1 The Messenger First United Methodist Church Website: hillsvillefumc.com It seems that you cannot go through the day without seeing a white checkmark plastered on someone s clothing or on TV commercials. That white checkmark is the trademark for the Nike Corporation. Nike spends millions of dollars each month to sell their logo and jingle... Just do it! Just do it! they proclaim. Go to the extreme... push your limits... train hard... challenge opposition... don t wimp out... Just do it! No matter the cost - Just do it! Just do it! was first proclaimed by Jesus. Just do it! Jesus said over and over to his closest disciples. Tell everyone you meet about God s love. Help those who are struggling. Encourage those who have lost hope. Cry with those who grieve. Strive for justice for all. Forgive everyone for everything. Tear down walls and divisions among people. Befriend the lonely and the outcast. Claim your ministry and Just do it! No matter the cost... regardless of the consequences... Just do it! Just do it! Sometimes Jesus asks us to do some pretty incredible things. Sometimes the task before us seems, at the outset, quite impossible. Sometimes those around us discourage us from trying what we have been called to do. But as we learn to trust Jesus... as we follow his leading... as we rely on his Spirit... we can accomplish many wonderful things. Claim your ministry and Just do it! says Jesus. Just do it! Poet Edgar A. Guest says it like this... Somebody said it couldn t be done, but he with a chuckle replied, that maybe it couldn t, but he would be one who wouldn t say so, til he d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin on his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing, that couldn t be done, and he did it. Somebody scoffed, Oh, you ll never do that; At least no one has ever done it ; But he took off his coat and he took off his hat, and the first thing we knew he d begun it. With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin, without any doubting or quiddit, He started to sing as he tackled the thing that couldn t be done and he did it. There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done. There are thousands to prophesy failure; there are thousands to point out to you, one by one, the dangers that wait to assail you. But just buckle in with a bit of a grin, just take off your coat and go to it; just start to sing as you tackle the thing that cannot be done, and you ll do it. There are so many possibilities for ministry all around us... in our homes... in our neighborhoods... in our workplaces... in our church. Despite the odds, regardless of the risks, no matter the reactions or responses of those around you, Just do it!... and see what great things God will do through you. Just do it! Praise be to God! I ll see you each week at the place where the disciples of Jesus... Just do it! You are loved! 16 Page 16 We are all trying to get back in the swing of things since the holidays. The children were so excited to tell us all about their toys they received for Christmas. We had Christmas Show-N-Tell so they could bring in their favorite Christmas Present. To celebrate the great performance the children did at our Christmas Program, we had a Pizza Party!. Yum, Yum!! We will be celebrating Valentine's Day with a party in the classrooms and exchanging Valentines. We will discuss Ground Hog day and let the children see their shadow. We are anxious to see if the groundhog will see his shadow. Yours in Preschool, Paulette Beasley February Birthdays Gage Hendrick 8th Knox Jackson 11th Kinsey Horton 19th Macy Lineberry 22nd
