What is the church? What is its purpose and its mission? Why do we do the things we do? And what do we envision the Palmyra Church to be during the next several years? If you would like to be part of the discussion, you are welcome to join with the New Beginnings class in the Fellowship Hall from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. during the month of November. 4 Calendar Change! The Congregational Council meeting scheduled for November 18 has been changed to December 2 at 1:30 p.m. Scouting for Food Coming! November 10 and 17 will be the annual Scouting for Food Service Project. On Saturday, November 10, bags will be distributed to homes in Lancaster- Lebanon counties. On Saturday, November 17, the bags with food will be collected from the homes. All food will be donated to the Caring Cupboard. Thanks to the Health Ministry Team! We have wall mounted hand sanitizer stations throughout the church for your use. They are located in the Fellowship Hall, church entrances, and children s class rooms. 5 The Health Ministry nurses will be sponsoring flu and pneumonia shots on Sunday, November 11, in the Parlor from 8:30-11 a.m. These are for nonpregnant adults. The flu vaccine will cost $25 if over 50 shots are given and $27 if fewer than 50 shots are given. Pneumonia vaccine is $60. Medicare and other insurances will cover this cost. If you bring your Medicare information, the Visiting Nurses Association will file your claim directly. Otherwise, please pay with cash or a check and seek re-imbursement from your insurance. Please wear short sleeves. Call the church office by Monday, November 5 to register. Blood pressure screening will also be available! Upcoming Activities at LVBH: Chuck Musser will present Hymn Revival on Sunday, November 18, 7:00 p.m. in the DiMatteo Worship Center. Everyone is welcome. 6 We are now collecting Emergency Cleanup Kits at the Palmyra Church of the Brethren, in response to an appeal from Brethren Disaster Relief Services. Let's see how many we can put together! Bring your completed kit to the church and place it on a pew under the side balcony. We will take it from there. These supplies enable people to begin the overwhelming job of cleaning up after a flood, hurricane, tornado, or other disaster here in the United States. To assemble an Emergency Clean-up Bucket you will need: One five-gallon bucket with resealable lid Five scouring pads Seven sponges, assorted sizes One scrub brush Eighteen cleaning towels (reusable, like Easy Wipes ) One oz. box dry laundry detergent One 12 oz. bottle of liquid concentrated household cleaner (like Lysol ) One 25 oz. bottle liquid disinfectant dish soap (like Dawn ) One package of clothespins Clothesline, two 50 ft. or one 100 ft. Five dust masks Two pairs latex gloves (like Playtex ) One pair work gloves 28-bag roll of heavy-duty trash bags (30-45 gallon) One 6-9 oz. bottle of insect repellent (pump, drops or lotion, not aerosol) Please provide all liquids in new, unopened plastic bottles. Be sure to send only new materials. Place all items in the plastic bucket, making sure they are packed securely to avoid damage during shipment, and seal lid with packing tape. Funds are needed to cover sorting, packing, and insurance, as well as shipping Kits to their final destination. Please give at least $3 for each Clean-up Bucket.
