Parents are reminded that the selection of sponsors must be made according to regulations specified in Canon Law. Information regarding these regulations will be forwarded upon request. Marriage: Engaged couples are asked to make an appointment with Monsignor at least six months in advance of their planned date of marriage. 2 NINETEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME AUGUST 7, st Reading: Wisdom 18:6-9 1 st Reading: Hebrews 11:1-2, st Reading: Luke 12:32-48 FALL FESTIVAL 2016 This year we are celebrating our 25 th Anniversary with a Festival the weekend of September 16-18, 2016 on our beautiful grounds at 800 Pippin Orchard Road in Cranston, Rhode Island. Prior year Fall Festivals were outstanding successes and offered fine cuisine, continuous entertainment, amusement rides and games for the entire family. An estimated 3,000 people attended each of the prior year Festivals and the enthusiasm and excitement were shared by all. The success of this grand event would not be possible without the generosity of the parishioners and friends of Holy Apostles. We have indeed been blessed and are grateful for their past support. We are offering an opportunity for friends and parishioners to lend their support as a Fall Festival Friend with a $100 donation. In appreciation of your generosity, your name (i.e. Bob and Mary Smith, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Smith, The Smith family) will appear on the Holy Apostles Fall Festival Donor Board, which will be displayed near the main entrance of the church. They can be in any denominations. You may have a gift hanging around the house that you will never use. All items must be new please. Items can be dropped off at the parish office or given to any choir member. Examples: gift cards from Dunkin, English Muffin, local restaurants; Christmas tree shop items, wreaths, note paper, pictures/frames, coffee, teas, mugs, candy; jewelry, nail polish, manicure/pedicure, sports memorabilia; hula hoops, whiffle ball and bat, trinkets, scarves, key chains, vases, collectables.

4 Wedding Anniversary Celebrations RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS The R.C.I.A. is a program for~ 1- Adults of the Catholic faith who have not received all the Sacraments of Initiation Diocesan Celebration The Office of Marriage Preparation & Enrichment is sponsoring the Tenth Annual Wedding Anniversary Celebration honoring couples of the Diocese of Providence who will be observing their 25 th, 40 th, 50 th and Over wedding anniversary in The celebration will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 1:00PM at the Cathedral of SS. Peter & Paul, Providence and will include Mass, renewal of the marriage vows, a personalized certificate for each couple and a reception for the couples and their families. Bishop Thomas J. Tobin will be the main celebrant. Couples who would like to attend can register for this event by contacting the parish office before August 23 rd. Parish Celebration As part of celebration of the 25 th Anniversary of Holy Apostles Parish, we will have a special parish celebration on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the 11:00 AM Mass for those celebrating milestone anniversaries as well as any couples who were married in Holy Apostles Parish over the past twenty-five years. There will be the opportunity for the renewal of vows as well as a special blessing. Of the 269 couple who have been married in our parish (as of yesterday), a number still live in the parish and I am counting on families and friends to spread the word to others who may have moved away. It would be great to have a good representation of couples join us on that day. 2- Adults baptized in another faith who wish to explore the Catholic church 3- Adults who belong to no particular church and who wish to consider the Catholic church It is important for those considering RCIA to know that participating in the program requires weekly participation at weekend Mass. Classes will begin in the fall on a day and at a time (to be determined) that will be convenient for all participants. Please pay attention to the bulletin for the Inquiry Night date. Boys and Girls entering grade 4 and above are eligible to become altar servers and assist at weekend Mass and on special occasions. Altar serving is also a wonderful way to get closer to Jesus. 5 PARISH NECROLOGY - AUGUST Remembering our deceased loved ones is a long-standing custom in the Roman Catholic Church. In addition to offering personal and public prayers, especially the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the church also uses a Necrology. The parish office will be closed on Monday, August 8 th in observance of the holiday and there will be no morning Mass. STEWARDSHIP AT HOLY APOSTLES Thought of the Week Am I waiting for the right time to become a good steward? Do I plan to share my time and talents later? Today s Gospel warns those who are procrastinating about stewardship to be prepared at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.
