6 42 nd Annual Johnny Lopez 2016 Knights of Columbus State of Texas Open Golf Championships Brother Knights and Fellow Golfers, For some of you this year s State Golf Tournament is going to be bit of a road trip again. By popular demand we are headed again to Squaw Valley Golf Club. Squaw Valley is a 36 hole complex in Glen Rose, Texas, about 30 miles SW of Fort Worth. The complex features some beautiful holes across rolling hills with a creek running through it providing a number of challenging water features. Some of you may not have heard that Daryl Entrop, our State Program Director and Tournament organizer for the past 23 years passed away on March 10. Daryl s tireless work in organizing this tournament as well as all the other statewide programs for the Knights was a wonderful gift that we will be eternally indebted for. Please bare with us this year as we work to maintain the quality and integrity of the event that has brought so many of you back year after year. In tribute to Daryl please make your plans to attend and help us to expand participation in this year s tournament. Last year for play on Saturday & Sunday we only had 130 golfers. I know that many of our players last year traveled as much as 6 to 8 hours to play in our tournament and I commend you for that. So you golfers that are less than 1 to 3 hours away, we need your support. I know there are many golfers that would enjoy the weekend with their brother knights from around the State if they just knew about it, so please pass along the word Tournament Information: The 42nd Annual Johnny Lopez Knights of Columbus State of Texas Open Golf Championship is being hosted by Council from St. Rose of Lima Parish in Glen Rose. The tournament will be held the weekend of August 26, 27, 28, 2016, at Squaw Valley Golf Courses, in Glen Rose, TX. The Friday Scramble Tournament, which has a 1:00pm shotgun start, will be played on the Apache Links Course. The Friday Scramble is optional, you do not have to play it to play in the Saturday/Sunday individual tournament, however, the local council is organizing door prizes and other competitions that will make it a very fun event and I encourage each of you to make it if you can. The

7 Saturday and Sunday individual tournament play will be played at both the Apache Links Course and the Comanche Lakes Course with an 8:00 AM, shotgun start both mornings. Golfers are asked to be at their assigned golf cart no later than 7:30am, so we can start our pretournament prayer and announcements. Registration for the Friday Scramble and the Saturday/Sunday Individual Tournament will be held at Squaw Valley Golf Club starting at 9:30am Friday morning and continuing until 5:30pm Friday evening. Late registration will be held at the golf course on Saturday morning 6:30 to 7:30am. Attached you will find a copy of the tournament entry form. Be sure to complete all the information requested, including council number; flight; division; and membership numbers. Incomplete forms will delay your entry. For those of you who may have not ever played or have not played in one of K of C State Golf Tournaments within the past five (5) years, to establish a handicap for our tournament you will need to submit a copy of your club handicap card or two score cards from two separate rounds of golf on a 18-hole golf course. Submit your handicap with your entry and bring the cards with you to registration. For those of you who have played within the past five years we will have your handicap on record.
