Parents are reminded that the selection of sponsors must be made according to regulations specified in Canon Law. Information regarding these regulations will be forwarded upon request. Marriage: Engaged couples are asked to make an appointment with Monsignor at least six months in advance of their planned date of marriage. In addition, at least one of the individuals planning marriage must be a registered and active member of the parish. Penance: Saturdays from 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm or by appointment. Sacrament of the Sick: Please call to receive this Sacrament of comfort and healing. Communion Calls: Communion can be brought to the homebound on Sundays following the 9:30 AM Mass. Please call the parish office to request a visit.

3 FROM THE PASTOR With Lent just around the corner, we are about to begin the parish phase of the annual diocesan Catholic Charity Appeal. Most of you have probably already received a letter from the bishop with a donation card that you may have returned directly to the diocese with your pledge or donation. I thank you for your donation. In prayerfully considering how much we are able to contribute to the Appeal, I believe it is important for us to know where the money goes and how it is used throughout the state. Next weekend we will welcome Mr. John J. Barry who is the Secretary for Catholic Charities and Social Ministry for our Diocese. He oversees and is directly involved in many of the agencies that are funded by the Catholic Charity Appeal and he will give us an insight into the most important ways that our donations support those in need of assistance or pastoral care. Along with his brief presentation, we will do the in-pew solicitation. There will be envelopes available in the pews for you to make your pledge or one-time gift to the Appeal. Our parish goal again this year is $134, Last year we fell short of the goal. However, I am confident that if every family in our parish made some donation according to their ability to give, we would have no problem surpassing our goal. Every donation is important and makes a difference. If you did not give last year, please consider contributing to this year s Appeal. If you did give last year, thank you for your generosity and please let us count on your continued support. Most of us at Holy Apostles live comfortably and have been blessed in many ways. Let us be mindful of those who struggle or who turn to the Church for pastoral needs. Our generosity is a powerful sign of our gratitude for God s goodness to us. Msgr. If interested but cannot make this meeting, please contact Michael Santilli. Confirmation I Students All Confirmation candidates are required to visit St. Charles Soup Kitchen. The visits are held on Thursday evenings. Please call the Parish Office to schedule your visit. Confirmation II Students All Confirmation II students (only) will attend a Penance service on Monday, February 25 th in Church at 6:30pm. Confirmation II parents will meet at 7:15pm in the Parish Center, downstairs, to discuss details for Confirmation. Students may join parents downstairs for the meeting after Penance. CATHOLIC SCHOOL (GRADES K-8) T UITION ASSISTANCE The underlying premise of the Catholic School Tuition Assistance Program is that financial assistance is based on need. In order to insure objectivity, the Diocesan Catholic School Office s policy requires that parents complete a financial aid application form that may be obtained from the Catholic school the child attends or plans to attend next year. The deadline for submitting applications is mid-february. In addition, a letter requesting consideration for assistance must be submitted to Msgr. Theroux as soon as possible but no later than the end of April. A second premise of the Catholic School Tuition Assistance Program is that it is meant to assist those families who are actively involved in the practice of the faith and in the life of their respective parish. The Holy Apostles Men of St. Joseph meet twice a month, once on a Wednesday evening, beginning with the Rosary in the chapel followed by fellowship, and once on a Saturday morning beginning with Mass in the chapel followed by discussion and fellowship.
