3 Prayer of the Church Third Sunday in Lent 19 March 2017 For all pastors in Christ, that they may faithfully preach the Word of the Lord, rightly dividing Law and Gospel, and that all who hear their preaching may hear in faith and believe it. For all who are gathered here today to worship, that we may recognize that the one true God is present among us to give us His gifts of forgiveness, life and salvation as we worship Him in spirit and in truth. For the government, that we might be blessed with wise and capable leaders who seek to humbly serve those who have chosen them to govern, and that we might be granted peace and prosperity. For all those who are preparing to be pastors, teachers, deaconesses and other church workers, that they may be blessed in their preparations, and that others may be called to the mission of proclaiming Christ, the Messiah. For all those undergoing temptation or doubts about their faith, that they may be strengthened and upheld by the power of the Holy Spirit through the Lord s Word and worship. For the sick, suffering and recovering [including ], that they may be granted health and healing as it pleases the Lord, and that they may be comforted by God s love poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit. For all who receive the gift of Christ s body and blood this day, that they may be granted to receive this holy Supper in repentant faith for the forgiveness of their sins and the strengthening of their faith. For all those who mourn [including ], that they may be comforted by the blessed hope of the resurrection to eternal life for all who are baptized into Christ s death and resurrection, and that the Lord would keep us all steadfast in the true faith until we join all the saints around His throne in His eternal kingdom.

Volunteer drivers donate their time and resources to take patients to treatment and back home again. They also provide encouragement and support. Drivers must have a valid driver s license, a safe and reliable vehicle, and proof of automobile insurance. Volunteer drivers must also have a good driving history, be available during weekdays and pass a background check. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer driver, please contact Corri Lewis at corri.lewis@cancer.org or See poster in hallway for more information. CANCER COMPANIONS Cancer companions are trained church volunteers who support cancer families through individual meetings and/or Christian cancer support groups.
