Parents are reminded that the selection of sponsors must be made according to regulations specified in Canon Law. Information regarding these regulations will be forwarded upon request. Marriage: Engaged couples are asked to make an appointment with Monsignor at least six months in advance of their planned date of marriage. In addition, at least one of the individuals planning marriage must be a registered and active member of the parish. Penance: Saturdays at 4:15 PM or by appointment. Sacrament of the Sick: Please call to receive this Sacrament of comfort and healing. Communion Calls: Communion can be brought to the homebound on Sundays following the 9:30 AM Mass. Please call the parish office to request a visit.

2 THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER April 30, st Reading: Acts 2:14, nd Reading: 1 Peter 1:17-21 Gospel: Luke 24:13-35 FROM THE PASTOR This week we begin the month of May, the month dedicated to our Blessed Mother Mary. During this year when we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, Bishop Tobin has invited the entire diocese to be particularly mindful of the powerful intercession of the Blessed Mother on our behalf. Particularly during the month of May, we can honor her in a special way by praying the Rosary on a regular basis. In order to promote devotion to the Rosary, one of the young boys of our parish, 5th grader Gabriel McInnis has made and donated a number of rosaries that are available for free in the church gathering area for anyone who would like one. He and some friends have made this a special project and have already distributed a large number of rosaries to others. be considered for High School Tuition Assistance should submit a letter to me by June 1. Several families have already applied. Once I receive all the requests, I will determine the grants and seek approval of the Bishop s Office. If you have any questions, give me a call or send me an message. Msgr. Theroux Our parish will be offering May Devotions with Rosary and Benediction on Thursdays at 6:30 PM. Additionally, a group of people gather for the Rosary in church before daily Mass at 8 AM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Even if you can t make it to these devotions all the time, perhaps you could make a point of attending occasionally or at least once during this Month to honor Mary. I also encourage you to bring children so that they have the opportunity to experience Marian Devotion and learn about praying the Rosary. May is also a very good time to be sure that little children know the Hail Mary by heart and to recite it with them every day. We should all find some way to honor our Blessed Mother during the month of May. As you may recall, each year our parish is required to dedicate a percentage of our income for Catholic Education. Most of the funds provide tuition assistance for Elementary Education, but for the past two years we have received permission from the Bishop to provide a portion of the funds to high school students. We have over 100 students from our parish attending Catholic High Schools so the grants we provide are very limited and based on need. Families who wish to apply for assistance must be registered, contributing, active members who attend weekend Mass regularly. Families must have completed the FACTS application for financial assistance through their school and have a designated need. 3 2017 CATHOLIC CHARITY FUND APPEAL MAY DEVOTIONS May Devotions will be on Thursday evening on May 4, 11 and 18 at 6:30pm. Devotions consist of recitation of the Rosary and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. That evening during dinner He took bread, said the blessing, broke it and gave it to them. (Luke 24:30) At once they recognized Him and He disappeared from their view.
