Beginning Tuesday, April 12th, from 8am 12pm, CROSS will begin to distribute refrigerated fresh foods and groceries on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from our Ac vity Room. We will be CROSS's first mobile food distribu on site in Maple Grove! CROSS has long seen a need for a food distribu on site that is accessible to people by bus or by foot. CCC has a great loca on and now CROSS has a refrigerated food truck that can transport the fresh foods safely! CROSS will provide all the volunteers and staff needed to run this distribu on. We provide the space. What a wonderful opportunity God has placed in our paths to love and serve others. Stephanie Lehman, one of our previous church administrators, is managing this project for CROSS and is doing a great job. CROSS has even purchased a floor runner than covers the en re space clients will be using to shop, thereby mi ga ng wear and tear on our carpet in the Ac vity Room. We're grateful to have CROSS and Stephanie to partner with in this endeavor.

9 From the Provincial Ecumenical Officer May 2016 On April 16 I a ended the installa on of the Rev. John Dorhauer as president of the United Church of Christ. We relate to this denomina on in the Na onal Council of Churches and in Churches Uni ng in Christ, as well as at the local level in many places, especially in Pennsylvania. I thought it might be interes ng to note some aspects of the installa on service that were different from our week to week experience of worship. Some of these might be worth learning from. Since the denomina on is na onal, there were three similar, but not iden cal, services of installa on over one weekend: Friday in New York, where Pastors Earl Goulbourne and Desna Henry Goulbourne represented the Moravian Church; Saturday in Chicago, where I represented the Moravian Church; and Sunday in Sea le. Almost all the music and hymn texts used in the service were wri en for the occasion. In place of a sermon, there were vision statements from three different persons, one of them a seminary student. One of the three suggested that the denomina on, o en represented by a comma, to remind us that God is s ll speaking, also be represented by an ampersand (&), standing for the denomina on s diversity. Several past holders of the office of president were present and par cipated, offering prayer in the installa on. Members of the congrega on were invited to come up front and to place hands of blessing on the new president during a me of prayer. Eighteen different persons had speaking parts, including some family members of John Dorhauer, as well as local and na onal denomina onal leaders and representa ves. The congrega on, represen ng the whole church, was charged to provide the new leader with what he needs to serve well, and to be kinder to him than he probably would be to himself. Before giving the benedic on, the new president called his recently widowed mother to come forward, to show where his own faith has its roots. We were invited to think that not only was the new president being installed as denomina onal leader; all of us were being installed as people of Christ. Lord Jesus, we thank you for the variety in the family of your friends and followers. Help us both to learn from others and to share with others our own experience of you and our own ways of loving and serving you. In this Easter season we proclaim that you have conquered. Empower and enable us to follow you. Amen. Hermann I. Weinlick Ecumenical Officer Moravian Church Northern Province
