We had a great turnout, setting new records for the number of entrants and models on the tables. It seemed to us at the registration table that everyone was leaving happy with bundles of goodies in their hands. We were unable to have a make and take as IPMS is having problems with Revell getting shipments out on time, and our kits never arrived. I am still waiting for them! When they do show, I will put them away for next year s contest. Our White Elephant table only sold $80 worth of club members merchandise, so next year we will do away with it and have another vendor table available instead. Treasurer Ed will give us a breakdown of the financials at the November meeting. I did a cost analysis of our trophy costs, and we can leave the price of a trophy pack at $25 next year. The executive board is discussing vendor table fees, with the hope of attracting more vendors with new stuff instead of mostly people cleaning out collections. We voted to hold Granitecon on October 18 th next year. Our date has been approved by Doc Wiseman, our IPMS Regional Coordinator, and we are good to go. In other IPMS news, I have sent in a check to cover our IPMS Charter renewal for Those who are not members of the national organization should check it out and think about joining. We have lost a couple of members who have moved away who were IPMS members, so we are getting close to the magic number required to renew our charter each year. A couple extra never hurts. Please give it some thought. Without the national organization behind us we would not have the insurance needed to hold Granitecon which is provided for us through IPMS/USA. We held nominations for officers for the coming year. So far the only takers were the members of the current executive board. This month we will hold the official election. If you decide you would like to run for an office, write-ins are welcomed. You can announce your intentions before the vote is taken. Our homework for this month s meeting is to bring in any homemade tools you use when modeling and share how you use them. Also, start thinking about a theme for Granitecon.

2 Paul Lessard went to the Mideastern Regional railroad convention last month in Maryland. He enjoyed the clinics and layout tours, and helped to judge the model contest. He also visited Mainline Hobbies in south central Pennsylvania, where he found himself in railroad heaven. A bunch of our members went to a Collins Foundation World War II re-enactment where some of the new vehicles purchased by the foundation showed up. Participating Hobby Shops These are the hobby shops that support us and our efforts year after year. They give club members discounts, provide donations for club contests, and stock the supplies and new kits we crave. Please support them, too!
