Serve Interna onally with Mission Jamaica in 2018 Mission Jamaica provides Chris ans a meaningful way to put their faith into ac on through short-term mission trips to Jamaica. The trip combines a service project with me for reflec on and spiritual rest. It allows people to experience an interna onal mission field that is close to home, yet far enough away for them to immerse themselves into another culture for a week. We serve our Jamaican partners by planning, funding, and implemen ng Chris an teaching, medical care, childcare, and construc on projects. Whatever your gi s or talents are, you can use them to serve the Jamaican community. Mission Jamaica provides a way for anyone to love and serve our neighbors, just as Jesus taught us through his love and service to others. The Mission Jamaica Team invites you to par cipate in Word of Peace s 2018 mission trip, February 24-March 3, when they will do both medical and building projects. For more informa on, contact Tyler Strom, Pastor of Faith in Ac on, at (763) or tstrom@wordofpeace.org. Or, make plans to a end an upcoming informa on session later this year. Plans are to watch the movie Dunkirk a World War II thriller about the evacua- on of Allied troops from the French city of Dunkirk before Nazi forces can take hold. A er the show, there will be a discussion and fellowship me upstairs in the bar. Ques ons? Contact Pastor Keith at klong@wordofpeace.org or (763)

Visit wordofpeace.org/ peacekast for more details. Another Successful Rummage Sale at Word of Peace Thank you to the many volunteers who gave their me to help out at Peace Market in June and thank you to everyone who donated items and shopped at the sale. Because of you, we had another successful fundraiser! Peace Market will return again next year on April 19 and 20. Have You Been to the Word of Peace Website Lately? We encourage you to visit wordofpeace.org to find out about upcoming events, subscribe to our mailing list, learn more about our church programs and ministries, listen to the weekly messages, or make a dona on! There s always something new at wordofpeace.org! Worship Volunteers Are Needed During Summer Months The worship services that take place during summer and throughout the year would not be possible without the help of volunteers like you! Please consider serving communion, ushering, gree ng, or running the sound and media this summer. For more informa on, contact Tracy Rowe at trowe@wordofpeace.org or (763) New Paraments in the Sanctuary Church paraments are the cloths that adorn the altar, pulpit, communion table and other parts of the Sanctuary. The paraments are changed with the church calendar, and have specific colors and symbols to highlight various seasons and fes val days. We have new green paraments for Ordinary Time from Jeane e Paulson, en tled, Lord of the Harvest. About the design, Jeane e writes: The season of Pentecost coincides with plan ng, growing, and harves ng in the northern hemisphere. We hear readings about Jesus ministry in this season and his frequent use of vineyards and wheat fields as illustra ons in his parables. As we pray for peace in the world, we think of the plight of refugees and the need to get food to all of God s people. My design illustrates vines, stalks, and branches intertwined with the arch of the sun (rising or se ng) in its midst. 4

5 SCHOOL SUPPLIES ARE needed for cross kids! Word of Peace Partners with Feed My Starving Children To Provide Meals to Families in Need Across the Globe Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a non-profit Chris an organiza- on commi ed to feeding God s children. Members and friends of Word of Peace will be packing food at the FMSC Coon Rapids site on Tuesday, July 18 from 12-2 PM. Children and adults hand-pack meals specifically formulated to provide nutri on and sustenance with easy prepara on. FMSC then ships the meals to distribu on partners across the world. FMSC offers volunteers a one-of-a-kind experience. You ll hand-pack rice, soy, dried vegetables and a nutri onally complete blend of vitamins and minerals into bags which are then sealed, boxed, placed on pallets and shipped to our incredible partners working hard to reach the neediest children around the world. Through volunteering at FMSC, you ll get the chance to impact hundreds of kids in just two hours per packing shi. You ll experience what it s like to make a tangible difference today. This is a powerful opportunity to share the love of Christ and to see first-hand the difference FMSC volunteers make in response to Christ s call to feed His starving children. Please join us on Tuesday, July 18 to help feed hungry children across the world. To register, visit to fmsc.org and select VOLUNTEER in the upper right corner; then select JOIN A GROUP.
