Mark Jordan Haelsen (Birthday Rem.) by Parents 5:00 PM CONFIRMATION MASS Over the last two weeks, I met individually with our thirty-four 10 th grade students who will receive the sacrament of Confirmation from Bishop Tobin next Sunday, April 29 th at the 5:00 PM Mass. Having no idea what to expect, each of them answered questions about our Catholic Faith, the saint they chose for their Confirmation name, the one class or speaker or event during the year that left the greatest impression, and the ultimate goal in life. They were a little nervous, but handled themselves perfectly and I came away renewed in spirit! These young women and men are the next generation of Catholics and I believe they re going to be great and do great things in and for our Church! Please keep them in your prayers in this final week before the Holy Spirit descends upon them at their Confirmation, completes their initiation into the Church and pours into their souls His Seven Gifts (Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Knowledge, Fortitude, Piety and Fear of the Lord). On Sunday, May 6 th at 2:00 PM, our 43 second grade children from our CCD and ICCR School Religion Programs will receive Jesus for the first time in Holy Communion. Additionally, we will have a May Crowning Ceremony. It will be a beautiful moment for them, their families and our parish. If you would like to be part of our First Communion and May Crowning Ceremony, please join us at 2:00 PM (but arrive early it will be crowded)! I hope you are planning to join us for the 50 th Anniversary Celebration of our Parish Church and Family on Sunday, June 24 th. Following Mass with Bishop Tobin at 10:30 AM, we will continue our celebration with a family brunch at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick. Tickets will be available beginning mid-may, and we have a wonderful program planned. Please mark your calendars and be a part of this great anniversary!! Finally, on this Good Shepherd Sunday, please say an extra prayer for all priests (especially me), that we may serve you, God s people, with humble and loving hearts. Thank you! 3 Fourth Sunday of Easter April 22, 2018 Religious Education All Students Welcome back! The last day of RelEd classes for children who attend Sunday sessions will be next Sunday, April 29 th ; for those who attend classes on Monday (except for grade 2 children), the last class is tomorrow, Monday, April 23 rd. The last class for second graders will be next Monday, April 30 th. Grade 2 - First Communion Rehearsals for First Communion will be held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, May 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd respectively from 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm in the church. Banners are due the last day of class, Monday April 30 th. Confirmation I and II Tomorrow is the last class for all Confirmation candidates. Please make every effort to attend - Monday, April 23 rd. Reminder: Community Service hours are due! Confirmation II Confirmation Rehearsal will be held on Wednesday, April 25 th from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the church. Sponsors must attend the rehearsal. If the sponsor is unable to attend, a parent may stand-in as a proxy. Confirmation will be held NEXT Sunday, April 29 th at the 5:00 pm mass. All are welcome to share in the celebration of this sacrament! Next week, our 8 th graders will be traveling to Washington DC. Mr. Frank Galligan, our social studies teacher, has planned a wonderful journey through our American history. The tour includes, the Capitol, Library of Congress, Arlington Cemetery, Changing of the Guard, American History Museum, many memorials and, of course, the Basilica and National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception where we will get a personal tour of our school's namesake and much more. We will be tired upon our return, but will be happy knowing that we provided our students memories to last a lifetime!
