celebrate providence. Personally, I am thankful for what God has provided, for my family, for my Brothers and friends, for my health, and for this great nation. Our next meeting is November 23 (6pm social; 6:30pm dinner; 7:30pmmeeting). We will have elections and a special presentation at this meeting - it is important to attend. Contact our Recorder, Illustrious Companion Carlos Gonzalez, at secretary@sfvyrb.org or (213) to make your dinner reservations. A Thanksgiving Prayer Oh, Lord, now this we're thankful for: The good things life has held in store; The love of those within our home, And friends to greet wherever we roam; The health and strength wherewith to toil, The bounteous food from freedom's soil; We thank Thee for the right to pray And worship Thee in our own way; To live within a land that's free; For this, dear Lord, our thanks to Thee; And through these blessings, one by one,

Baca Los Angeles Commandery No. 9 - Knights Templar Dear Ladies and Sir Knights, Greetings to you all. One of the things I have been meditating on lately is how quickly time seems to go by when you keep yourself busy. Summer seems to have passed in a flash. Our yearly degree conferrals are completed, the weather is finally cooling off, and the final annual Holidays are around the corner. I marvel that it seems like just yesterday I attended my first York Rite meeting. I still remember the newness and excitement of my first speaking part in a degree, or the first time I was asked to sit in for an absent officer, or selected to serve as one. If there is one thing I take from these observations, is it to take more time and appreciate the specialness of each and every moment and interactions I am blessed with. How many of these moments are singular and never to be repeated? How many of our York Rite brothers and sisters might I never see again? It can be hard to take the time to view our world this way, especially when focused on the ambitions plans and goals we all carry. I say this not only in regard to our York Rite and Masonic endeavours, but equally to our family and career obligations. I often speak of holding ourselves to a higher ideal and 'walking the walk' in our identity as Christian Knights. One of our teachings speaks directly to the impermanence of ego and the physical world which we inhabit. How much more important it is then to focus on and value the intangible and eternal aspects of our time spent together in the quarries of Masonry and our daily routines. Does any of this ring true
10 for you? Perhaps we need not wait for the new year, lent, or a major and life changing event to motivate us to refocus our priorities and conduct. If today were to be your last, is there anything you'd wished to have done differently? At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do. "All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him." Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, "Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it." - Lk 10: Yours in Faith, Simon A.
