4 Hoard-Nasco Dinners Yes, it really is that time again. It s time for our Church to play host to some 400 high school and college students who come to us from all parts of the country and who will be attending the International Dairy Expo in Madison. They have an interest in the dairy industry and visit the Hoard s Dairyman Farm, the Hoard Historical Museum, and W.D. Hoard & Son Printing Company during their visit to Fort Atkinson. They also have a noon meal here at First Congregational Church! Feeding all these active teenagers takes a lot of effort, and we hope YOU can help Sunday School Registration Forms are available in the Narthex and on line at First Congregational Church 31 W. Milwaukee Ave. Fort Atkinson, WI Event Date: Saturday, October 28 10:00 am 12:00 pm This year we will be serving lunch on Sunday and Monday, October 1 and 2. This will be the first event under the direction of our new Licensed Kitchen Manager, Heidi Green. Let s all work to make her first event go smoothly. A clean-up crew is needed starting at noon. All workers can eat after the students have been served. The Sunday schedule is repeated on Monday with times one hour earlier than on Sunday. You are encouraged to find a time that fits your schedule and sign up, starting today, in the Narthex. Be sure to sign up early before the perfect job for you is taken. Many thanks to everyone who will help us show our Radical Hospitality to folks from across this nation. Thanks!!! Save the Date

5 The Nurture Ministry Team would like to invite everyone to our Rally Sunday Picnic. The Picnic will be held here at the church following our 10am Worship service. We will be serving hamburgers, Polish Sausage, hotdogs and refreshments for you to enjoy. There will be games for the kids to enjoy following the meal and time to just enjoy FUN, FRIENDS, AND FELLOWSHIP. We have invited our Police and Fire Department employees to come to our picnic. Join us as we honor or our First Responders. We will need many volunteers to donate generous salads and desserts! There is a sign up sheet available in the Narthex. Please sign up to bring a salad or dessert to share. Extra help is always welcome and appreciated, so if you can help with prep, clean up or anywhere in between, please let the Church Office know ( ). Please contact the church office with any special dietary needs. We will make every effort to assist with them. We look forward to seeing everyone for our Rally Sunday Picnic TODAY, Sunday, September 10, New Adult Christian Education Classes start at 8:45 am on Sunday, September 10th. See you there! September 10 - October 29, 2017 Facilitated by Bob Ehrike As part of our new Sunday School program we will be participating in a Mission project monthly. In light of the recent events we will focus our projects on helping with the hurricane disaster relief efforts. For the months of September and October we will be assembling Clean Up buckets that will then be distributed by Church World Services (CWS). They are in desperate need of Clean Up buckets for not only current disaster clean up but future disasters. Following domestic and international disasters the need to distribute specific material aid is often crucial to the recovery process. UCC Disaster Ministries, UCC Conferences and congregations support these efforts by assembling various types of Church World Service Kits that are stored and can be shipped at a moment s notice. Members can assist disaster relief efforts by assembling various kits that are warehoused by CWS, ready to be shipped at a moment's notice when the need arises. "For families that have lost everything, CWS Emergency Cleanup Buckets and other CWS Kits are more than just relief supplies, they are an expression of love and symbol of hope for the future, said Zach Wolgemuth, UCC Disaster Ministries executive. "It's energizing to see congregations engaged in hands-on ways, reaching out to people they will likely never meet. Items Needed for each Clean-Up Bucket: One five-gallon bucket with resealable lid (If bucket has been used, clean well but do not use if it has held chemicals of any kind.) Four scouring pads Seven sponges, including one large One scrub brush Eighteen reusable cleaning towels (e.g. Easy Wipes) One 50 oz. or two 25 oz. bottle(s) of liquid laundry detergent One oz. bottle of liquid disinfectant dish soap One oz. bottle of household cleaner that can be mixed with water (no spray bottles) One package of clothespins Clothesline, two 50 ft. or one 100 ft. Five dust masks Two pairs non surgical latex gloves One pair work gloves, cotton with leather palm or all leather heavy duty or contractor type gallon trash bags on a roll and removed from carton One 6-9 oz. bottle of non-aerosol insect repellent Please help us collect the items needed to help fill out buckets.

6 Kitchen News With the closing of Our Daily Bread and not having Debbie Rusch in the kitchen each week, Lend a Hand has taken over the responsibility of overseeing the Church Kitchen. Signs have been posted regarding use of the refrigerator and freezer. The basic rule is If you create a mess, clean it up. The kitchen is there for all Ministries and church groups to use. However, keeping it clean and picked up is also a shared responsibility. Recently Lend a Hand did a long needed cleaning in a few of the cupboards. Many things were tossed! They were discarded because they were beyond expiration dates and unmarked as to ownership. If something is left in the kitchen, please label as to its ownership. Items left without labeling are considered for public use and will be discarded if beyond expiration date. If your group would like an area of the kitchen for its use, please contact JoAnn Rose or Judy Knapp. The next area planned for cleaning are the green top cupboards in Plymouth Hall. The same policies will apply. Please note: there is enough plastic cutlery in the public use category to last through many church functions. Again, if your group wants its own designated shelf or partial cupboard, please contact Lend a Hand. If your group is planning an event in the church, please inform Tammy in the Church Office and she will put it on the church calendar. Thank you for your cooperation. Dart Ball season will begin soon! We are looking for individuals to join us Tuesday evenings for this fun game! Practice night is Tuesday, September 19th at 6:30 pm For your convenience you can make checks payable to the church (First Congregational Church). Your donation will be recorded on your giving statement and we will take care of sending all donations to the UCC Disaster Ministries. For more information, please contact Larry Narkis at
