4 Effective Thursday, Nov 30, I resigned my position as FUMC's Administrative Financial Secretary. I would like to sincerely thank this church for allowing me the opportunity to work here. I hope I have honored the trust you placed in me by fulfilling my duties each day to the best of my abilities and by always striving to improve FUMC in all areas. The impact this church has had on my life, my son's life, and my family's life is immeasurable and I thank you for this and for truly being the body of Christ. -Julie Crim Dear Church Family, Thank you for all your cards, calls, and food and most of all your prayers. -Jean Kidd I just wanted to send a quick note to say how much my church family means to me. I can t count on both hands and feet how many people have asked me how my sister is doing. All from a single . Y all are the BEST!!! Janice is scheduled for surgery Tuesday to put in either pins or a plate, not sure which yet. I think my mom needs the most prayers as she s had a hard time keeping her blood pressure down. She s been hanging around with those enemies named worry and doubt too much so I m trying to get her to hang out with the best friend she has but sometimes forgets, Faith. Advice I have to remind myself too often as I m just as guilty. Love you all so much and you all inspire me to be a better person. Love, Judy Martin

6 As the weather cools, the CCMA Food Pantry serves even greater numbers of the hungry in our community. Unfortunately, the holiday season also is traditionally a time when the Pantry receives fewer monetary donations as people are busy with their holiday activities. Currently the pantry has only about $500 left in their funds. If you are able, please remember the Pantry in your giving and please spread the word to others in our community of their need. Donations can be made in person to the church office or mailed to CCMA Food Pantry, c/o FUMC, PO BOX 356, Hillsville VA A SANTA BREAKFAST hosted by the Youth Group is scheduled for Saturday, December 16 th, from 9 AM to 11 AM. Please spread the word and invite lots of kids and their parents to join us!! (Youth will need to be at the church by 8 AM to set up until Noon to clean.)

7 Red Cross Blood Mobile The Blood Mobile will be here December 26, between 10-2 in the Parking Lot at FUMC. During the season of giving, please consider donating blood. Help save lives! WE NEED VOLUNTEERS for individuals, ministry groups, and Sunday school classes to help prepare Wonderful Wednesday night meals. If you would like to volunteer, contact the church office. NEEDED! Socks and Undies! Our UMW is working to distribute a small supply of NEW socks and underwear to all Carroll County Elementary Schools. Emergencies happen! Sizes to fit Pre-K to 3rd grade. The donation box is in the fellowship hall. The church council has given direction to the Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPR) to inquire about receiving a new associate pastor for the year More details will be given later. -Church Council THE DINNER BELL is currently collecting new or gently used coats to give to those in need in our community. Any size is needed but we are really in need of children s coats. Coats may be hung on the clothing rack in the fellowship hall. Thank you Missions Team.

9 Did you know Hunters for the Hungry is a crucial partner in helping keep the CCMA Food Pantry supplied with meat for those in need in our community? If you would like to give to this program, all you have to do is take your legally harvested, fielddressed deer to a participating meat processor or specified collection point. In Carroll County the participating processor is Bobby s Meat Processing, Austinville, or More information about the program is online at Thank you! The Happy Seniors and United Methodist Women are sponsoring our annual Community Christmas Luncheon for Seniors at noon on Tuesday, December 5, in the fellowship hall. 11 We started the month of November with the emphasis on being thankful. We are so thankful for our preschool children and their families. Special thanks to Ms. Kristi and Ms. Loretta for their hard work and dedication. Our pictures are back from Delp s; Sandy did an amazing job with the children. The pictures were really good. We have been collecting donations from our preschool children to help with the food pantry. We appreciate everyone that has brought something in. We will be having our Christmas Program on Tuesday December 19, 2017 at 7:00PM in the fellowship hall. We have been working really hard learning our finger plays and songs. 13 SENIOR ADULTS The Happy Seniors and United Methodist Women are sponsoring our annual Community Christmas Luncheon for Seniors at noon on Tuesday, December 5, in the fellowship hall. Lunch is free, however, RESERVATIONS are needed. You may sign up on the Senior bulletin board or call the church office ( ). It will be January before we know it! If you are in charge of a volunteer list throughout the year, I will need new list for 2018 soon! Please try and get me a new list by the middle of December! Thank you, Jenna.
